My thoughts are that it feels like proper football. I’m becoming increasingly alienated by modern, elite football. I watch it less and less now, and when I do watch it, the enjoyment is sucked out by the way it’s organised and run.
There’s real supporters who support less glamorous clubs because they love them. Not because they win anything or because it’s a tourist attraction. 1700 fans travelled from little Carlisle, just to watch their team that were relegated weeks ago. That’s proper football.
There’s obviously far less money, the facilities are nowhere near as good, the players can’t quite play the same kind of football, but it’s strangely enjoyable.
From scoring two in added time at Port Vale, to Wilson’s header against Bolton, to watching Collins’ penalty at Forest Green from a grass verge outside the ground because the one single turnstile wasn’t working quick enough, it’s been great.
Although saying that, I’m hoping we don’t have to return any time soon!

The Carlisle fans summed it all up for me,
I met some on the train yesterday who were brilliant. About 30 of us Derby fans got on at Utch station to a chorus of, "your just a bus stop in Stoke" from them. 🤣 A couple of us were offered cans of beer from them and the banter was great,
Walked up to the ground with some blokes who were sound and very respectful about Derby as we were with them. Proper fans of a proper club, they've had very little to cheer over the years but the miles they put in following their club is unbelievable.
Good luck to Carlisle, hope they have a swift return to League 1 and to all the other clubs who have fans who choose to follow their local team rather than be plastic supporters of Man Utd or Liverpool.

I prefer it to the Premier League.
If you're outside the clique of Premier clubs then each game is just damage limitation.
I hope the top six or whatever leave for some TV super league (Harlem Globetrotters anyone?) and the top domestic league becomes more competitive as a result.
Even the championship is now ruined as a competition by parachute payments tilting the balance.
At least League One was competitive, unpredictable and, in the most part, entertaining.

Same rule applies whenever we're in this position - just don't do anything daft.

Sadly this will be my last match today. My first was in 1956 as a 13year old, My dad used to take me before that but he stopped going when we went down to the third division north. My mate and I would catch the 12 oclock bus from Melbourne and be the first in the ground. We stood in the Normanton end pigeon loft, I think it was 3 shilling. To this day I remember that team. We were champions in 1957 and I ran onto the pitch after the last match against Southport, Ray Straw scored 37 goals that season, The next ten years saw me start work, get married and have two children, I had moved to Derby, and after my family, the Rams were the most important thing in my life I never missed a home game in those ten years even though we were only an average second division side. And then in 1966 after England won the world cup my mate and I decided to have a season ticket, Little did we know what would happen that season, I was at work one day and a Rams supporting work mate told me we had signed a player from Bradford Park Avenue, his name was Kevin Hector I'd never heard of him but he was without doubt the most wonderful footballer to grace the Baseball Ground I had ever seen, and because of this we wanted to see more players like him which led to Tim Ward getting the sack and BC becoming Manager, what followed was ten years of unbelievable success and enjoyment. And then things started to go wrong off and on the pitch and I stopped being a season ticket holder during Peter Taylors time as manager, i still loved The Rams of course and when I turned 65 and retired my old mate from Melbourne and I bought season tickets again. But sadly covid left my best friend of 80 years with a dementia problem and he know no longer knows me. For the last two seasons I have been going alone to the match but its just not the same for me. Therefore I am calling it a day, as I write this I am welling up as I will do this afternoon. Thank you Derby County for every thing I will love you till I die.

I'm not on here every hour that God sends so I wouldn't know, but even so who's to say that he's not being sincere this time? And everyone can just ignore him. That is within the capability of all other members of the forum, surely?
I'm sorry, but I just don't think declaring people to have sad lives is in keeping with the modern spirit of 'being kind'.

I don't really know, but I would say that declaring someone to have a sad life is a bit harsh when you've (probably) never met them. It's difficult to ascertain the motivation of people from the odd post. You might be right, I don't know, but the simple thing to do is ignore it. If you're right he will get bored and stop.
I'm not on this forum often enough to know if he's winding people up or not - I have much more important things to do with my life than attend this thing every hour - but it strikes me that you can just ignore what you don't like.

Think of it as a point gained rather than 2 lost. Would have taken a draw before the match.

This is a standard Warne performance. Not sure why many are surprised or throwing their toys out the pram.
We play like this every week.
The only difference today is we have missed the two good chances and they have taken theirs.
    So instead of 0-2, it’s 1-0.
We’re not playing any worse than we did against Cheltenham, Stevenage, Charlton, Exeter or Bolton over the past month.

As games of football go that was an offence to the sport but it's at least good to be on the right end of it.
    Huge win.
