I really hope this is the last time we play them for a long long time.
No hatred for the weird little club, it’s just that, well it’s weird. Their fanbase is basically the Derby fans doing anything to avoid shopping and DIY when Derby are away.
They even sign ex Derby players in the hope we have some chants to bring across, make some kind of atmosphere in a ground that doesn’t have the capacity to host the Staffordshire tiddlywinks competition.
The 50 legitimate Burton fans try to create some kind of rivalry on social media, Leicester on a much smaller insignificant scale basically.
BBC have no real interest in covering them, we’ve drawn the short sympathy straw in giving them 5 minutes coverage here and there.
Let’s not pretend either here that the whole town doesn’t smell, and that’s saying something whilst sat here in Grimsby..
Stinks more than those pub team kits they get each season and that’s saying something.
The kit manufacturers look like the made up companies Forest have started to create to bypass P&S through rogue sponsorships.
We could probably have a whip round on here and afford to sponsor the front of their shirts next season, although I would rather we had a whip round for a more worthy cause than funding a club who’s fans travel to away in a shopping trolly.
    Anyhow, I think we’ll win 3-1.

No, I’m sorry - it’s cheating and I am sick of watching it. Eddie Howe’s Burnley team stood out as despicable cheats but now we see it every week. Players holding their heads so the ref stops the game only to have the physio look at their foot, two players simultaneously needing treatment for no reason, players crawling on to the pitch to get treatment and the weak refs that let them get away with it, shoe laces needing tying, players with cramp, players getting cramp whilst aiding other players with cramp, goalkeepers told to feign injury whilst there is an impromptu team talk and re-organisation - it’s cheating. What makes it worse are the s*** refs who happily let it happen. If you want treatment and you are on the touch line having just crawled on to the pitch, crawl off it again. I’m sick and tired of watching it and this year has been far worse than anything I can ever remember.

One of those games where we could have won 4-0 with just a bit of composure. I blame Warne a bit for wanting everything to be open and free-flowing even with a lead. If we played that smartly then we don't concede.
Positives were Hourihane had his best game for us and Barkz was closer to the player we expected him to be. Collins starting to look a bit more like a forward than an angry bollard too.

I have to say the policing of the match was awful. Overly aggressive, constantly hassling people having a drink and imo they goaded many younger lads into stepping out of line then nicking them .
There were a few arrests near the end of the match . I’m not sure what happened but the police waded in heavy handed and smiling while the nicked the supporters.
Even after the match there were 8 police cars and two meat wagons in 1 road leading to the Queen’s gate shopping precinct. There were also plain clothed coppers all with hand held cameras filming everyone ( which also went on in the match . I guess the CVTV cameras weren’t up to it)
The coppers we’re chasing a lad around the market square and 3 of them had him on the ground and the police football officer who had been hassling supporters in the Charters pub earlier then gave the lad 4 swift right hands into his ribs in full view of people walking by.
When a bloke shouted “leave him alone he’s cuffed up” the PFO told him to pi$$ off .
The last bit of goading was on the train station. The police were in everyone’s face being aggressive , then stepped back and an argument started with 2 groups of lads and just as the train pulled in they nicked a few of them
Sorry for the rant but this was the worst policing I have seen since the 80s and I wouldn’t rush to go back again .

Yes Lampard did have options. He could  and should have started with Marriott and Waghorn. They probably couldn’t last the 90 minutes, but were scoring freely. And Villa’s reaction when they finally did get on the pitch confirms that they should have started.
We should have hit them hard, got in front then changed the strikers over, which is much better than saving your better strikers for when you are chasing the game. Oh, and neither should Frank have left it soooooo late to bring them on, ie too late.

I think McGoldrick has to start if he is fit.  He has been fantastic in these home games against the bottom half teams.  Get the game won early and sub him off if possible.

I’ve not watched as many games as most on here, but genuine question: isn’t Barkhuizen better than Dobbin? As in end product/goals/crosses etc? Especially while we’re still trying to find our strongest 11/get back to winning ways.
feel like Toms been unlucky. And this is not a diss on Dobbin, he’s mustard. But just much better suited to coming on after 70 mins and scaring the bejeezus out of tired legged league one defenders..?

Don't like 3/5 at the back.
I'd prefer Rooney back in at right back, Smith into midfield in place of White, until Bird is fit again.
Other than that, rotate as necessary to keep everyone fresh. Or simply train less. Players prefer games to training.

Yep and gap to 7th same. Not long ago our discussions were around potentially starting on -15 if big mike screwed the creditors over. Cant be an excuse forever but while we're still under the sanctions due to MM we shouldnt forget

I look forward to Peterborough causing a stink as too there relegation having finished 4 points behind  and Derby asking why they could bring in Tom Ince and two others players on loan and pay off a manager under embargo, whilst we couldn't renew a players contract for 4 months who was already here and being paid under there agreed remit.

Nervy until 2-0 up. McG and Dobbin best on pitch for me. Few nice moments second half from Knight and NML. Beautiful ball out from Wildsmith to (I think) Springett. Good minutes from Barks, Springett and Thommo. Particularly disappointed with one player having a real dip in form who misplaced every ball all match but hopefully he'll come through it.
shout out to the tiny ball boy who placed ball for their timewasting goalie in 1st half.  And well done ref - she screeched at someone first half in that voice my boys know so well!
why did it take so long to get traffic moving tonight with smaller crowd?

Love that ballboy - he's Wildsmith's little helper. Their antics in achieving the slowest possible ball retrieval when we're winning often earn a round of applause at our end of the ground.
So, doubly delightful to see him geeing up the Cheltenham goalie. You can't kid a kidder!

That doesn't compensate the team (or the fans) for the effect of constantly broken-up play and lost momentum though. And if they only wasted 9 minutes less the 30 seconds added on automatically for every goal (1) and substitution during the half (4), I'd be surprised. That said, I was expecting no more than 5 minutes, because that was the level of competency I was witnessing.
Book the keeper for the 2nd or 3rd offence, then warn the captain that any further clear time-wasting will be punished with an instant yellow card, and we might have seen a game of football.

The last time we played like that was Ipswich and Exeter in October which prompted us to dump that awful 3 at the back system and go on a mad unbeaten run. Drop one of the strikers for White, go back to how we were playing with Bird in the team and I can see us doing it again. Today was just a minor blip and for me a reminder that we shouldn't be matching teams at hoofball.
Forgot to add - What a great goal from Dobbin, hopefully that'll give him some confidence and he'll get a few more. As soon as he finds his shooting boots he'll be a seriously good player.

Wednesday fan in peace. Tough times for us both, 2 great clubs who’s fans deserve better than what we are getting at the minute. Hope you guys join us in the top 2 come end of the season. On current form, there’s no doubt about it. Have great memories of the baseball ground. That epic 3-3 fa cup game in 1993 is the best away game I’ve been to. Up the owls & rams ?
