What are you talking about 😂
I said we don't need one man to score 25, then you've argued it by saying teams play with multiple number 10s... which is true, and they score goals so the striker doesn't have to. And Forest... their best striker scored 10, and their winger got 8. So again, point proven.
All I'm saying is if you can get a striker that scores 15 and makes those around him work and you end up with them getting 8-12 goals a piece then we are better off overall. It's not that crazy.

And even when he wasn't playing as a fullback/wingback, we really didn't play to his strengths that often.  His best performances for Derby have pretty much all been in a team that has a lot of possession and playing off a target man (Chris Martin and Kazim-Richards). Basically doing what Bryson did for McClaren's team.  You want him making runs off intelligent strikers in the final third, not chasing lost causes because you've lumped a big diagonal ball in his vague direction.  It's no surprise his best performances last season came when he was playing in behind McGoldrick and we were actually trying to pass the ball to each other.

Or maybe he watched us and thought "Y'know what, I can get a lot more out of those players than Paul Warne is getting..." 😉

Depends.  They probably don't want the situation where they offer him a new deal, and Bristol (and any other similar-sized clubs) decide £500k is too much and back out.  Then Brighton are stuck with a player that they don't want and who doesn't want to be there.

I dont think he's a DM, more of a tidy link up player who would be best slightly further up the pitch. However, in the recent past we did have a DM who was adored by the fans but his output was never questioned.
Thorne joined Derby aged 21 and scored 5 and assisted 6 in all competitions (73 apps). Thorne was playing in a side challenging for promotion every season and was surrounded with better players.
Bird turned 21 at the start of the 21/22 season and scored 4 goals and assisted 8 in all competitions since then (94 apps). Bird has only ever been in sides struggling towards the bottom of the table (until last season) with players not as good as those Thorne played with.
Bird had a career best of 8 goal contributions last season. Thorne's best was 7 in 15/16 with his next best being 4 in 13/14 (split between Watford and Derby).

The impression I've got is that we can't really spend much more than last season, but we've got more choice over how we spend it.  So we can choose whether to put money into wages or transfer fees, and whether we give one player a high wage or lots of players smaller ones.  I'm not really expecting us to spend much on transfers, other than reinvesting (some proportion of) anything we get from selling players.

...and the fans could have worded their posts on the subject better so as not top appear so bitter and needlessly angry. As it is, most people complaining that he's dared to answer a question put forward to him by a journalist look like they're holding a weird grudge and blaming him for his injuries, blaming him for his transfer fee, wages and contract length etc.
There's only one person to blame for that and he's long since left the club, so I guess people have to take their frustrations out on the players who were signed for inflated fees (Waghorn got some of this attitude toward him too) because heaven forbid there to be nobody to vent at.
As ever, people want to hear the truth, some openness, communication, but if they don't like what they hear and go into attack mode.
It's not like Bielik got injured doing activities away from the club - he received his injuries playing for us, on the pitch. That we've paid him a wage and paid for his recovery is should be irrelevant to people's judgement - it's in the contract he was given. There's no evidence that he's demanding his next club match it, that he's holding up the process of getting rid of him.
The last injury especially, aided by the both covid and our lack of money, could be seen to have been indirectly contributed to by the woeful state of our pitch during lockdown, nevertheless the games he did manage to play in during that period were absolutely vital in keeping us up that season (as much and more than Waghorn's last day heroics). The bloke owes us nothing.
If he was a player signed for £100k not £10m the reaction to his comments would be totally different.
Plus it's hardly as if the message coming from the club / manager is that we're desperate for him to stay.

I suspect it’s as simple as Forsyth can play the wider centre half positions in a back 3, where as Davies really can’t.  Plus he can still play as a fullback if needs be.  If we’re playing a back 3 then Forsyth is versatile cover for pretty much the whole backline, Davies is only really emergency cover for the central spot.
