I can't get my head round this, so you're saying they didn't deserve to finish 4th because they scored more goals than you were expecting?

To add further context to your point these have been the promoted teams the past 5 seasons prior to covid and their previous position.
    18/19 Luton 1st (league 2 promoted)  Barnsley 2nd (champ relegated) Charlton 3rd POW (6th)
17/18 Wigan 1st (champ relegated) Blackburn 2nd  (champ relegated)  Rotherham 4th POW (champ relegated)
    16/17 Sheff Utd 1st (11th) Bolton 2nd (champ relegated) Millwall 6th POW (4th)
    15/16 Wigan 1st (champ relegated) Burton 2nd (league 2 promoted) Barnsley 6th POW (11th)
    14/15 Bristol C 1st (13th) MK Dons (11th) Preston 4th POW (3rd)
So in all League 1 has no pattern for being harder or weaker and except for 17/18 there has not been more than 1 team coming down that has gained promotion immediately.

As a selfish oaf, I'm good with this.
More likely to be doing "other stuff" on a BH Monday afternoon.  I can now pay the £11.99 for a NowTV day pass, and sit comfortably watching from my sofa (or cowering from behind it!)
But that's me... not even a half fan, in the grand scheme of things.

As a caring person however, I feel livid on behalf of those that matter... those that travel far and wide, week in, week out, for little reward and even less gratitude, all in the name of loyalty and love towards our beloved footy team.
Some may have to literally cancel their plans, purely due to the "impossibility" of the travel.
Others will have to follow a BH weekend by having to book time off work on the Tuesday to travel there, and the Wednesday to factor in the journey home/late hours.
It truly is a pish take!
All I can say is, we'd better win, go top, and those that do travel spend the evening singing anti-Sky chants!  I'll even be hypocritical, and join in from my sofa!

Making love to a beautiful woman is very much like a Paul Warne managed Derby County. It begins hard but then you get on top until inevitably there’s a slide downwards which leads to some disappointment and a limp finish.

    Pros:
    - Nice guy who cares about the club and the people in it.
    - Has us currently in the hunt for autos, should get play offs minimum.
    - Most of his defensive signings have been good or average, not poor.
    - Authentic interviews, doesn’t give the boring PR answers.
    Cons:
    - Tactically doesn’t seem switched on.
    - Forward signings have been in large garbage.
    - Style of football is boring.
    - Doesn’t seem to trust or fancy playing the youngsters.
    - Could miss out on promotion, despite our wage bill being one of the highest and the league being on paper poor.

Of course the above are my opinions not facts. But think my list represents a lot of fans thoughts.

Look, I’m 79 next year and who knows how much longer I will have before I drift up to the great Pride Park in the sky. Therefore I’m not really concerned about who the manager is so long as we play well and get promoted. Selfish of me I know

We have a squad way above average (possibly the best?) in a division that is dreadful.
I honestly believe we're second in the league in spite of Paul Warne, not because of him.
Someone like Nathan Jones, whether you like him or not, would have us top of this division as we'd see games out.
And we wouldn't have the best Centre Half at the club playing left back

And had Warne done his job properly and stuck with the centre back pairing of Nelson and Cashin in a back 4 that brought all the 'success', then Bradley wouldn't have been in the team....

Sweetness34 reacted to B4’s Sister in Collins not everyone's favourite.
When I started coming to matches again in November, Collins was the player that stood out for me. There was a good run of decent football, but then it feels like the whole team has got a bit lost. Collins is getting goals in but his performance isn’t standing out as it was a few months ago. I like him though and think his dedication is a good example to some of the younger players.

Based on nothing other than the experience of being a Derby fan my whole life, I can just see us dropping points on Saturday, struggling but winning against Exeter, either 4 or 3 points from those two games and everyone (myself included) going into meltdown even though it's not that bad before convincingly thrashing Stevenidge and finding oursevels in 2nd because the teams around us also drop points that they don't think they should
0-0 Saturday is my gut feeling, like I say, based on nothing other than that's what happens we're in this position!

Except this isn't a new thing... The home atmosphere has been dogsh!t for a while now, and I chalk it up to toxic expectation. I remember it really starting in 14/15, the first season people started assuming we'd finish top 2. It seemingly changed from unconditional support, to entirely conditional. The team has to do something to warrant cheering, rather than generating atmosphere to gee the players on.
I find it all very entitled. It's embarrassing when we come across as the fanbase that thinks they're better than they are. We should have a 'we're in league 1 so better roll our sleeves up and muck in'' whereas instead everyone is expecting champagne football and constant wins, and then literally boo'ing if we dare to have a blip... I think that reflects more poorly on our fanbase, than it does in any way on Warne or his football.

Interesting Bolton are joint favourites to win it and only thrid favourite to finish in the top 2, I just can't get my head around that one!
As for Peterbourough being outsiders, this is true after last night's results yet there will be bad results for everyone and who can guess how many times we'll all take it in turns at being the outsider between now and the final top 2 being established?
Can't wait for spring and the nice weahter and clarity of who will finish in the top 6 it brings

When the football card designers didnt have a transferred player in their new colours , they used to draw the new colours on . There are loads of examples from a few years collections in the seventees . All of them are laughable .
