Someone I have been impressed by is James Trafford, the young lad playing in goal for Burnley, although he didn’t play on Saturday. Given the amount of pressure the Burnley defence has been under, ge has done exceptionally well whenever I have seen him.

This thread really is the gift that keeps on giving 🤣

Who should we sign first, James Trafford, Will Hughes or Thomas Delaney?

Thomas Delaney (Danish international midfielder) only has a year on his Sevilla contract left and they don't want him. He spent last season on loan at Anderlecht, with an option to buy for 3 million Euros, but reportedly the Spaniards are now ready to take 1.5 million: https://www.anderlecht-online.be/en/article/232104

He's 32 years old but could be the central midfield leader we need to make a difference. He's got American citizenship through his dad so I imagine would be comfortable in an English-speaking environment.

It's laughable that Cardiff want half a million pounds for Ebou, but for just over twice as much we could maybe buy someone like this.

    Is this a serious suggestion?

You can see how heavily that average is distorted by the three down from the Prem unsurprisingly. Might not be a surprise to some, but it was to me, is how high our current wage structure would rank in the championship this season

A think a few things to think about here.

    1. I’d take those estimates there with a pinch of salt. That estimate puts Blackburn players on less than £6k a week on average. (25 players) Not having it.

    2. Our wage bill has been widely reported but that figure, someone correct me if I’m wrong, is the entire clubs wage bill. Not just playing staff. There is no way our average players wage is £13.5k a week.

  4. The goal of the season voting has just been posted on the official Twitter.

From this lot there is only one winner for me and he’d have won player of the season if he’d been here since August!

I still think the actual goal of the season will (hopefully) be the one that clinches it v Carlisle, and it could go in off James Collins backside for all I care!

People will think I'm being over dramatic, but these are some of the most important games in our history. We've never spent more than two consecutive seasons in this god-forsaken league. Fail to get promoted again this season and there could be a downward spiral. Crowds will fall away, good players will leave, the academy will be ransacked again...

Make it out and maybe we'll look back in a few years and pinpoint this moment as when everything changed, and Derby County rose up the leagues to restore themselves and their reputation among England's footballing elite.

Come on you Rams. Don’t want to agree that we’ll spiral, but another year could lead to 2/5/10 however many more. Let’s do it this year, what a chance we have.

I’m the other way around. It would be icing on the cake to finish top but the overwhelming priority has to be to finish top two. It would be complacent/naive/carless of us to think top two is in the bag now. Of course, I wouldn’t expect PW to looking over his shoulder at the teams below when talking to the team. He, and the team, should literally be focusing on one game at a time (with an aim of winning each one) and not worrying about whether that means we catch Pompey or not.

100% - also if Pompey win it, it most likely means they’ve taken points off Bolton and Barnsley (hopefully not us though) and that would go a long way to meaning 2nd place for us.

Obviously draws would be good and we beat them but 2nd is promotion and that what we need!

Sibley, Ward, TJJ, Berks a complete waste of space.

Mgt absolutely atrocious. All aspects of shape wasted with the subs.

Honestly even if Collins is poor - what is NML up front and TJJ on a wing going to offer you that’s better?

We need two more players - a midfielder and a striker if we want any serious chance of top two.

Think we need more than that!

  8. Any news on where Korey smith is? They seem to have reference every injury in that article except his.

Think what you like about him in midfielder but he’s probably the 2nd best right back at the club after Nyambe.

I’d have him there ahead of Ward that’s for sure
