I guess we can only judge things as we find them ourselves.
This afternoon, I went to a pub for a nephew's birthday party. Chock full of people, not a mask in site, no sign of any virus altering the lives of anyone present.
On the way home, I called in to see my parents.
My mum hasn't been upstairs for 2 months now, as she can't handle the stairs with her arthritis, so sleeps on the settee downstairs. That's a long standing problem, gets worse this time of year for obvious reasons, but can't access the help she needs because of Covid.
My dad retired 2 years ago, just before Covid first arrived, as mobile and healthy as any then 76 year old could be.
I posted on here just after the first lockdown about his decline in health, and how I didn't think he'd survive long, the period since has been no kinder. His legs are so swollen he can barely move, his G.P. referred him to hospital back then, and he's still awaiting an appointment!
If they were to die tomorrow, it won't be of Covid, but it certainly would be because of it.

Last minute change of plan for our biscuit factory.
Our current owners, Two Sisters Food Group, have sold us to a company named Boparan Private Office. Mr. Boparan is also owner of the aforementioned business.....think Mel Morris.......

We face a major restructure but seem to have secured extra business with various retailers alongside a price increase for our products and a promise of some investment.

    Get a jab, don’t get a jab.
Sup to you, why do we have to convince each other to or not too?
I really don’t care if people don’t get the jab, and if I peg it because I’ve had the jab (I know I will die eventually btw) then there’s more gravy for the lucky ones who didn’t get it.
Life’s for living, I’ve heard there’s a flipping great meteor heading our way anyrode.

To be fair just because he voted Democrat doesn't mean he didn't vote right wing and isn't therefore a right wing bullshitter. Before Rees-Mogg and the rest of the hardline back bench nutjobs* ousted the more moderate Tories, the Democrats were probably to the right of the Conservatives who most would consider centre-right. They probably still are.

I’ve had both original covid jabs in May. Didn’t stop me getting Omicron and I won’t be getting anymore.
It’s neither justified or proportionate for me to get one basically every six months for a minor cold that has almost no chance of making me severely ill.
Others are different, I think boosters are a great option for those who are vulnerable, but me personally I won’t be continuing with it.
Also - comments like those made my Trudeau, and in this country Blair and Javid, make me less likely to comply. People don’t react well to be coerced, threatened or scapegoated.

Ok, you're clearly struggling to see that just because an opinion appears to be the majority/popular opinion, it does not mean it is, nor does it make it right.
What do you think was portrayed as the majority/popular opinion in 1930s Germany.
I'll leave that one with you.

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my grandfather did–in his sleep. Not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car.

I’ve had bad luck with both my wives. The first one left me and the second one didn’t.

11 points, 21 games, a team on fire. Maybe we will, maybe we won't, but whatever happens I'll never forget the way these lads and the coaches have gone about their business over this most festive of holidays. An absolute pride of lions who took the baiting chants of the Reading plastics and rammed them firmly back down their throats. Priceless!
If the way we've started this year is in any way indicative of how we'll carry on, we're in for one hell of ride. We don't fear anyone. Buckle up, batten down the hatches and lock up your daughters folks. The Rams have broken loose and are running riot ???

The World Health Organisation should be completely free of any outside interference, corporate or governmental, but unfortunately their funding is heavily dependent on pharmaceutical corporations, either directly or through individuals and politicians with vested interests.
The only way to stop conspiracy theories and genuine scepticism of the whole narrative would be complete transparency of funding from every organisation that advises governments, from politicians to fact checking companies, and yes, from antivaxxers themselves.
Loads of people scoff when people say "follow the money",  but hedge funds, very wealthy individuals and corporations, do not fund research that may hurt their profits.
Full financial transparency is the only way we will ever get honest debate nowadays.
Years ago, a group calling themselves The Taxpayers Alliance were on TV and in all the papers talking about governments wasting tax money on all sorts of stuff. It turned out they were funded by tax dodging corporations to influence less spending on public services while  making tax evasion easier for themselves.
Whatever your views on Covid, vaccines or anything else for that matter, just take a moment to ask yourself "who is funding the information I'm reading or listening to?".
If that info is not easily available, then maybe you should be a tad sceptical until you know a bit more.

Its horrible being old and cynical but unfortunately, thats how our world is. When you think about it, its a very small and powerful group who truly influence the big decisions.

2021 hasn't been easy for a lot of people, even tougher for us Derby County fans that have had to endure and will continue to do so the sleepless nights with the unthinkable, the threat of our club facing possible liquidation.
I just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year, without you, this community would not be here, the community that has allowed fans from not just around the country, but the world to come together and help each other through these difficult times and I'm sure will continue to do so through next year and beyond.
For any players, management, staff, anyone connected to the club that may also be reading this, Happy New Year to you also, I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure many others will agree, you are all making us so proud to be a Ram, we cannot ask anymore from you.
    Let's all go and smash 2022 ?

    Curtis Davies for me.
I know it’s cheating a little but following on from the last game of last season really when he came on to give his all to keep us up, despite not recovering from a serious injury and not knowing if it was his last game in professional football, let alone for Derby.
But at his age, the desire, the passion, the influence he has on this team. I believe it’s infectious for the rest of the players and he must be such a positive role model for the young players coming through. He doesn’t have the armband on, but he’s certainly the captain of this football club.

Just about scraped myself off the ceiling - ooh, err matron!
Great team selection tonight, another fantastic blood and guts performance from the lads, laced with no small amount of good football too. Further credit to Wayne and the coaches; the right subs made at precisely the right time. Full kudos, they got it absolutely spot on tonight in every regard.
For my part, I can't help but love this squad. For years now, even under Mac1 when we had a seriously good footballing side, we always had something of a soft centre. These lads, however, are tough as teak and are showing just the kind of gritty resolve we've so often lacked. In an era when most players seem to be all about themselves, these lads play for each other and the fans. Just watch how they react to every challenge, every save, every goal and every point secured. We talk about pride in the shirt and rightly so. These lads have it in spades. And what about those fans of ours! Our lot are now indisputably the most rabidly fervent collective of madheads anywhere in the EFL. No contest!
All these elements combined have topped off a wonderful festive period for me and mine and I really hope for yous lot too. With another 4 days before I even consider doing any work again and the chance to pop another 3 points on the board in the interim, this has been a holiday I'll not forget for a long while and I'm bursting with pride for this maddening, yet wonderful club of ours. Folks have espoused the opinion that suitors would be mad to invest in Derby County FC. Personally, I think they'd be mad not to.

It's so sad to see people who claim to be on the side of the "good" attacking NHS employees - after what we've all been through these past months
The people who claim to want to have "freedom", impinging on the freedom of others to have the jab if they want it
The people who claim to be against "being told what to do", telling other people what to do
    Pathetic

So far I've just had minor cold symptoms off and on.
Glad I had my vaccinations and booster as soon as they were available.
The lad still testing negative. We are living in seperate parts of the house which I think both of us are enjoying to an extent
Managed to get him boosted on the 20th. He should have just been getting some cover when I became infectious

Interesting/ironic/exciting that, at a time when DCFC are at their lowest ebb, Derbyshire non-league clubs appear to be enjoying a renaissance.
If the worst happens, it's good to know there's plenty of options for watching competitive football around the county.
