If that is true forcing a prospective  buyer to place money in what is known as an escrow account is a smart move, praise where praise is due

Not entirely unrelated to this thread I get the principles behind FFP but the reality we are seeing this season with the exception maybe of Barnsley having a cracking season is a league that is in danger of becoming a closed loop from the Premier League which is fuelled by the parachute payments, same/similar clubs yo-yoing between the two, the increase in punishments to clubs in our league making them too afraid to dare to dream of anything other than staying in the league.
The 3 coming down next season all have obvious claims of bouncing back, Brentford/Bournemouth/Swansea depending on who goes up will be thereabouts again.
I'm well aware we have far bigger issues of our own to worry about but if I was a neutral I'd say this league is in real danger of going from exciting to boring very fast.

Im not quite sure I understand this hate for fans and players celebrating yesterday. Did everybody just expect them to shake hands and walk off? Mediocrity shouldn’t be celebrated, but it’s pure relief that we can finally put this season to bed.

You'd like to think that in the aftermath of Covid, lockdowns and every football related nightmare we've endured this last year, that fans being overjoyed at surviving the threat of relegation might be something we're allowed to enjoy without self-righteous criticism from some quarters. Its only one or two though so perhaps best ignored. ?‍♂️

It’s exactly this. It’s pure relief and emotion spilling out. We’d be hammering the players for not caring if they just snuck off after the match.

Peak Derby right there. Going into that game I actually thought we had a chance, do you remember what they felt like?

Let’s be honest now, at the time we were flying, you’d be hard to pressed to find many posters on here he didn’t think he should have been given the job permanently. We were winning games, keeping cleaning sheets (remember all the posts about how we’d gone so many games without facing a shot on target?) and more importantly we were gradually moving away from the relegation zone. Whats happened since the new contract though is the key injury to Beilik and the complete over complication of tactics in approach to each game.

Of course, Rotherham are the team that everyone will be sweating over, but I wouldn’t discount Wednesday just yet.
They have four home games still to play and their win over Cardiff might give them hope that they can find some results from somewhere.
That said, we should be fine. If we can’t get the 4-6 points needed, we will totally deserve League 1 football.

Are the positive posters here the same people as the positive posters on the Abu Dhabi thread? I suspect so.
Did we heed the warnings from the Newcastle fan?
This guy Erik, may be good, may be bad, may be somewhere in between but, you know, we've all read the same things and my gut instinct is that this guy is more mouth than trousers. Always trust your gut instinct.
I fail also to understand why, if there's a 'Dream' owner waiting in the wings, Mel doesn't wait 3 or 4 weeks for it. No sense to it, he's waited this long so why is it all of a sudden a rush job?
None of this adds up to me.  I take no pleasure in it.

    Summary of Athletic article:
    Pride Park included in sale.
Alonso family form part of consortium along with several others.
Dad was on Real Madrid board.
Family have experience of football business/ marketing
Morris likely not to be involved moving forward.
Formality it seems of passing EFL test.
    Not part of VOX.
Role at Sheffield Wed involved engagement/transparency with fans.
Another good article by Ryan Conway, sounds promising.

Frankly as long as he isn’t either a criminal, a complete admitted misogynist / homophobe / anti semite bigot and doesn’t publicly incite violence or repression of dissent then his personal politics don’t interest me. Add in that maybe he is a VOX reformer ? Do we know ? Should we know ? If we know, is it really for us to pass judgment ?
Thing is we don’t all think the same .. and why should we. ? And why if someone has a different view on tackling an issue are they somehow undesirable, unsuitable or not allowed to voice it ? It certainly shouldn’t reflect on his ability to broker a deal or run a football club.

I reckon today’s self appointed moralists are every bit as bad, hypocritical, self congratulatory and judgmental as the dyed in the wool old boys of times past. One “establishment” replaces another in near seamless fashion. It’s part of life.

Came a bit out of the blue this really didn’t it, trying to get my head round why somebody would want to commit to buying a club that could well be relegated in a months time.
The bloke absolutely screams amateur hour, the fact he’s already been turned into a meme on twitter doesn’t exactly bode well.

The big question though is where is the money coming from? The athletic are reporting that the club has been bought outright with no debt or borrowing involved, so somebody’s got some money. Have to see how this unravels I guess, certainly doesn’t fill me with confidence mind.
