No. PW only wants players who will improve the team. Then there's the added complication of the "business plan". I get the impression many are thinking "roll on the summer then we can go out and spend". Problem is that isn't going to happen. Why not? David Clowes has told us that the club will be self sufficient and the financial situation will be sustainable. To me, that means we will spend no more than we have generated in income.
We lost £6.8M in the first 9 months following the exit from administration. Gates are around 690 a game down on average so I'm not expecting the accounts for this season to be suddenly showing a profit. That means, for next season, as with this season, we will have ticket receipts, sponsorship and advertising revenue and that's it. If we're still in L1 then we'll have a similar amount to this season to spend. If we go up I'd expect us to have slightly more. That means we will still be limited on transfer and loan fees and on wages. That will put "proven" players like Clarke-Harris out of our budgetary range. It is unlikely we will see 7 figure buys. What will we see, then? More of the same? Some of it, yes, Apparently PW is now wanting to look abroad which is a good idea.
I'd also be more than happy for PW to start showing some faith in the likes of Fapetu, Robinson, Weston etc. One would hope he gets some pressure to do so as Clowes was determined to retain the Academy's status and ignoring their better prospects goes against what DC appears to want... and he holds the purse strings. Next season, the kids will all be a year older, wiser, bigger and stronger. I say, give them a chance.

Agreed. I think we should pair either Fornah or Tommo with Bird at DM and play CH in the #10 role to which he's better suited. As I've said many times, I'd be even happier if Sibs was given a run there to see if he can push on.

Rosenior signed the players he signed intending to play them in certain roles. NML had been used as a wing back at Wendy. He refused to sign a new contract as they still wanted him as a WB and he didn't want to play there. Why did he sign for Rosenior? My guess is that LR told him he wanted to play him as a winger. Then we had the managerial change and PW started to play him as a WB. Fortunately, he now sees him as the attacking player he is and plays him, mainly, in attacking roles.
Had PW been in charge in the summer of 2022, I think he would probably have told NML he'd be used as a WB and he wouldn't have signed for Derby. Just my opinion.

Lots of players out injured. Collo is our only fit, available striker. The other fit one, Dajaune Brown, has been loaned out to Gateshead. Sibs back to LB against Cheltenham and doing a good job of it too. If PW isn't going to give the lad a run at #10, and he's not, then make him first choice left back and give him a run of games to convert him into a proper LB. At his age he could hold that role down and give us years of good service and give him a career that could see him sorted, financially, for life. As it is, never knowing if he's going to be LB, LWB, DM, LW, RW, #10 or on the bench for 4 years has knackered his development, IMO.

Last 6 games. We've won 3, as have they. Drawn 1, as have they. Lost 2, as have they. Both have a GD of +2, we've scored 11 and conceded 9, it's 7 and 5 for them. Anyone thinking this will be a walk in the park is in for a shock, IMO.

MadAmster got a reaction from DavesaRam in Does Warne deserve the vitriol aimed at him?
Derby has always had scapegoats when things go pear shaped. Currently it's Warne and Bird getting the stick with Hourihane a close 3rd. Collins has been let of the hook somewhat and Sibs appears to be taking his place in the firing line. While some of the comments are valid on a single game level, they why is never looked at. A player will have an off day yet when he does, he's suddenly bloody useless. I have ones I'm not fond of. Ward and Wilson are, IMO, good wingbacks. Unfortunately for them, they have been regularly played at full back. Doesn't suddenly mean they have become useless overnight, just that they have been used in the "wrong" way and that is not the player's fault. That brings me back to Sibs... Only long spell he's had in any one role was at left back last season and he did well. What would happen if he got a run at #10? We'll never know.

Why does he think it should be all about getting round the back and giving crosses. Down the middle is a decent tactic that seems completely overlooked and the oppo knows what we are going to do. Shouldn't he be varying tactics in the game to prevent the oppo being able to set up to stop crosses and, effectively, neutering whoever we have up top?

A few weeks back when we were however may games unbeaten, we weren't suddenly Barcelona and now, after just 7 points from 5 games we have still only lost 2 of 14 so we aren't going to do a Forest Green either.
Why do Derby fans seem incapable of a sense of relativity? Unable to put context into a situation. A loss sees so many in a dark and dismal place, a win has them creaming themselves. Extremes, it would seem, as with just about everything in modern day life.

When, apart from his prolonged stint at left back, has Sibley had a long run in a single position? I agree with everybody who says he hasn't developed as we thought. however, we should also look at why and, IMO, Sibs isn't the problem. For him to push on I believe he needs to move and get a club with a manager who will play him in just the one role over a run of games.
