  1. Great goal from JJ tonight. Great pass from NML and the movement to attack the space between the sticks was perfect.

I get why people say we are a no9 off being in with a shout. But I can’t help feel we are crying out for someone to be able to sit, break up play and dictate the tempo in the middle of the park.

That’s the missing link for me, I just want John Eustace back. Not as manager, Warne in (for now 😉)

We create enough to score anyway and we’d create more if we controlled the game a little more. But it’s league 1 and is what it is I guess.

For what it’s worth I think Bird would much better at this than in the no10-ish role he’s been playing

  2. It won't be long till we are limping towards 22/23k home attendances. Every ounce of optimism has been drained, even if we win tomorrow night, we all know it'll be a tough watch.

Mr Clowes really needs to think about any potential revenue loss, not only for attendances in the coming weeks/months, but also for season tickets next season.

Even if Warne turns results around (I don't think he will for many of the reasons everyone else has covered) I can't see fans flocking to renew if we have to watch the style of football PW sets us up to play.

New manager + feel good factor (Eustace?) = probably closer to 28/30k at the games over xmas and new year

Keep Warne with current feeling = 22/23k attendances and probably limping towards 16k season tickets next year

I really think it is a black and white decision on future revenue and whether that outweighs getting rid of him and his team sooner rather than later.

I hope Mr Clowes chooses wisely so I can enjoy going to Pride Park again 🙂

Was at the game , big shout out for Conor for coming over to a toxic away end and trying to explain his frustrations , same again some shameful behaviour by some of our so called fans, don’t get me wrong it was not a good performance and the ref was a clown  but some of the abuse aimed at most of the players and manager was way over the top

Agree with this. Wasn’t there today. But fair play to Connor coming over, looked toxic. But fair play. Warne got a lot to answer … or Clowes

Clarke-Harris is a no go for me, good striker but 30 years old, why spend all that money on him? You could argue he might get us up, but heavy spending with that same logic is what's got us here in the first place.

There is no plausible situation in which a League 1 club should be spending heavily on a player they have no realistic chance of getting any return on.

    Yeah he’s a massive no go 🤣

maybe most successful teams play 4 at the back for a reason

    Where has this come from?

City played most of last season with 3 at the back and started this season with it.

The teams who went up from this division all played 3 at the back last season.

Bolton are currently 3-0 up at half time 9 points from 9 with 3 at the back.

Our problem is our 3 aren’t very good. Not the fact there are 3 of them.

  6. Not read much of the thread. My two pence worth is that the formation just doesn’t work.

We need 2 strikers. NML isn’t good enough to play in the middle of the pitch. bird isn’t good enough to play that high.

We desperately need a number 10 who can talk the ball on the half turn between the lines.

Think too 6 will be a good finish

Your first sentence implies that half of the fanbase are of limited intelligence with an incontinence problem, which I hope is well wide of the truth 😉.

In your next sentence you talk about him answering questions without giving everything away; I am not seeing that because it seems he just can't stop talking and we get to hear everything he can tell us. As for your observation about him playing things closer to his chest, he just doesn't do that. He spells out clear and loud his thought processes and what he thinks. Liam Rosenior has alluded to that today in his media statement where he said that he respects Paul Warne but he disagrees with him revealing details of the ongoing discussions about Max Bird to the media; Rosenior said that is not his own style and he will not get involved with it. I wonder what Max Bird thinks? I wonder what the other players think - are they allowed any privacy anymore?

I like Warne on the whole and I hope he takes us up but I seriously think that he needs to take a deep breath and consider if he should wind  his neck in a bit and show a bit more discretion. At the moment he seems a bit like a goldfish who loves the world looking in on him and listening to him. I don't think it's helping him but if it satisfies the majority who have an unquenchable thirst for information, whether it's reliable or not, so be it.

    Time for bed 🙂

often doesn’t work. The appointed captain will try to do his job in his way and if others are assuming the role, it can cause confusion and worse. And intelligent leaders understand that if others are asked to lead, then the best course might be to stand back, hence losing the qualities of the best leader. Not to mention that if we have a popular, talented but unsuitable leader (eg Fozzie), the natural leader will be hacked off by the gormless democratic process

    What? 🤣
