ColonelBlimp got a reaction from Mucker1884 in Fans not from Derbyshire...
Born in Ilford, east London/Essex, moved to Waterlooville (Portsmouth) at 2 years old, then to Luton when I was 6.
I was 8, 1976, when I chose Derby as my team, everyone else were Arsenal,Leeds,Liverpool, Man Utd. Probably helped that my school was called Ramridge, that must have swung it for me I think. I remember the FA Cup semi in 1976.
Moved to Bursledon (Southampton) in 1977 and then to Middleton on Sea (Bognor Regis) in 1985, a week before my 18th.
Then to Goring by Sea (Worthing) in 1990 where i got married, had kids etc.
Lived there til I got made redundant, lost my mum to kidney cancer and got the same cancer myself all within 18 months.
At this point, kids had finished Uni and no longer at home so we decided to move while we could.
So, at the grand old age of 51, we moved to Mickleover because the wife felt good about it when we drove round all the Derby suburbs. She'd also surprised me by enjoying the football at PP the few times we'd been able to make the trip up so we go together now which is awesome.
Special thanks to those great people on this forum for helpful advice on everything around that, particularly Boycie for the plasterer and the kitchen ?

I'm similar to be honest. When the current Mrs Rev has a night away, it's party central in my house.
Sometimes it gets so debauched I don't load the dishwasher until the following morning.

Personally,I wouldn't want that boss no,especially if the results were poor too....where is the upside to their leadership if it's not benefitting the club or job?

The name of Derby County has been radically sullied in the press of late, some of it very unfair. Does the Club have a communications strategy to set the record straight over some of the issues eg how we cheated relegation? How we fixed our accounts? How we sold the ground to ourselves? What we value as a Club eg fairness, community spirited, ambitious.

It would appear that insufficient due diligence was carried out on the prospective sales to BZI and Erik Alonso.
Who carried out due diligence and what measures have been put in place to ensure that we are not sold to such an unprofessional outfit?

Have you considered selling a small shareholding of the club to fans to bring in immediate capital while continuing to make the club attractive to majority ownership buyers.

Supporters are aware that the club is very much up for sale, but what is the plan for the next few years should a takeover not come to fruition?

Can you give a cast iron guarantee you'll continue to fund the club with the minimum amount needed to ensure survival as a club, until any takeover how ever long that will be?

I would like to submit this non football related question, but one that I feel on a human level should be asked.
Mel, how are you and how is your health?

This guy does make good videos, even though his voice grates on me.
At worst it may generate some more fans given the number of subscribers he has.
We gained a few after the 07/08 season didn't we?
    Global phenomenon we are ?

Stearman and Jagielka might be training with the club, they might even sign up as squad players, who knows. There's no transfer fee and they're not going to demand massive wages are they at their ages? If they did, we wouldn't be able to sign them anyway.
But, you know, we need bodies in the CB position. We also need experience in the CB position.
Who better than Stearman, Jagielka and Davies to teach our U23 CB's about that position?

Oh yes indeed. One of the 3 6th form colleges, the other being Peter Symonds in Winchester and Sparsholt college. Had a lot of investment has Barton Peverell - very good facilities.

ColonelBlimp reacted to Terry Hennessy in Ravel Morrison - signed 1 year deal
One of the areas we have holes is midfield. Yes, we have a real talent in Bielik...but he's injured, we have Shinnie and Knight. Yes you may like to add the untried Watson to that group and Sibley / Lawrence....both for me more No.10's. Joz again more of a wide player. So for me we are light in quality in that area. Morrison may turn out to not make it here but I'd say that in there that there's a player that can do a job in the Championship. We cant sign any players involving a fee and we also cant sign players who want high wages....so really we're stuck in the bargain basement aren't we....so for anyone to write off players (as they do on here) before they've even kicked a ball - to me seems crazy. If the Manager has faith in them and signs them on then surely we have to support them. I think many posters on here would rather see us relegated then take on players that they dont see fit to wear the shirt. Make no mistake - another season of struggle awaits us....its all hands to the pump. I dont see any problem with the players Rooney has brought in during the close season. Are they likely to get us promotion - no....are they likely to keep us out of the bottom 3 ...maybe.

I'm sure Mel, younger and in full health, was a most excellent businessman, you don't get 500m being lucky do you? Do you?
People get older, they get unwell, they take their eye off the ball, they get scammed (usually old people get scammed).
Could be any number of reasons why the Mel of 2013/14 ain't the Mel of 2020/21.
FWIW, I like Mel, I think he's done everything for our club with the best of intentions, what is it the saying about that?

He's only 65. You make him sound like my grandad, and I'm 58.
Only joking, I imagine that his health more than his age will be a factor. I do hope that the people around him are up to it though. It would be a shame if all he tried to do for the club ultimately was overshadowed by poor decisions probably taken by others.
