Really don't understand the meltdown going on here. From the tone you'd think we'd just sacked Brian Clough rather than choosing not to make permanent an interim manager who has done an OK job.

Yes, there seems to be plenty of fans who don't know the meaning of the word 'interim'. Maybe Clowes has accessed the situation we're in and the way things are going and decided to choose a different type of manager.

What the hell is this post .
Saying that about Clowes is well out of order .

The clue as to what might happen was always in the title "INTERIM..." so there was always a plan to REVIEW and the Board have decided to appoint an alternative. Looks and sounds like logical and calculated stewardship to me not "...David Clowes playing Football Manager."

I for one am shocked that their strategy of spending £150m is not working out for them. Shocked I tell you.

Some posters had seen enough after we failed to breakdown a stubborn Shrewsbury defence in our 4th game. Think it was still mid-August.

To right you should be shocked. I'd have thought £100m would have been plenty for Olympiacos to win the Greek league next season.

Very disappointed with tonight and a few bad calls from him recently but any calls for Rosnenior’s head are reactionary. That was really embarrassing to watch the Lincoln fans taking the piss but don’t be daft.
And before anyone says anything, it’s none of the ‘oh we barely had a football club a few months ago, why can’t you just be happy?!’
No, it’s because we’re less than ten games into the season with a brand new squad and a first time manager!
Anyone with half a brain knew it was going to be a tough start to the season with a team still gelling and Rosenior still figuring out his best XI
I also want everyone on here overreacting to remember what every bloody fan of Portsmouth, Sunderland, Ipswich etc said to us about coming down the league one; there are games where you get embarrassed in a Lincoln/Plymouth’s cup final and it’s f****** horrible.
A few people have tricked themselves into thinking that wouldn’t happen to us and are detached from the grim reality of League One
Tonight was pretty bad but I don’t think it’s any reason for Rosenior to go. The away form is a long-standing issue but we’ve been unlucky to not win our other away games.
Rosenior was also crucial in assembling this squad, they’ve come to play for him. I really don’t think after a mediocre start we should be getting rid of the manager, regardless of experience.
Couple wins and we’re back in it. Another 10 or so games of not scoring and then you start looking to see if we can do better than Rosenior. But he deserves a bit of faith and patience here, we will start converting soon.

Only team in the English football leagues to not score away from home. Unlucky or not that’s a horrific stat that needs changing if we want to stay in league 1

In the same way that many clubs who were once in the PL view themselves as PL clubs still (ask a Stoke or Bolton fan etc and I'm fairly sure they'd say "we're a Premier League club, we should be up there") there is now a small cohort of teams emerging who equally think they deserve to be an elite club. Their fans then insist on the club spending elite money on players in the hope of getting into the CL but the obvious major obstacle to this is that there are only four places in it.
When you have 7 or 8 clubs competing for 4 CL places then half of them will lose out and have their delusions of grander burst in front of their eyes. For me this is what is happening to Leicester now, and may happen to Newcastle in the future too.

Just like the the gap between Prem and Championship, the gap between Prem and Champions League is destabilising football.

Unless you're one of the 'Big Six' you can guarantee that your number will be up for relegation eventually. I remarked to a Leicester fan I know just before the season started that I thought they would now begin the slow slide.
They were never going to be able to compete with the bigger clubs over the long term and it seems silly to think they could, yet that appears to be how some of their fans think.
Also, I'm not Brendan Rodgers' biggest fan (that would be Brendan Rodgers) but to want him sacked is odd to me. In 40 years time they will speak of him with reverence as 'our FA Cup winning manager', but for now they want him gone as they have lost sight of that.

That's the nature of modern football. It was the same with Ranieri. Lead the club to a historic league title and got binned 8 months later having taken them to the last 16 of the European Cup.

Brendan Rodgers is similar to Harry Redknapp. Achieved an FA Cup win with a smaller club but ultimately done so on a budget that was beyond their means. Their wage bill is unsustainable.
You are right in that every side outside the top six is a relegation candidate. I used to think it was a top seven with Everton, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see them drop at some point now.
Teams like Southampton, Brighton and Brentford deserve respect. Their wage bills are all £40m or under for the year. Incidentally Palace were at £60m last year. That seems unsustainable too.
I thought Wolves would be high but they were at £35m too. Probably subsidized by Mendes.
Also, if you want to read something ridiculous, Derby’s annual wage bill under Lampard hit £40m.
