I think it was @David who commented yesterday that we were a community on here. Up to then I thought I was just occasionally hanging out with some random Internet Saddo’s. Anyway it got me thinking about members who our community appears to have lost. Some may be dead, others bored, some might no longer have access to a computer, and others have found a proper life. Whatever the reason, this thread is set up to honour those Saddo’s, I mean members, who we enjoyed but no longer have contact with. I will start with a few, but will return with a few more as my memory improves.
@Angry Ram Nice bloke, nothing like his Internet persona. Miss his raspish put downs of anyone he disagreed with.
@Parsnip Funny man. Miss seeing pictures of his dog, and stories of parking tickets.
@Norman All round good poster - humourous and serious, and probably gorgeous in a prison service uniform
    Lest we forget.

He was one of those under rated players that most top sides seem to have
He joined the dirties after they won the league in 1974 he only played 4 league games for them the following season I assume they were all before Cloughy got sacked

Yes, i realised later. I forgot that he moved to Leeds with Clough. I don't think he won a league title there did he? So there you go then. Those detractors were right. He was rubbish because he only won two league titles! 😉

Went as assistant to Big Ron and took over when he left.  To be fair, he had one hell of job at Derby trying to sort out the mess the Doc left behind.

I have used Arsenal as a great example and told David that we have an open invite from the club to go back down, they have set up a fantastic timeline of where the club came from and followed the history through to modern day, great use of lighting and sound adds to the experience, story boards as you walk through, it’s not about trophies it’s a celebration of the heritage, we can include our engineering links with the railways and the aero industry and make it about the people of Derby and how the club has been integral to their lives for the past 140 years, lots of photos and media, we had three screens running over the display on a loop which people just stood and watched, then importantly we will change the exhibits on a regular basis to keep it interesting and include themes such as eras or cup competitions through the season, it can be tied in with the ticket office, the yard and the club shop and of course ground tours, money can be made by the club, the good thing is that we are now up and running, lots of hard work over the years is now coming together, keep watching this space 👍🐏❤️

We’re not giving up our best players, his contract is expiring and we are in negotiations with him. If he chooses to go elsewhere that’s up to him, the club will offer the terms it feels appropriate to offer and if he moves on so be it. None of us are privy to the discussions between player and club, nor do we know his motivations. If and when David McGoldrick makes a decision on his future I’m sure we’ll get a bit more of a picture, the rest is just speculation and boredom. If he goes and we haven’t replaced him by the time the season starts then maybe I’ll worry, until then I’ll be patient and wait to see what unfolds.
As to your other point, what worrying signs are there to have come from a summer in which the transfer window is yet to open and we’ve been linked with a bunch of players? We’ve also been told the club can spend fees again. I really don’t get how pessimistic some people can be when in reality nothing has happened yet. Other than our position in the football leagues the club is allegedly the healthiest it has been in a long time, there’s some good people in charge making sensible decisions with a clear idea of keeping the club sustainable in the long term, try looking at the positives as well as the prospect of losing a 35 year old striker for reasons you can’t control.

Sorry to start another thread but we have been down at Pride Park all day at Harrison’s Hub setting up for our display over the next two days of all things Derby County and I wanted to share the results.
it’s free entry and I promise you it will stir the grey matter and maybe tug at the heart strings! There is something for everybody from 1884 to David Mcgoldricks shirt from this season, The Racecourse to PridePark not forgetting the little old BBG.
great to see young @sagehe couldn’t wait for the weekend and had been queuing up all night so we let him in to help !
park in the main car park and have a pop in, we want a museum at the ground where all of the clubs history can be shared, we’ve got the gear we just need a space.
10.15 till 3 Saturday and 11.15 ish till 3 on Sunday due to the Ramathon, Ascot drive entrance to pride park will be open earlier than the others.

Why do you call him a cockroach? My understanding, which is limited admittedly, is that he was signed on a transfer fee with instalments based on appearances/milestones. It was the club who didn’t want to play him rather than him not wanting to play. He kept himself fit, and played for the youth teams, therefore I think you are being harsh. I would have probably sat on my contract in his situation. Another Mel classic signing for a manager he got rid of a few weeks later.

My understanding is that the deal we made when we bought him was in the region of £8-£10m based on an agreed set fee (lower end) plus extras for any achievements written into the deal (usually promotion, appearance targets etc.).
I doubt we've hit any of the performance targets to trigger the added value and from what the club has said during the admin process, we have been paying off the main fee in regular instalments. One of the payments was deferred by Arsenal when we went into admin. However, since we are now out of admin and Arsenal would be considered a football creditor, we still need to complete agreed payments.
If we are to believe that the fee agreed was £8m and we are now entering the last of his 5 contracted years we can assume that we've been paying £1.6m per year (or £800k every 6 months, or £400k per quarter - depending on how the agreement was arranged). therefore we likely only owe the last £1.6m of the reported fee and that is a fee I think we can expect to get for him. It would be nice to get somewhere between £2-3m, but we need to be realistic.

Martin Kelly’s Story of 100-Year Derby County Dynasty.
My father Don Kelly saw his first match at the BBG in 1926, when he was aged 6. In 1967 when I was nine, he took me to see Derby County who were a lowly Second Division team.
I was a season ticket holder from 1967 and despite moving away in the 1980’s, I always attended a few matches each season. I introduced my own two daughters to the Rams and my three nephews who live in America. When they visited, we saw The Rams play and now they watch on Rams TV.  My Italian and South African sons-in-law have both joined me at matches too.
During my career with Nat West Bank I was bank manager for Rotherham United and once presented Paul Warne with a MOM award. The photo, which is of Paul presenting a painting of Millmoor to NatWest Bank, as a thank you for sponsoring a game. This duty fell to Paul, because I had just presented him with the MoM award.
On a more serious note: Unfortunately Motor Neurone Disease gradually takes away from you the things that are most important. Since being diagnosed in 2017 I have lost the use of my legs and arms. One of the last games I could get to was the Villa play-off final.
I can no longer speak. I struggle to swallow and am fed through a tube directly into my stomach. Most sadly, I won’t be able to take my grandchildren to Derby County matches. I now watch Rams TV and am very proud that I can personally trace my family's Derby County ties back over 100 years. Please support the quiz, I cannot be there but will watch what I can on a facetime link.

Or, he's working hard on his fitness preparing for a summer of international games and to be in peak condition for a very tough preseason when he returns to his parent club. When asked about his future in a five minute interview he said that his destiny is still to be decided.
I really don't know if he will be back, if he wants to come back, or if his parent club even wants him back. I do however think that he has given stock answers when asked questions, and will continue to do so whenever asked.
