The EFL have already cost us dearly without any formal punishments.
Both embargos and a sense we will struggle due to any potential punishments will probably have cost us free agents/cheap additions, and likely affected the negotiations of existing players, without mentioning the inability to plan beyond the end of last season, and now still living in relative limbo.
The ridiculously protracted FFP/Keogh saga has hung over us for 18 months now, and will have cast a shadow of uncertainty that will be felt throughout the club, that has to have an affect on the pitch, as well as keeping genuine buyers at a distance.
I sense in terms of current ownership its probably worn Mel down to a point he just can't be bothered any more, yes maybe he antagonised them first, but they do seem to be on a mission to drag everything out as long as possible for maximum effect.
Its absolutely imperative that any new owners start to repair the damage and get us out of this cycle.

I hope our new owners will have the sense to kiss and make up with the EFL. Fighting your regulator is a mug’s game

It's not panicking it's legitimate concern at this point. The club is six weeks away from the beginning of the season, we have an absolute threadbare squad that couldn't compete for more than a month at this level before putting us bottom (yes it is awful) little idea about future ownership of the club and we're under embargo with an inexperienced managerial team. If this isn't enough to make us concerned about the club's future what is?

As it stands, I'm not expecting anything positive to happen over summer, and for that reason I can't see anything other than relegation. 
Numerous sales to balance the books, no investment, maybe a couple of bang average freebies and a handful of questionable/young loanees coming in at the very last minute.
Also seen nothing from Wazzle to see him as the type of manager who could shape that and whoever we have left into any sort of moderately successful team.
I'm guessing points deduction too, and that will bury us.

Suspect it is DCFC doing something odd with extension which had something in it for Marriott (assume it is not a bog standard extra year that was already in original contract as how could they realistically reject that).
This “something in it for Marriott” assume had something negative for someone else (maybe Posh, or maybe all the other 21 championship clubs) and maybe it’s a standard thing that EFL approve all contracts* but it’s a power they never usually wield.
*Or all clubs in special measures.

I still think there was something in one of the two EFL charge/appeal reports about extending a players contract in such a way as to facilitate our amortisation policy that EFL objected to. @Ghost of Cloughcan you remember?

My gut feeling is, it was a way of re-signing a player on zero pounds like Johnson and letting him go if there was interest the following day. The contract probably kicked in the end of June. The EFL stopped it as they don't like it . Not sure they had grounds too.
