Joyce Dawson, 54, from Middlesbrough, was watching the news on Tuesday night when she decided to make her first ever visit to London to see the Queen lying in state.
“I texted my daughter and said: ‘We have to go to London tonight,’” she said. “It was a spur of the moment thing.”
She and her daughter Shelby, 26, took the midnight coach from Middlesbrough to join the queue at 8am on Wednesday.
She was one of tens of thousands who flocked to the capital on Wednesday for the first chance to glimpse the Queen lying in state at Westminster Hall.
“It’s just nice to be a part of this,” Joyce said, while she waited. “It’s exciting. I’m like a little kid.”

I dunno, don't think he is shot, with Bird and Hourihane we are kind of playing with two deep-lying playmakers who are not the quickest. The midfield is crying out for more energy. We know Bird doesn't offer that, and neither did Hourihane at Villa. I just don't think they can both play together, and it is making them both look very underwhelming. It has to be one or the other for me, if we do that, then maybe, just maybe, we shall start to see the best of them.

Yes because no actual right back has ever conceded a penalty before.

The last 30 years? They haven't won the league since 1927 (before that it was 1909), the FA Cup since 1955 and their only European title is an Anglo-Italian cup win in 1973. They've spent a quarter of their entire history playing below the top level.
How long can you be massive underachievers before you accept that your level is the one you've consistently been at for the majority of the past 100+ years?
Are we really holding something they achieved 5 years short of a century ago as evidence to their size as a club?
What success exactly is it that's being brought back? Ah yes, the glory days of 1905-1909 & 1996-1997. 7 seasons out of 129 years.
They had a couple of flash-in-the-pan spells under Dalgliesh(?) & Keegan where they challenged for the Premiership title (as it was called all 25 years ago) but they were seasons in which the club overachieved, they weren't the norm, nor an indication of their true level.
Their true level is lower to upper-mid table "Premier League" , with the odd flirtation with the top two, and the occasional drop down to a lower level. Exactly as it has been for the past 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90+ years.

Mardiness because he celebrated scoring against us and made an ill-advised comment on social media last time out.
People claiming it means he 'hates' us, totally ignoring the context that he was here for something like 11 years, because we 'let him go' (read: got a good offer for him and decided to sell, because our priority was playing more experienced players with the aim of avoiding relegation)
Also ignoring that he was never really given a chance here, was handled appallingly by Rooney in his attempt to 'make his mark' - dragged off after being subbed on one game, in tears - with his commitment questioned, grouped in with Duane Holmes (fair enough he wanted out) & later Waghorn, a player who's never given anything less than 100% but got picked on because he was 'mucking about' or something in training one time.

Would you do it on your driving test? No.
Not sure why people feel the need to "help" other drivers out of junctions - we're capable of getting out of junctions by making our own decision on when there is a suitable gap.
It's people thinking they know better than the rules of the road.
Rather than random signals that mean different things to different people at different times, maybe we could help each other out by  following the rules that we were supposed to learn.
Plus it's an absolute classic crash for cash technique.

Write it into the Profit & Sustainability rules?
They already do this with sponsorship / commercial deals requiring third party validation to make sure the deal represents fair market value https://www.mishcon.com/news/the-premier-leagues-new-profitability-and-sustainability-rules
There surely has to be something they can add to the rules on transfers that would stop, for instance, Watford selling a player to Udinese for 4-5 times the amount they paid for no more than 20 (largely unimpressive) appearances ago?

Goal difference twice as bad as any of the other teams in the relegation places already. Probably only until the others play Man City, but still.
They weren't exactly a controlling force in the Championship last season were they? Plenty of games where they let the opposition have the initiative, looked poor but seemed to get a bit lucky,  exemplified by their playoff games where they weren't the better team in general play in any of them and relied on penalty saves and crap VAR to see them through.
Do they know they can't get away with it quite so easily in the PL?

Chance cleared off the line and a goal conceded against Peterborough from balls played into the RCB area and put toward the back post where there's a man free. Equaliser today from a ball into the RCB area then played across to a.man free at the back post. Bit of a pattern appearing.

As Rosenior would tell you, it's not about picking the best starting 11 it's about picking the best 16/18 and understanding how each player fits the overall plan to win the game.
Sibley may be gutted not to start, but McGoldrick may offer something in this game against this opposition that Sibley wouldn't. Alternatively Sibley buys into the overall plan and for the game and actually isn't gutted at all, and  having gained some form and confidence from his recent performances will be subbed on against a tiring defence, full of confidence and drive should the game be calling out for that.
If you think about it from the opposing side's view, an in form Sibley & Dobbin coming on for the last half hour is not something they'll relish, nor is having to deal with McGoldrick's skill and NML's pace all game.

Think the idea that a player being dropped from the starting XI and taking it badly is pretty outdated tbh, like they're all mardy little children who can't handle the idea that it's a team game and they may not always start.
Being dropped from the squad or constantly being played out of position when you do get a chance and then your lack of performance being blamed on you, yes, but used correctly as part of the squad, subbed on in your correct position, fresh and full of vigour and confidence, totally different ball game.
