To Derby County fans of a certain age this man was God, he was our generations Kevin Hector, his name would reverberate around the Baseball Ground for many years, even long after he had left us, it was his goals that dragged us kicking and screaming up the football league, Peter Taylor’s last moment of genius to add to those many legends he had spotted years before with his mate Brian.
Bobby is a super proud man, he still doesn’t understand the cult hero status that he holds in Derby with the fans, I think that it is a sad reflection on football that he is now working as a baggage handler at Leeds airport.
He should be walking around in diamond encrusted shoes, driving his Aston Martin, he has tried numerous years to let back into the club as a coach with the youth team but that became impenetrable under a certain individual and also MM.
He worked at St George’s for the FA for a number of years.
In my eyes he is an absolute legend of Derby County, an absolute idol as a kid, when everybody else had the keegans, dalglshes and Linekers we had Bobby, we might have been in the third division but it didn’t matter !
he never missed those one on ones with the keeper, he got his head in where it hurt and he had that great 80s moustache.
so heres to you Bobby Davison, Derby loves you more than you will know !

Needs football. Setting aside the rights and wrongs of his lack of game-time, he ought to get plenty of minutes at Scunny which will do him a lot more good than getting none stuck in the nether-nether land between the U21s and the 1st team. I can actually see this being good for Liam and good for Derby too, in the longer term. He remains a very good prospect.

Grace on Itv. Based on the Roy Grace detective series of books by Peter James. Season 3 E 1 was great (as were the other seasons). Having read a lot of the books, these tv adaptations capture the vibe.

I’m not sure what provoked us to be so noisy that day, but it was through half time and even in the Gents lads we’re still singing - it was mental - none stop 90 minutes. Maybe it was because it was the last time on a terrace, at-least at that time we certainly thought it was.
Yeh I remember our ‘rotund’ shirtless cheer leader - think he’s featured on a you tube clip at the game - but it wasn’t me TR !!
Let’s hope we can be just as noisy on Saturday whatever the result, more like Port Vale away than Wycombe.
    We’re all Derby aren’t we !
    Cheers

To think we were 7 days from going under makes me shudder....and now some fans are moaning that we are "only" 5th in league 1 after having 5 players in July.
I'm so grateful we have a club at all, let alone a competitive one in safe hands for once.
    Thank you again Mr Clowes

I have just read the full article and if the Derby fans cannot appreciate what David Clowes has done, not only saving the club from oblivion but to restore the club's reputation with the EFL and other club's, then they don't deserve to be called Derby County supporters.
His integrity, passion, honesty and optimism for the club is unbounded and we should all thank him and his management team for saving the club.
To be within a matter of days, if not hours, of the club going out of existence, and to put together a business plan; a management team with the same attributes and inspirations, along with a set of young and aging players to compete for the play-off places, is nothing short of a miracle.
If we don't get promotion this season, the future of Derby County F.C. is in very safe hands and if, as David Clowes mentions, it might take 5 years, so be it, we have a club and team to support.
Thank you David Clowes and 'Long Live Derby County Football Club'

Hourihane's a weird one. Really frustrating watching him and whoever is his oppo is get dominated despite their talent, but his numbers are fantastic. There's no doubt the quality is there, it's the rest of what he brings where there are question marks for me.
If he plays the remaining 9 games he'll likely be close to 10 goals and should get over 10 assists. Seen nothing from Thommo to suggest he's capable of getting anywhere close to those numbers. I'm all for blooding the youngsters but we've got to have a bit of substance as well.
Same sort of vein to what Tom Lawrence was for us the last few years. Loads of questions around his general play at times, missing for consecutive games but he would win you a game out of nothing. As miserable as the football and goal scoring was under Wazza, if we didn't have Tom chipping in it would have been even worse.

Roberts is out of contract at the end of the season, so good chance he could sign permanently- if we've been smart he'll have already signed a pre-agreement

Watched a great game last night between Barnsley & Sheffield Wednesday, real blood and thunder stuff, it was interesting to note that BOTH teams play in Warne's favoured shape of 3-5-2 (Plymouth also play with 3 at the back, but a different shape) and both teams looked far more athletic and physically strong than our boys. I think we'll be seeing a big turnover of players this summer as Warne shapes the squad into something that can mimic the likes of Barnsley & Sheffield Wednesday.

They could build a pub into the corner of the ground and fill it with Rams memorabilia, maybe call it something like the Baseball bar and grill.

    Picture this.
    Derby City Centre.
A large pub that is owned by Derby County.
The theme, Derby County, walls covered in photos, shirts, replica trophies.
Serving food including vegan and gluten free, wide range of real ales and ciders along with the mainstream of the supermarket shelve stuff.
    Sell programmes, scarfs, flags, badges.
    Open 7 days a week.
    Derby County themed weekly quiz.
    Fan forums held there.
Monthly Q&A nights with current and former players, admission fee for these.
Even a monthly membership that gives you a discount off food and admission for free to event nights.
Make it the city centre Mecca for Derby County fans for not only pre match, after match and everything else in the week.
All that money, into the clubs account.
Whilst it wouldn’t put us close to Manchester United levels of revenue, there must be a profit to be had there with a venue like this.
Very much off topic, but all those that need their hunger needs met on a Saturday would have their problems solved whilst supporting the club.

I'd say this is a coup for Scunny. They're struggling near the foot of the National League and he'll surely help them pull away. We have Bird, Smith, White, Rooney, Knight, Hourihane and Sibley who I would say can play in his position in terms of a midfield two or the central two of a midfield three (we've tried both with all these players this season).
Liam hasn't made the bench the last couple of games with all the above players also now fit. He desperately needs games. I think it makes sense for both parties in that I do not honestly think I would pick him ahead of almost any of our other midfielders. There's a case for him ahead of Rooney and/or White, but not the other five. Most importantly, we need a happy, united unit for the run-in and I don't blame Liam at all if he's unhappy.

It's the right thing for his development. He may well have asked for this himself after White was brought in on loan.

But half the team are around 22-24, I really don’t see that as the problem. I think it is a thin squad with not enough players to enable us to replace like with like and many are fatigued playing 3 games each week.

The last few posts have mirrored something Warne said when he came and somethong that was obvious from the stat of the season. Namely, we have a ruck of U22s and a ruck of O30s. We have a 2nd choice keeper who falls in between the two. It's those 23 to 29 years olds we're missing. Hopefully get a few in this summer.

Hourihane is one of our best players when football is played on the deck with our players passing to him.
Partially agree.....Doesn't warrant a starting position if his job is solely to win 2nd balls at chest height from defensive headers that opposition defenders have won from our long punts up field. Can't think he enjoys it much.
