    We already miss out

Connolly signs for Stockport after leaving Blackpool

Derby makes me feel sick and very depressed sometimes

Why are we so slow at getting people in or why we sit back wait to think oh the player will call us hmm no derby bad derby do the work

We haven’t lost out to Stockport ffs get some perspective 😂 if the choice was derby or Stockport he’d be here

  2. Weird that he puts Leeds as first when it felt like he was boasting a bit on undr the cosh podcast that him not being willing to give up money owed in remaining years of his contract nearly killed them.

My observations have been that with the correct personnel and no fan pressure to change to a back four he has preferred 352. He also said in interviews he likes two forwards, one being a number 9 and the other being a second striker, a number 10 or a free role (nml), dependent on what is needed for that particular game.

Of course he has played various formations, but they often seem forced and he has always been itchibg to go back to 352.

First season we had no wing backs, he tried Barkhuizen and NML in that position and it didn’t work, so he reluctantly (his words) went to back four.

Second season he bought players to play a back three and the players just couldn’t adjust to it, he kept flirting with a 352 but it just didn’t get going. We then went through that spell when we signed Gayle as our only fit striker and played 343 for a few games which looked great, but Warne voiced his concerns about the midfield being light, and then in our run in played what you could call a 3511.

If 3511 is his preference which to me it seems to be, that currently has us with NML, CBT and Barkhuizen as the slightly out of position player off the striker. Bringing in more wingers (the position we are mostly linked with) seems a little counter productive if we don’t have a large budget.

Now a number of factors could prove me wrong, and if it does, then fair enough I’m wrong, but to suggest I haven’t been paying attention to the team I have religiously followed for 36 years is a bit silly. Im not a regular poster here, although I have been an active lurker for many years.

If you got through all that and are still awake, well done.

I think 352 was a necessity due to the profile of centre mids we had. If he gets his way and we have midfielders that all have 3 lungs like Ebou we’ll probably only play with 2 CM meaning 343 is more likely allowing for 2 supporting forwards with the bigger CF

I suspect we have probably got some deals done - not ITK by the way!!  Earlier this week someone posted that the way we work now is to only announce deals when they’re registered.  CBT was used as an example where he’d been photographed in the kit 3 or 4 days before any announcement.  Think back to last Summer, Vickers, for example, was announced on 20th June but his Rams TV interview was done before his honeymoon in May.

I think it’s part of us, as a fan base, still adjusting to the more measured approach under DC’s ownership.

Jesus just realised it was only last summer Vickers was on his honeymoon and by half way into the season he’d lost his wife. What an awful year he’s had.

It's been confirmed that Windass has rejected a contract at Wednesday and will be moving on.

Rats off a sinking ship. First Vaulks to Oxford, now Windass. I assume Di'Shon Bernard moves on too.

Not an ideal start for a club that ended the season in high spirits.

Wonder what Rohl is thinking after signing his new contract?

Know nothing about this kid but very happy to hear this. One of my concerns when PW became manager was that there would be less focus on the Academy and youth development in general (especially when Wassall left the club). This does not seem to have been the case at all.

I don’t think Clowes would allow any manager to ignore the academy given the significant investment it takes to maintain 1 status.

I think he recognises that administration gutted the academy but in 18 months I suspect there’ll be real pressure on whoever the manager is to create a clear pathway to the first team as that’ll have given us 3.5 years to recover since admin and we can clearly see there’s som promise in the lower age categories now.

Players back then could play football no matter what age even into their 40s but players these days after 30 they fall apart on the pitch they don't put in the work but the kind of players back then could run circles around our team today

    What you on about?

Look at total appearances of non goalkeepers playing late on 40 years ago vs players retiring now.

Bellingham for example will probably burn out in his early thirties but he’ll have probably played the highest number of matches by an elite English footballer by that point.

They’re like cars - it isn’t number of years old it’s miles on the clock.

Leave Beryl out of it…..her ‘I’ve heard’s’ are as accurate as most of the ITK’s on here 😉 Out of interest, why have we got two separate Transfer Rumours sections?

