There is no way we will get demoted from the Championshipwith all this money we are spending on players.

What are the odds for the Rams, promotion and Demotion

I mean the championship looks bloody tough this year. When fixtures came out it made me gulp as I scanned down it looking for the ‘easy’ fixtures. Even the s**** seem to have got themselves sorted out with good managers (QPR Wednesday etc).

Despite the clear improvements to our squad I still think staying up for this first season will be a big effort.

  2. I’m on the Carsley band wagon.

No point going for a successful club manager unless is Carlo A who’s style is ‘let good players play and keep everyone happy’.

Not enough time with the players to get in someone with an intricate system of playing. If you’re going for a systems based approach you’d be better off employing them as a director of football for the whole FA and get all teams playing in that way from school boys onwards.

Beilik (£10m) was said to be the “ Player that guarantees promotion”. The “Beast” was played at the back by Cocu , who said he was not fit enough for midfield . At the same time , we could have had Ollie Watkins for £4 m. Hindsight is a wonderful thing .

We were a different team with Bielek than without. A full season with him fit I suspect we are never part of a relegation battle during the season we stayed up on the last day.

  4.

4 (5 if you assume CBT was already classed as a signing from Jan) more to come in if we go by Warnes 12 wanted. I think it’s evident from noises that were pushing for:

Dembele or Bobby Clark type that can play behind the striker.

A big number 9 that can hold it up.

    A CB with some pace.

A left wing back that isn’t made of glass.

How would people feel going into the season with the above 4 added to the current squad?

  5. Out: Loach, Wildsmith, Loach

    In: JWZ*, + trialist?

    Out: Sibley

    In: out and out LWB?

    Out: Ebou, Hourihane, Smith, Bird

    In: Ebou, Kenzo, Ozoh*, Osborne

    Out: TJJ, Gayle, Waghorn, CBT

    In: Yates, Jackson, CBT

We're echoing a bit of the Billy Davies side at the minute.  A side that was very solid at the back going up and not strengthening the attack enough for the next level.  That's were you come unstuck, as the higher you go, you need to be in a position where you can increase your goal threat.  Our current strikeforce will get eaten up at this level without more power and pace and that will put  pressure on a defence who will concede more inevitably.  A target man proven at this level and some youthful pace with goal product still required,  I'm thinking we have maybe 20 goals from our strikers at the minute and that's optimistic.

Can’t remember where I read it but a few years ago somebody did some analysis that said if you’re going to spend £10m on a player you should buy the best defender you can rather than the best striker you can as over the season it’d win more points.

    Never concede = never lose

The East stand is not open and the North stand has plenty of tickets left through the link on the Derby website.

Can you post that link? I’ve had a look and must be blind!!

There is a link on the Derby site for away fans.

I couldn’t find it on there. Will have another look.

They shouldn’t be, that’s the home end.

Derby fans are in the North stand.

Yes I assumed we’d be in the sold out section however with it being a preseason friendly against a team 2 divisions below us I didn’t know whether others were in the home stand

  10. Having listened to Nelson talk he’s a very calm head but is he the guy to give an on field bollocking if someone isn’t picking up their runner etc?

We need leaders across the pitch. I think Foz should be club captain as he knows the place inside an out and is a key figure in the dressing room.

I can’t see past Nelson at the moment but I suspect Warne will know if he’s got what is necessary.

I just want to put one little tiny caveat in there if you don't mind

Adams will be playing against better players...so unproven 👍

All this he's worth it...he aint worth it...Adams is worth what DCFC will pay or any other club...there...simple aint it.

Whilst this is true - we’re not plucking an unknown quantity from a mid table club in league 1. We’re getting someone who transformed the team who finished second in league 1.

Think if we were looking at signing say Boltons best midfielder for us in the championship had they finished second we’d not be worried

  12. I think one thing to consider about the price is that if he steps up and produces the same for us as last season then it’s peanuts for him. If he doesn’t quite step up we can probably off load him for okay money for a side looking to win league 1 as he’s proven to be at the very top end of that level so ultimately the extra slice of cake Cardiff want for him isn’t that high of a risk.

  13. 28 but with 5 lungs like Ebou has - we’re getting a known quantity for at least 3 excellent years maybe even 4 before the inevitably decline due to age.

Probably paid around the same as what we paid for Kenzo who is unknown quantity but has age on his side.

If someone had offered 1 exciting prospect from the continent and Ebou all done and dusted for around £1.5m you’d have snapped their hand off surely?

Why would you buy a player for more than you think he is worth?

I don’t think they would, I think they have gone into it hoping to get a bargain having pretty much picked him up from being water boy at Cardiff and reigniting his career. Paying more than you’d hoped to initially doesn’t equal paying more than you think he’s worth.
