Didn’t think today was great, full backs offered very little going forward. Much better with wing backs which is unusual.

Still have issues with that midfield three, it’s too one paced, samey and defensive. If bird is the attacking mid he doesn’t get in the box enough. I know he scored two in the week. Just doesn’t look natural attacking. Is a real lack of goals through the team. Which is nothing new.

we just seem to have more questions than answers all the time.

The midfield 3 is still not right I still prefer Bird deeper as he’s good on the ball and protects the back four better than Hourahan and Smith. Im not actually sure what Smith does.

To be fair, he's not talking about his signings.

He is talking about Bird, Hourihane, Sibley, Smith, Barkhuizen,  Mendez-Laing, Cashin, Fozzy.

They'll all be gone at the end of the season and then we'll see what a Warne team is really like.

I'm not looking forward to it.

Great even more players just running around and smashing the ball towards the corner flag 😢

This is the rubbish that is still being touted. Not play football but kick the opposition harder!!! Street-fighting, they played better football. 😄 All we could do was keep lobbing the ball into their box. What a tactical genius Warne is!

This just shows what Warne is all about we get beat playing very little football and his answer is run more be more physical etc how about try and play some football ? I’m sick of this garbage being served up.

This exactly....I've always been told good football will beat physical teams , you have to be tough still of course especially in this division and have an element of physicality  but a good prem or championship  side for example wouldn't be worried about playing Stevenage and wouldn't make excuses if they lost saying it was because they wasn't physical enough lol  as they would have the opposition chasing shadows ...

This is the whole point some see it that we should be more like a L1 side and mix it more and have more L1 traits  but some see it that we should play like a decent level side and build something more sustainable should we ever get promoted and thats where i am with it

100% agree if you try and play the right way in this division we would be to good for most of this lot but we are stooping to some League one teams game plans and we aren’t very good at it.

You have a very short memory me owd. Slagging Mr Clowes off after he saved the club from extinction ? Poor form, very, very poor form.

    You a multi-millionaire are ya…? Thought not.

Warne has not worked out that’s obvious and these things happen in football but giving Clowes stick ? We simply wouldn’t have a club to support. Having said that please sack him 🤣🐑🐑🐑

I'm feeling very sad at the moment.

I'm not sure what is going wrong. I really wish things were different and we could be joyful and positive at this point in the season.

I don't know whose fault it is. I like Paul Warne but we don't seem to be improving.

I like PW and wanted him to succeed so much.

Hate to hear the booing and the chants, and now we are 10th.

It’s fine to like him I’m sure he’s a good person but he’s Certainly not a good manager.

A lot seems to be made of our play being mostly counter attacking.

Whilst I agree that we don’t seem to dominate possession, there is an art in forcing mistakes and being quick in transition.

Perhaps this might not suit the  ‘purists’ eye or those who perhaps watch too much Sky coverage of the Premiership, however Leicester City managed to runaway with the PL relying on just this style of play.

Again, I’m not condoning it however, I do think we have the players who can play both possession based and also counter attacking football at this level. If might be part of PWs masterplan or then  again perhaps not.

It’s one thing doing it in the Prem but doing it in a poor league one? We are better than that.

No difference in terms of goals scored , in fact in the 2nd half it went down.

We actually looked more dangerous 2nd half as Bird actually plays it on the floor to another Derby player which is quite refreshing. He was doing it that well the manager decided it was a good idea to move him. Why?

You Have to earn the right to play football.

i would have thought in this league that probably applies even more so

i remember robbie savage describing the midfield area in the champioship as “a battle ground”

hes right u have to do the hard graft and te nasty stuff before u earn the right to play

Of course there are other ways to play .. keep the ball, if they dont have it they cat harm u etc but thats not warnes philosophy so it is what it is

So we just have to accept this football and just pretend everything is ok?

It is hyperbole to say “no other team in this division would be happy with the performance or result yesterday”. Plenty of other teams in this league would be happy to go away from home, dominate the game against their opponents, and have a point to take home.

Teams looking to get promotion will not be happy with a point at Cheltenham for Gods sake.

See this is another example of that extreme hyperbole that goes on without much balance. I think plenty of teams in this league would be happy to get a point away from home.

I didn’t say we, as Derby County fans or the club itself should be “happy with the result”, I also didn’t say we should be happy with the performance. What I did say is it’s nowhere near as a bad a performance as some are making it out to be. I get that Warne isn’t everyone’s choice, I understand why people aren’t enjoying some of the football this season, but yesterday we had plenty of possession, there were passes between blue shirts, and we had plenty of shots that were either poorly executed or well saved. It is a frustrating result, it’s 2 points dropped against a team we should have beaten, it’s not the worst we’ve played this season by a long distance.

It’s not hyperbole we should be beating the worst side in the division by some distance and the worst thing for me is when we do try and play a bit of football we create chances so why don’t we get the football on the floor more ?

Nope..slept on it and I am still furious about yesterday’s match. I rarely comment on this forum, but I enjoy the comments and banter. Living just outside Cheltenham, this game is a bit special for us, with some of us living within walking distance of Whaddon Road and rarely being able to get tickets for away games. So we had 6 seats in the Cheltenham fans.

Furious, because for the first 20 minutes of the second half Max Bird ran the game from central midfield and we had Cheltenham on the ropes. Then inexplicably Bird gets moved forward to the number 10 role to accommodate the ineffective Hourihane. After that we should still have won it against such poor opposition, but to move Bird was tactically inept and made us less effective.

100% agree Bird was a class above when he came on running the game from deep so what does Warne do ? Move him further forward to get Hourihane on the pitch. I just don’t get it.
