  1. Thanks Wanderer @BWFCNick. I will be fully supporting you in the play-offs. My grandfather was from Bolton so of course a Wanderers fan, hence I grew up as a dual supporter of DCFC and BWFC (I know, but it is possible). His older brother was at the Burnden Park tragedy back in 1946, and he took me to some of my earliest matches, the PNE promotion game in 92 (??), the FA Cup replay (RIP) at Liverpool in 93, the 5th Round tie that year at the BBG, plus the 95 League Cup final and that amazing play-off final against Reading… I also was there for the European games at Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Red Star Belgrade, and the incredible night when Bolton knocked Atletico Madrid out of Europe. I’m certainly a Derby County fan first and foremost these days, but Bolton are in my heart for sure. My grandfather would have hated this season, he’d have been the sole (low key) Bolton supporter in a family of Derby County fans. I hope we will meet in the Championship next season.

Enjoy the moment and have some faith

the guys just got us promoted with a record points total having still not had a window thats not been hampered by an embargo or strict business plan

Hopefully a few on here might have learnt a lesson in being patient and not having a meltdown at the first sign of trouble

    come on u mother f****** rams !!!!

They will be calling for him to be sacked if we lose our first two games of next season.

Nothing would be more derbyesque than a 40 page argument about how we should be allowed to celebrate before promptly losing to Cambridge and Carlisle. Why don’t we simply not worry about it and act accordingly when/if the time happens. And by accordingly I mean alcohol.

Indeed. Mods should lock this thread, discussion and promotion of illegal activity is not appropriate on this forum imo.

  4. As for the game… we couldn’t beat Cambridge at home, so I have zero confidence that we can beat them away.

Same with Carlisle… they’ve already won 3-1 away at both Bolton and Peterborough… I fully expect them to do the same at PP.

I’ve been known to be wrong, of course, but… … …

  5. It wasn’t a “chastening visit” to Wycombe, it was an improvement on last season when we lost, and a point closer to promotion.

Anyway, I came across the below on X today, said by a former Derby County legend who happened to be Bolton Wanderers manager at the time he said it. I completely subscribe to this philosophy, and I hope we can all embrace it for at least the last three games of this season. Too many of us seem to favour a “love the club, hate/slate the players and manger” kind of approach. That isn’t what we need. Let’s all be supporters as well as fans.

  6. Whatever anyone says, this is a tricky game. We couldn’t beat Wycombe at home, why should we expect to beat them away?? They are no mugs. We lost there last season, after all.

A win here would be a massive boost though. So, would I take a draw right now?? No. We can and maybe should win. But nothing is guaranteed. They would love to beat us, and may be on a high after Sunday. The uncertainty is why we turn up every week though, right??

  7. Regarding whether the league is weaker this year, that may be so of the best teams (us, Portsmouth and Bolton are probably not as good as Ipswich, Plymouth and Sheff Wed last season), but at the end of last season a lot of dross was relegated out of this league (Forest Green, Accrington, Morecambe), and they have been replaced by teams that are mostly comfortable in mid-table this year (Stevenage, Leyton Orient, Northampton), so the mid- and lower-rated teams I think are actually stronger this season than the season before.

    We scored from open play.

Ward carried the ball forward and crossed, the clearance went out wide to Sibs who crossed and the Blackpool clearance was lashed home by Adams.

Some folk are just so blinded by their hatred of Warne that they don’t even bother actually watching the games any more. They just pray for us lose so they can spew their toxic negativity yet again.

what a difference a week makes....

the results are going in our favour! Bolton have to win every game and i think this extra game is really going to count against them at this stage. If you count today, they have 7 games in 30 days and can't slip up, plus they have Portsmouth and Peterborough....

    Aldi champagne on ice.

Bolton only need two wins to overtake us if we lose the next five.

We need to channel the spirit of 85/86 and 96/97, when we didn't fall at the last hurdle in the final few games. The atmosphere at the home games helped get us through in the end. Maybe it can do it again.

It’s quite incredible when you think about it that we have only won automatic promotion once in 37 years.

  11. Today is the first day I started to believe promotion might be possible, so I have given myself a good slap and come up with many scenarios by which we can blow it. We can already see from todays results how good Cambridge and Carlisle are, for example, so we will surely lose our last two games. Not to mention very tricky games at Portsmouth and Wycombe. I have now successfully re-convinced myself that we have no chance.

I think we hadn’t scored in the previous 4 games but created loads of chances.  Me and my mates had arranged to go into town after the game so Mrs FBM dropped me off.  I remember saying to her on the way “someone’s in for a stuffing, and I hope it’s these”.  OK, there may have been the odd expletive in that sentence.

I seem to remember seeing a chap Jorrocks with a Rams shirt on a something like “Bryson 3-0” on it, age muddles the mind.  It’s fair to say, we stayed out longer than we planned and drank considerably more than we planned!!

Yes. I was back visiting from the US and attended just those four games… not a single goal to celebrate. I flew back to Chicago on the Thursday and two days later we were scoring 5 against Forest. Initially I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry… but of course why would I cry after such an awesome result?!?
