Ipswich didn’t have a league 1 manager last season. Neither did Plymouth. We don’t have to put up with crap at Derby County

That is such a baffling interview
It's the sort of interview you might give after you've just had 20 shots on goal and somehow lost 1-0, not when you've just been deservedly beaten.
"We need to take our chances"
So do Shrewsbury! If both teams took all there chances yesterday, we still would've lost .

Not all League One managers are percentage hoof merchants.
    Nobody is asking for Pep.
But somebody who can actually get us playing some entertaining football with a resemblance of a plan would be nice.
Warne football is just rubbish on the eye. It may have worked for him at Rotherham in the same way Phil Brown had success at Hull or Aidy Boothroyd at Watford.
I don’t care if people view me as entitled. I just want my team to play entertaining football, win or lose.

Because many, like Warne, are poor technical coaches. We won’t ever play McClaren esque football under Warne because he doesn’t know how to coach it.

I had such high hopes for the bloke. Great record in this division, couldn't take Rotherham any further I assumed due to budgets. Let's see what he can do at a big club. And I think now we've all seen what he is capable of. Nothing.
The bloke hasn't grasped the size of the job at all. Did he really think hitting the ball wide as early as possible and smashing crosses into the box was going go down well with supporters? The good managers evolve their ideas over time. He is expecting really technical footballers to become athletes who can run half a marathon and bulldoze the opposition on the break. No wonder tactically we are all over the place.
This squad is top 6 easily, any half decent manager could at least be competitive. We have the biggest wage budget in the league. And what this manager has produced is nothing short of something I'd expect on a Sunday morning on Alvaston Park. Pathetic, amateur standard of football where crossing the ball gets clapped at like seals on our bench. Bottom half league one teams can easily figure out our game plan within 5 minutes. We've got all these quality midfielders and we still insist on avoiding them at all costs when we attack. It is painful to watch. Is this really the best this squad has to give?
I'm done with it. I was so excited to see what he could do with a summer and implement a plan to fire us up the league. Currently, we're firing into the midtable wasteland. It is embarrassing. He's got all these resources at his disposal and quite frankly, he's a rabbit in the headlights facing an inevitable doom.
Lovely man I'm sure. But a football manager who has a clear glass ceiling and has demonstrated he cannot take his work to the next level.

There’s been plenty of polls and a few ‘Warne Out’ comments, but thought I’d start the definitive ‘Warne Out Out’ post, which as fans of a particular Sarf London comedian means ‘properly out!’
No messing, I was on his side at first, but am tired of the utter banality of our football; mid table mediocrity and I don’t care what he did at Rotherham.
Please can we bring back some McLaren-esque footy, something to actually ‘entertain’ the fans? I’m sure I read somewhere that football should be entertaining 🤷‍♂️

    My thoughts
I can't see Warne getting us promoted this year.
The football is pretty dire to watch.
    Home performances are bad.
The players that have been signed don't look to have improved us.
The team from this time last year was better than now.
There have been some crucial injuries.
We have too many old players that flatter to deceive.
I think we have a team with no balance.
We have a team with no credible scoring threat
Our top scorer was signed as a fluke because he came along to a mates testimonial
Can Warne improve what we have got? I'm not sure he can. He has had a while to influence the team and we should be seeing improvements. This is league 1 not the premier league. Not saying that these things can't take time but i'm not seeing any improvement in the side.
I am very reluctant to say a manager should go as that can cause more problems but I don't really want to spend another season in league 1.
I think give Warne until December. If we see improved performances and we are in with a fighting chance of play offs then he stays but if performances remain as they are and play-offs are looking out of reach then he should go to give a new manager time to sign new players and possibly make a fist of getting in the play offs.
Not to sound arrogant but we really shouldn't be in the position we are.

It's no worse than under many other managers until you consider the quality of opposition and our resources relative to theirs.
Not that you're allowed to do that without being shouted down and told you're talking nonsense if you don't have explicit, formal, recorded proof that you're correct, even though all available evidence and reasonable logic points toward what you're saying being true.

I’ve never heard of a modern day manager say I wanted to give up the middle of the pitch to have more play out wide. I can see why we have no control in matches if that’s his tactics.