One is ‘suggestions’ one is ‘rumours’ to sort through people recommending we sign jeff Hendrick because he’s been released vs people who hear little bits from barbers and ground staff and people who live opposite moor farm etc

Jeff hendrick released today! Probably just sentimental but would love to see him in a derby shirt again

Rumours not suggestions please! Whole suggestion thread for this comment. This thread is for ‘my grans mates with the tea lady or said she saw mbappe being shown around’ for example.

He's a good player in the Premier League, extremely doubtful he needs to drop a division and even more doubtful to a team getting promoted from League One. He went on loan to Norwich a few years ago at this level and not only impressed, but was also included in the PFA team of the year.

I think if he was to become available a team like Ipswich, Leicester, Wolves, etc would be very interested. I don't think there is any rush on Tottenham's part to let a homegrown talent like him leave either.

He hasn't played a lot recently and doesn't fit the profile, but left-sided defender that could play LB or CB.

You could say he would more than likely do a job, but I had hoped this type of signing would be left in League One with our transfer restrictions and 'needs must' attitude to getting back to the Championship. Birmingham makes a lot of sense.

Perhaps the Dummett link is a way of allowing Bradley to go whilst replacing with someone with prem experience for a season or 2?

That's just clickbait. It's no more relevant than me saying "if I was Paul Warne, I'd be interested in signing Harrison Burrows". Please read an article before posting it up here to avoid wasting peoples time.

Hey as long as it’s a rumour with us involved it’s allowed on this thread!!

I suggested Wes Foderingham as a possibility to replace Wildsmith a couple of weeks ago . Many on here said he was rubbish . He has had the last laugh , becoming a Prem bench warmer at West Ham Utd .Can’t help thinking Wildsmith has been given the same sort of opportunity.

Wes is bad though, really bad.
Only reason he’d have been given this gig is because he’s ‘home grown’.

    Hands have got holes in.

I did try to post a bona fide transfer rumour on here, but I think there's so little actual news (Nixon describes us as still at the homework stage) that people are drowning out the tiny snippets there are with these bizarre arguments about if you can sign a player or not.

With players and hopefully management (?) on their hols, I guess it's going to be quiet, and then it's the Euros, and maybe the actual transfer whirligig won't kick in until then. Actually winning automatic promotion meant the season felt as if it finished remarkably early, so now everyone's drumming their fingers like Bree Larson - IYKYK.

I’d be gutted if we were at the homework stage still 😂 surely our homework is done and we’re preparing offers by now.

He went to Exeter and was crap, couldn't get in the squad and that's when they had Jevani Brown sat out the team who they built the squad around. Probably not a great signing

He ran rings around our midfield when Crewe knocked us out the cup… he looked brilliant on that game. An incredibly small sample but he looked better than anything we had in the middle that game.

Wonder why it didn’t work out at Exeter

  13. can we have a separate thread for rumours - instead of suggestions (not in media so not worthy of a thread in the transfer section of the forum)?

I don’t want to wade through chatgpt transfer suggestions to see whether any of the usual suspects have heard about anyone being shown around moor farm.

MODs feel free to delete if you think the suggestion thread already does this fine.

  14. I’m not fussed if this is one we’re after or not but all I’d say on the criticisms of him from Barnsley fans is just look at some of the comments about Bird when it came out he was leaving for Brizzle.

Fans will usually play down and focus on the negatives of any player leaving…

Great to see, but I do wish we'd focus on bigger keepers. Do 17-year-olds still grow? I'm encouraged that Iversen is reputedly 6 foot 4 inches, when Joe was only 6 foot and Jack Thompson looks much smaller. A shame for Harry Evans in the final - is he bigger or just nearer to the camera? I guess when you sign people up at a young age, you're not certain how tall they'll end up.

I’m still hoping that 32 year olds still grow to be fair…

On a serious note lads don’t stop growing until they’re about 21 right? Plenty of years to grow.
