I felt sick reading that Mail article.
The sheer relief when I saw the date at the bottom….
Same exactly!

I thought Nixon had said EFL have met two bidders and the one who is out is Kirchner, not Ashley?
That’s how I read it.
Met two bidders - Kitchner (the one out) and Appleby (the one who hadn’t finalised funds). Binnie not met yet also specified. No mention of Ashley at all.

It's one thing to always support a single team but I think it's perfectly OK to watch your local team as well if you do not live anywhere near your club.
Indeed, I'm from Ilford and lived in Waterlooville and Luton before I chose my team in 1976
When I lived near Southampton (Bursledon) in the late 70's - mid 80's I was at Junior/Senior school and I watched a lot of games at The Dell.
When I moved to Bognor (17 - 22) and Worthing (23- 51) I spent some time watching Brighton at the Goldstone Ground.
Now I live in Derby so all good ?
I have never changed my allegiance or felt any desire to, unlike my brother who went from West Ham > Bolton and then Man City. To be fair to him, he did end up with City in his early teens so he has seen the League 1 days.
Yes same. I’m from Derby but family moved down South when I was a kid (where they still live). I had a season ticket at the local non league club for years in the 90s as a teenager with my friends. But I’d still have my Walkman tuned to the football scores hoping for an update from Pat Murphy at Baseball Ground or something…

Does anybody know if those Twitter spaces/council meetings thingys are still carrying on this week?
If so if posters are concerned about certain chants and wanting us to show a more positive message it might be worth talking about on there. They’ve been pretty well represented so it would probably be worth trying to get the message out in a constructive way?

Not that I would want this to happen, but I am pretty sure the League Two clubs would vote us in there. We would be a very big draw for them.
But isn’t that turkeys voting for Christmas i.e. an obviously bigger club likely to take one of their promotion slots before too long?

Cheers but prior to 1986?
Classic typo on my part. The Derby County Football Club 1896 not 1986! ?

I'd be surprised if the owning company hasn't already changed over the years.
Holding companies yes, but for what it’s worth, The Derby County Football Club Limited (inc 1986) is part of the structure still (and in Administration of course).

And yet AFC Wimbledon are seen and accepted as the same club as Wimbledon FC, FA Cup Winners, Crazy Gang et al.
The heritage stays with the fans, whatever wind-up merchants or the EFL say.
Here’s how they see and define it:

Might be a bit of a problem!??
The ground has been unused since August 2019, when Bury FC was expelled from the English Football League. In November 2020, the club was placed in administration and Gigg Lane was put up for sale in May 2021 by the administrator.
A fan group known as Est 1885 says it has signed an agreement to buy Bury FC, along with its intellectual property, trading name, history and assets.
A spokesperson for the group said it hoped the club would be reinserted into the footballing pyramid in time for the 2022/23 season.
Image this…….No wonder the Bury MP spoke with so much passion.
We can only hope for those fans, who know exactly where we are tonight.
I will definitely be closely following on the back of that MP today.

The thing is we can't give up. We have to keep fighting and making sure that our voices are heard.
Quite right. Look what we’ve all done in 48 hours of petitions, letters, emails and social!

Utter Bamfords.
Basically the EFL are saying we can stay in the league until the end of the season if we can raise enough cash from player sales.
They're not budging on Boro's "claim".
There's nothing about protecting football clubs. It's all just ballax.
We've no chance. They won't rest until we're gone. Custodians of football, my ar*e.
I'm broken.
Nope - get up tomorrow pal and keep making noise. It’s worth it!

Interesting - good momentum in last 24 hours!

The petition is gaining momentum, a great amount of signatures and some coverage in the news but wouldn't it be great if sports networks like Talksport brought this up. They barely talk about the championship- the obsession with the 'big 6' is too much when this is a proper big football story. They would probably rather talk about poor defending by Man U or whats going wrong at Spurs sort of things!
Not totally sure I agree with that; White and Jordan have covered our saga somewhat closely over the years (!). Mel’s been on, Erik Alonso, the admins, etc. Could be worth tweeting White.

Seems like a good thing to do would be to help the very good people of Bury somehow - they went though this and lost.