Even if he gets us out of L1 (which based on current performances ain't happening) does anyone trust him to keep us in the Championship? He gives L1 teams far too much respect, imagine what he'd be like in the Championship.
He's at the wrong club. We need something else.

Hinzy9 reacted to Carl Sagan in One year of Paul Warne
I've been wavering for weeks, but now I'm fully Warne out. The longer he stays at the club, the more he will damage it.
This is a results business and the bottom line is that results, for this level, too poor. One win in the first six home games in League One. If he were delivering results, then everything else would have to be forgiven. He's not, so he deserves to go.
The recruitment has been very poor - I do not believe Warne is of the calibre we need to attract better players. In addition the development and use of players is all wrong. Clowes is boldly continuing to invest in the Academy. Warne couldn't care less. The football from the Academy is (thankfully) different from the first team, but there is no route to develop players from the current academy crop to the first team.
The first team philosophy is one of creating chaos and hoping we benefit more from it than our opponents. At this level, with our financial power, we should be controlling and dominating games. Warne picks the wrong players and sets us up incredibly defensively. And plays unimaginatively. It's all just get it wide quickly and in the box quickly - no threat through the middle, and no midfield control. And he lacks the tactical nous to react and change games as he should.
He seems a nice guy. It's disappointing, but he's clearly not good enough to be the manager of our club. Surely Clowes sees it? How long until he pulls the trigger? Surely not much longer.

Agree very much with the original post. Clough did some great things, but wasn't capable of taking us further and his football was oh so dull. Crowds were going through the floor. Warne has shown he's not capable of taking us forward either, and again his football is dull. Attendances are going to plummet unless something can be done. It's not too late to bring someone (Mac 3 would be great) in who can take what I maintain remains a reasonably talented squad, and turn us into a team that's good to watch and will win automatic promotion. 90-95% of managers could do at least as well as Warne with these players.

Hinzy9 reacted to IslandExile in At least we still have a club.......yeah but...
Last year was a nightmare. The almost unthinkable nearly happened - we were so close to losing our beloved football club, founder members of the football league, champions under Clough and Mackay, FA cup winners after the war and European Cup semi-finalists.
David Clowes, a genuine fan with the means to do so, rescued the club at the last minute. He himself says it "was close".
Thanks to him, we have a club, our club.
We must learn the lessons of the past. We must not get into the same precarious mess ever again.
But....we can move on. We must move on. We should now look forward. We do not have to merely be content that the club is still in existence.
It's ok to demand more from the manager, the teams on the pitch (not just the first team but especially them).
We should demand exciting, entertaining football that gets results. It does not mean that we won't forever be grateful to David Clowes for saving the club.
It means we want Derby County to once again be a beacon for good football. Attacking football. Positive football. Entertaining football.
That means passing football, intricate moves, running with the ball, creating chances. It doesn't mean sitting back and hoping to score from a corner or a free kick.
I like Paul Warne, the man. But I don't like his tactics. I don't like his desire to play 3-5-2 with the players he has available, I don't like his use of players out of position or not giving the academy players a chance. I don't like the emphasis on set pieces rather than attacking play.
Yes, at least we still have a club.
But we are Derby County. The football should be, must be, ought to be better 🐏

Hinzy9 reacted to RoyMac5 in Is expectation too high .
    No.
Why is our expectation too high?
"Full minutes - SCG Meeting with David Clowes and Stephen Pearce 22.09.22
...Paul Warne brings experience and now is his time for a big job at a big club. Other clubs were after him, both those with and those without a manager currently. David Clowes liked how he treats players, and journalists, encouraging everyone to get the best out of themselves."
We have a budget good enough for promotion from this league and a squad with lots of Warnes chosen players in it. Although (again from those minutes) "With regards to the players we signed and his style, Paul is adaptable, but he was after some of our players in the summer. His teams are running teams and he is happy with the players he has."
So Warne was signed for his experience in League 1 promotion, we are a 'big club' and he has a squad he was/is happy with, that he has added to. He also has a good budget from the Clubs owner.
Why shouldn't our expectation be high?
