Evening all,and apologies if this has already been suggested but i think we should bring back "those were the days" by Mary Hopkin.Remember singing along to this from the Normo end and the Popside. "WE ARE THE RAMS OH YES WE ARE THE RAMS da..da.da..da..da...da...But we just need some lyricist to come up with twist on the main non chorus stuff.

Those were the days, my friend
    We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
    We'd fight and never lose
For we are Derby and sure to have our way
La la la la la la
La la la la la la

  2. Still isolating in my bedroom awaiting my PCR result.

Window is wide open and I hear a toddler speaking away, whilst walking past, outside, with his mother telling him to hurry up. He says "What's black and blue?" .......his mother eventually begrudgingly mutters a "what?" and the toddler replies " a nana sahdwich" and I can only think who has beaten up his poor old grandma and stuck her between two slices of bread!..............his mother didn't laugh, but I did.

A future Rams fan I reckon, I wonder what he thinks about Swansea?

Why is it important that other people know about DCFC?

Because it makes you proud and it's nice to be nice and it's great when outsiders choose to be positive about our club.

There are a lot of wonderful people out there that don't believe all the gutter press and all the negative and nasty stuff written and spoken about our club.

  4. @Ellafellamight have already mentioned this.

The Men Who Made The Rams - Origins and Who's Who of Derby County Football Club by Peter Seddon. Page 23.

On 7th May 1985 the precise anniversary of the clubs foundation, it's first annual dinner in The Royal Hotel in Derby.

The club toast was 'to a long and successful future, hoping this proves to be our worst season and not our best.

During the evening the players gave their song 'One More River to Cross' admirably led by 'Jammer'

I don't know. Philip Neville was manager though of England women's team.

But I guess it's like political commentators.. plenty of Scottish ones commenting on the UK Parliament (Kuensberg for example)  ... are there any English ones commenting on the Scottish Parliament?

And an English man being the main commentator for Scotland games on Sky Sports who throws in little digs at every opportunity. I'm English and when I watch Scotland on Sky Sports, I'm embarrassed with his cringe.

Can you imagine a Scottish man being the main commentator for England games on ITV etc.

Plus we get to watch England on all the ITV channels up here, STV etc, but if you want to watch Scotland you have to pay the over priced, football killing company Sky Sports for the pleasure!

"Scotland are answering back, at least"......."Scotland score first for a change".........etc.

Remember kids, there are always 2 sides to every story!

  6. Surely we have to be giving it The Great Escape like England fans sing. It doesn't get any easier for everyone to join in.

(And I know it's not Our own song.....but let's sing it to help the players and Rooney will love it and so will we)

Der.Der.....Der....Der.....Der....Der.....Ddddd Der.......Derby etc and sing it for ages.

Come on @Owen87ITKget the Derby dj to play a version of this song that he's allowed to play and the South Stand will get it going and all the other stands will follow.

It's flags on poles that are not allowed in D Block. When they used to put out the little flags with the plastic poles, D block was always left out.

    OK.......

The club obviously doesn't trust D Block with a plastic pole........to stop ya shooting frozen peas and the like into the away end!

  8. Yep moving the Bournemouth game has knackered my already booked weekend away and means I will be in Luton Airport awaiting my flight home instead of watching the game at 3pm on a Saturday. I'm not prepared to throw more money at spending a Sunday night in Derby and as I have no more holidays to take off work, for the Monday it is not an option anyway.

So on Saturday I'll go watch Matlock Town or whoever I can see instead. Yeah thanks again Sky Sports!

Unfortunately the Aberdeenshire flag will not fit in my Cabin bag to meet latest restrictions, so it's not coming along for this trip. I will still wear my Aberdeenshire Rams T-Shirt if anyone still pops into Hide 11am, Silk Mill 12ish, The Tap 1ish, The Exeter 2 ish.

The trip hasn't got off to the best of starts, The Wedding Present gig at The Devils Arse Castleton Peak District on the Friday night has been rescheduled to 2022. So I'm off to see Space at The Hairy Dog instead, and I've had to book an additional hotel for that. Plus I'm off to see The Lathums in Nottingham straight after the match, so I suppose the flag is best staying in Aberdeenshire on this occasion.

The trip didn't start. Unfortunately I got pinged 2 hours before I was due to get on the megabus to Sheffield about been identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID. So today I've been for a PCR test instead, and I'm stuck in my bedroom isolating awaiting test results. It turned out the Space gig at The Hairy Dog tonight has been rescheduled to January 2022 also. I thought at least I have the November trip to look forward too, when we play Bournemouth, but they have only gone and moved that game to a Sunday, so that booked weekend away, is also falling apart already!

Obviously the Rams will win now tomorrow and I have spent all day rescheduling bus, flight, and hotels for this weekend to the last game of the season at home to Cardiff City on Sat 7th May with The Wedding Present playing Derby Venue on Fri 6th May 2022.

It really is not easy being a Derby County fan. And by the sounds of what @ossieramwas saying about flags not being allowed in D South Stand, if I'd brought the Aberdeenshire Rams flag along, I'd have been brassed off not getting it in.

I will be at the Swansea game Sat 2nd Oct 2021 with the Aberdeenshire Rams flag and probably in the Silk Mill pub lunch time onwards for pre match drinks before the game and in the Brunswick Inn for post match drinks with friends, if anyone would like to say hello, before enjoying many other pubs.

I will also be at the Bournemouth game Sat 20th Nov 2021 with the Aberdeenshire Rams flag and in the same pubs.

Not a red card. Not a corner that lead up to the penalty.

Sheff U. should have made the ref their man of the match.

Glad someone mentioned it wasn't a corner that lead up to the penalty, it was mentioned on Quest and looked an obvious goal kick. I thought @DavesaRam would have been all over that one.

Maybe @DavesaRam should start a separate thread for the officials, so each match can be captured within it, with all the things they got right and got wrong and potential lost points, so we can add them up at the end of the season, to see how many extra points we may have had. Most fans and commentators say these things even themselves out, but I agree with @DavesaRam that it always feels like us against the world.
