richinspain got a reaction from angieram in The EFL at it again? Blocking signings?
I keep seeing in the Charter meeting thread questions about our/Mel's relationship with the EFL. Also that we need honest answers to all questions. So we expect Mel to say that he thinks that there is an agenda, that Mel is public enemy number one, that they couldn't organise a p up in a brewery etc. And once the replies are quoted, we expect relations between the two/three parties to suddenly improve?

Best part of all this is not paying agents.
I can’t understand how football clubs let agent fees become a thing, the club is paying an agent to negotiate the most money for their client.
Where’s the sense in that, these players on thousands, some hundreds of thousand pounds a week, you want an agent, fine, you pay for one.

We all know where to look, but it's a bit like a solar eclipse. You know you shouldn't look directly at it because you'll go blind, but you can't help but steal a quick peek from time to time.

When Dr Frankenstein arrived at the body building competition, he realised he had seriously misunderstood the objective.

Phew, I seriously thought all this mess was going to get sorted and we’d end up with the spanner.

He and Ibe were definitely worth the risk. Their wages in football terms would have been low, with a possible jackpot if successful.

I am a bit surprised. I wouldn’t have thought you were Sage’s type.

richinspain reacted to ilkleyram in Mike Hendrick
For those of us of a certain age Mike Hendrick was, like Bob Taylor, evidence that Derbyshire CC could produce and have picked genuine England international cricketers.
He was a fine bowler in an era that included the likes of Botham and Willis, without ever quite nailing a permanent spot in the England attack but he never let anyone down and had fantastic stats in both the one day game as well as the longer form.
He's died from cancer at the age of 72. Happy memories.
