Geriatram got a reaction from Crewton in World Cup Qatar
Reading this thread about scoring direct from a corner reminded me of the first time I saw a Rams match televised. It was a FA cup first round game against Bradford City in 1956, I remembered it particularly because Tommy Powell scored direct from a corner. So I found it on you tube, and it was just as I remembered it. One camera at pitch level, you had a job to see the ball never mind if it was over the line or not. But watching it this morning I found it gave me a lovely warm nostalgic feeling for a time as a 13 year old Rams fan.

Looked it up and here we are, I have forensically enhanced the video with a 78p magnifying glass I bought from ebay, The ball was outside the quadrant, I have now sent this to the EFLs "levelling up history department" who will no doubt penalise us with a 3 point deduction

Had an argument with a bloke in the pub earlier. He told me I don't know anything and that I couldn't even name 3 Qatar players.
I said, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Slash.

At least he's not giving his players an all over soap and water body massage like Revie used to do to his team after a game, check that out on you tube. Gross .

Old news Stive, Posted on the World Cup Football thread.
But...the more bad news this tournament gets the better imo, Qatar should never have been awarded this, With all their negative human rights records, Women as 2nd class citizens, Gay relationships outlawed and a plethora of other issues to boot.
FIFA and UEFA  need to be shown for what they are...complicit in Qatar's abhorrent behaviour, I look forward to a pi$$ poor World Cup ?

    Same here.
Normally I have a chart with all the games and possible dates for QF, SF etc on so I can plan work/life round the footie. Not bothered this time, I'll watch England if I'm not doing anything but won't change any plans or book time off work for it.

It’s actually a penalty. You don’t see them given but it’s a foul in the box so a penalty

I’m not saying he should be sub or otherwise. I’m merely saying that he looked like a player coming on at 4-1 up, following a class act who had scored a hat-trick.
It struck me (and god forsake I should have an opinion) that he looked like he was thinking what’s the point? McGoldrick and Collins are certain starters now.
He may well have thought nothing of the sort of course, but he jogged about like someone who had played ninety minutes not just a few.

Not only are they at the bottom of the league, with some fans calling for Nigel Pearson to replace Brendon Rogers. They are now set to announce £119.5 million losses, the highest in the premier league.

Horror mistake from their defender but it doesn’t happen without the lump forward and Collins chasing down, neither of which would have happened under Rosenier…

There's basically a bit of mardyness from some fans of Liam which is souring their views on the new gaffer.
Plus a few people just aren't comfortable with such a gregarious chap.
It will pass in time if we start achieving as a team especially in terms of scoring more goals and winning away from home for the first time in months.

Wow.....give the bloke a chance.....He gave honest answers and he was only responding to questions asked...I didn't want Liam removed either but he was and I trust Mr Clowes...the man that saved our club...you obviously don't like Warne thats your choice of course but bullying????   thats ridiculous....think its you who needs to calm down

Genuine question to people who are criticising Paul Warne for his style of play, how many of Rotherham's league one fixtures did you watch? And how many Championship ones not involving Derby? I feel like it's become a bit of an easy one to throw out there without justifying yourself why you don't like his style of football.

    Lots of questions there.
If you'd asked me this before recruitment and pre-season I would say better than expected, but the signings, along with the encouraging pre-season performances got me a bit more excited than I ought to be! So my head is very happy, my heart less so, as I feel we could have done better with what we have.
Part of the reason is I don't think Liam has found his best eleven yet, or even if such a thing exists. But he will find the starting sides and substitutions that give him the best chance of winning games at this level. That doesn't necessarily mean playing our eleven most gifted players - we need players who graft and have heart in there, too.
No major changes, maybe set up a bit differently away from home. If Chester carries on like his debut yesterday that will help, keeps Knight in midfield too.
I think we'll score our first away goal at Cambridge and go on a bit of a run from there.
I predicted top six, just, before we started. Now think we might do slightly better than that, especially if some of the luck with decisions and injuries starts going our way (for a change!)

I can’t even bother with an angry emoji. That rates as the worst post of the day.
A new striker, in a drought at a new club and he bags his opener. You write that ?

For the record .. it was a beautifully weighted ball from McGoldrick. He was 1 V 1 against an advancing goalie with a split second to make his decision. It was a sweet clean shot reversed against the goalies movement slotted neatly in the back of the net. No panic, no fluff, no snatched blast. Good finish end of story.
