The atmoshpere is down to the football. There is virtually nothing to cheer or get excited about. If we were consistantly playing good exciting atacking football the crowd noise would be fantastic.

Under Rooney the fans were excellent as they could see the effort and desire was there but at the moment it’s just Meh.

What do you mean "only" 3 points off the playoffs? At this end of the table, 3 points is a huge gap.

Not to mention that the team in 6th were not a few hours ago putting in an absolute stinker at Pride Park and could have easily walked away with a win if they could just about be bothered

We are 11th. Which means there are 4 teams better placed to take that 6th spot, should one of those playoff teams slip up and drop points.

And that's the task ahead of us to just get to 6th, the very last playoff spot. We are 6 points off the top two. Promotion this year is another dimension away. We are so far away from success, if we even dream about promotion we better wake up and apologise to the 10 teams above us in the league

Wake up. We are dead in the water. It's not wrist slashing to face the facts.

We should be looking at automatic promotion this season no excuses and the way we are going we look worse than last season and are miles off from looking like a top 6 side in a poor division.

After today's game, not in wrist-slashing mode like a lot seem to be. In the circumstances (injuries, playing an unbeaten team etc etc) thought it was a decent point. We've just come off the back of 3/4 tough games and we are still only 3 points off the play-offs. Personally, I think we'll improve and the performances and results will start to pick up in coming weeks. But there you go. Maybe I'm being too optimistic.

Not sure what makes you think performances will improve I’ve seen nothing to suggest that’s just around the corner.

I think the last 8-10 years as a Derby supporter should show you that the key to us having a good defence is actually the midfield.

All good / record setting runs we've had for not conceding goals have coincided with the balance being right in the middle, with those same defences/defenders looking hapless when we didn't have a good DM in place.

Like that spell when Bielik returned under Rooney, next to Shinnie, in front of a defence made up of Wisdom, Byrne, Matt Clarke (covered by Forsyth for a couple of games) & Buchanan which only conceded 4 goals in 12 games.

Not that they were bad defenders but Wisdom couldn't head a ball and the full backs were similarly attacking, Clarke far from fast.. that defence would have some problems if played in the way we do currently but looked almost impenetrable with the right midfield.

100% our midfield is giving very little protection so far the balance hasn’t been right.

Looking like a natural replacement for Knight with his non-stop energy. I think the better performances since the injuries that saw Tommo come in, seem to show that a MF 3 of Smith, Bird and Hourihane doesn't have the speed/urgency necessary for this League. When everybody is fit, for me, Tommo would stay in. Bird would either be on the bench or replace Smith. Hourihane is probably safe as he's the skipper.

I like Bird. He's class. I remember last season. 20 odd games unbeaten and Bird was central to that run. He got injured and we went off the boil.

Yes I think when fit our best midfield is Tommo Bird and Hourihane for me Smith has looked ok at Right back but midfield to lightweight and to safe with his passing.

Wigan was OK. Their two goals came from a mis-hit back pass for the first and the 2nd saw Wildsmith come for the ball and miss it and then Wyke had both hands full of Cash's shirt, thereby preventing him from jumping. It was a foul that wasn't given. Goal should not have stood. Blackpool was poor. Burton was a better performance. They had more possession but did little of note with it. Oxford game had its moments but they were the better side on the night yet did little more than us when it came to chances created.

There's a lot of work to do, that's obvious but there is the odd chink of light at the end of the tunnel.

With regard to any compo should Mr Clowes decide to ring the coaching changes, the money will come from the club, not from his personal funds. He has been consistent in saying the club will be self sufficient and sustainable.

Interested to know what chinks of light you’ve seen so far because I can’t think of any.

Lets not believe Warne cant always stop the rot, he does have 2 relegation's on his CV, 3 if you count 2017 as he was temp manager from November.

My worry is for the first time in a long time, when I watch us i am not sure what we are trying to do, well apart from lump it and hope we score from Set pieces. The centre backs he has brought in show he doesn't want to play passing football, they are awful on the ball.

They are pretty awful at defending to.

Sometimes you can have a great performance on the field and the result goes against you,  but performances like these are worrying. I see nothing out there that says promotion this season.

And a gap is already starting.

This is why I’ve had enough it’s not the defeats it’s the performances and I can’t see it getting any better 😢

The really worrying thing is, Wigan, Blackpool and Oxford have all tried to play football against us, play out from the back and through midfield and stuff.  Those are the sort of games we *should* be good in - we’re supposedly setting up to press teams that do that.  I was more worried about how we were going to break down the teams that just sat deep and tried to stop us playing.

Stop us playing? I’m still waiting for that 3 games in 🤣

Sonny Bradley has got to be one of the worst defenders I’ve ever seen play I remember him being fairly decent at Luton but he’s like a Claude davis Albentosa hybrid. The whole defence and midfield look totally inept. I bet Warne will be gone by Christmas if this carries on not sacked but Resign

Anymore performance’s like our last 3 at home and we will be in a relegation fight at Xmas

    He passes it straight tonight.

Straight to one of their players that led to their first goal didn't he?

I know it's early days so I'm trying not to overreact but I really thought Nelson and Bradley would be a major boost to the team and give us a solid foundation. As it is though, they seem to be more of a liability.

Fozzy and Cashin in a back 4 Sat as sadly Bradley and Nelson just don’t look very good.

Awesome performance second half. Was involved in everything positive and should have got the goal his performance deserved. If he has bids in for him it didn't show and showed some quality link up play nml. Keep it going max lad 🐑

He’s a good young player and it baffles me why some people give him stick 🤷

I disagree. I was at the game and watched it live. Bradley wasn't winning balls at either end of the pitch and he was hesitant in playing out from the back.

Not doing anything might not be making mistakes but I think it is his job in the centre to organise the defence and lead by example. I saw a lot of that from Fozzy last night and very little of it from Bradley.

Nelson's distribution was dreadful going forwards and far too often he turned back and took the easy option.

Spot on and what I have seen so far Fozzy is comfortably better than both of them.

I dont recall our defence getting done for pace yesterday. They got behind our defence twice, the first from Bradley's through ball to Wyke, the second from Bradley being out of position and leaving a massive gap. If that's going to be a reoccurring issue, then it needs on of Nelson or Cashin to tuck inside to fill the gap.

Our wing backs were our main attacking threat. Ward's crossing was excellent, Forsyth was fantastic at getting on the end of them, and Wilson showed the rest of thr team how to dribble and take a man on.

We didn't play with 3 CMs and I'm not sure how anyone can describe Smith and Hourihane as "similar".

Similar as in Smith and Hourihane are not particularly mobile and certainly don’t protect the defence from runners etc. I agree we looked a threat from the right side but that seemed our only plan all game.

For me Smith is nowhere near good enough, he waves his arms around a lot but achieves very little. If Warne seriously thinks that Smith is better than Bird in CM, and that Bird is a number 10 then I am really concerned about his ability to manage our football club.

    Totally agree

Well it seems we have settled on our scapegoat, glad it didn't take 5 or 6 games, why waste time.

Yes and let’s play him in a different position that obviously doesn’t suit him and play Smith in his position who is bang average at best.

I agree, i dont think the balance is quite there atm especially midfield.

unlike many im happy to give warne this season at least to continue to shape and mould.

weve brought 8 players in and we still have a tiny squad, imo the club still needs re couperation time from being on deaths door

I’m happy to give Warne until the end of Oct and if we are not around the top 8 in a very poor division I would be getting restless. He got a lot wrong yesterday but we still didn’t deserve to lose but we didn’t deserve to win either and Wigan weren’t great.
