MadAmster got a reaction from Rich3478 in Dajaune Brown
PW has already said, it's in Daj's hands. he produces the goods pre season, he's in. If they think he's not quite ready, he'll go out on loan as part of his development.

MadAmster got a reaction from Jackal in How much do you think we have to spend on actual transfer fees?
It's a mystery to me as to why clubs pay a player's agent. The agent works for the player. Surely, the player should pay the agent... unless the agent has been asked by the club to bring player X into the club...

MadAmster got a reaction from jimtastic56 in Retained List
According to EFL rule...
“Any club wishing to re-engage a contract player whose contract is due to expire on 30 June must notify him in writing by the third Saturday in May in the final year of his contract whether or not they offer him terms of re-engagement specifying (where applicable) such terms."
That's tomorrow. By then the players will have it in black and white if they're going or can stay if they reach agreement on a new contract.
Thus far only 4 of the 23/24 season SBC sides have published their lists. 18 of the 23/24 L1 sides have published.

MadAmster got a reaction from Crewton in Captain next season
The role of the captain.
1. He is the buffer between the players and the staff. Especially junior players will approach the skipper for advice, both professional and personal.
2. He is the gaffer's "man" on the pitch. Geeing up players who need it, arm round the shoulder or a kick in the arse when necessary. Should be telling players who aren't in the right place or doing the right things where they are going wrong.

MadAmster reacted to Ghost of Clough in Summer transfer suggestion thread
In resposne to this and an identicla post by @Shuff264... It's something I would certainly consider, with Nyambe being the main RCB option, but I don't think Warne will. We only played Rooney at RCB when we also had Mendez-Laing at RWB - it was essentially a back 4.
Reasonable assessments, but I would still argue they are some of the more likely options if we were signing any free agents from the Netherlands. I don't consider potenitally being in a relegation spot an indicator of a bad player. In the past, we've signed a few players relegated from the Championship when we were competing in and around the Playoffs.
I wouldn't expect any CB sigining to be a regular starter. Someone like Adewoye could be a starter against the less physical sides (such as Swansea), whilst usign Bradley against the more direct sides (such as Millwall)
I would certainly expect a better signing that Lamprou on the wings. Unfortunately, I couldn't identify many better wingers who would be likely to join us on a free. This'll most likely be a position we pay a fee for or find someone on loan.

MadAmster got a reaction from Beetle in How much do you think we have to spend on actual transfer fees?
£10M loss last season. I suspect we'll have made another loss this season, albeit a smaller one than last season. Will we actually have that "£3M" increased revenue to spend on transfer fees? I don't think we will.

I hope he has already decided on a style of play and is now looking to recruit players for the specific roles in that style/system/formation.

MadAmster got a reaction from Ghost of Clough in Summer transfer suggestion thread
My take on the Dutch players mentioned by Ghost of Clough...
Matty Ryan would be a good shout as keeper, however, although he's "out of contract", AZ have qualified for Europe again and I reckon they'll make the lad an offer
Syb van Ottele has been a regular for Heerenveen this season. Reasonable defender but less capable than Nels/Cash and comfortable on the ball, possibly not physical enough for the SBC. 22 years old and 6'1"
Shawn Adewoye has been a regular for RKC Waalwijk this season but not physical enough for the SBC. Results this coming weekend could see RKC in the relegation playoffs. 23 years old and 5'11".
Deroy Duarte has been a regular for Fortuna Sittard this season but, imo, isn't good enough for the SBC despite being a Cape Verde international. Results this coming weekend could see RKC in the relegation playoffs. 24 years old and 5'10".
Lazaros Lamprou has been a regular for Excelsior this season but, imo, isn't good enough for the SBC despite 8 goals and 5 assists this season. He'd be up against better defenders most weeks. Results this coming weekend could see Excelsior in the relegation playoffs. 26 years old and 6'0".

MadAmster got a reaction from Caerphilly Ram in How much do you think we have to spend on actual transfer fees?
My understanding is that we paid Charlton a £300K loan fee for him up to the end of the season and he signed a permanent deal keeping him here until the end of the 26/27 season.

... these, and many other mistakes, are totally unforgivable. I'm 100% certain you all no/now/know the difference but are just plain lazy buggers.

MadAmster got a reaction from FlyBritishMidland in Retained List
Why haven't we published the list yet?
1. PW said a few months back that no new contracts would be offered until after the season.
2. Following the last game the lads had a couple of days on the razz and then went to Vegas for more razzing. Now they are back PW can inform, face to face, those who are to be let go and start negotiations with the agents of players he wants to keep.
Is it really any surprise we haven't published the list yet?

MadAmster got a reaction from We'll be back in 81 in Retained List
Having thought about it and having disengaged my "softie" side, here's my take on those currently out of contract. There will be disagreements but in the hardball world of Association Football there is no room for sentiment. Not if you want success...
The players concerned are:
Bird (already gone)
Sibley who I'd keep
Wildsmith who I'd keep
JJ back on pay as you play or not at all. Probably the latter.
Barks Thanks for everything but it's time to go
Adams hopefully reach a deal with Cardiff but not at any price
Tommo keep
Gayle looked class in L1 but had a huge failure at Stoke prior to coming to us. Too old? I think so
Hourihane Full time coach at Villa or an extra season here? I'd let him unless the option rumours are true
Collo Hard working goalscoring L1 CF 16/17 22 in L2, 17/18 20 in L2, 18/19 25 in L1, 19/20 and 20/21 14 and 13 in the SBC, 21/22 3 in the SBC from 30 appearances. 22/23 12 in L1, 23/24 199 in L1. Is L1 his level? I think he is. Thanks and good luck.
Smith been a good servant but PW wants more 20 somethings (applies to Collo as well)
Fozzy LWB/LB/CH competent in all 3 but his age is against him. 3 ACLs plus the time it took him to get over his injury this season and then broke down again on his return. You're a rock but it's time to go
Waggy Ta lad. This really is the end of the line
Robinson talks under way and I'd definitely keep him as he has a bright future
Loach does some coaching as well. Apparently on less than a grand a week. If still capable if/when needed then as 3rd keeper, I'd be happy enough.
So..
Keep Sibs, JW, Tommo, Robinson
Also keep JJ and Loach but only if the circumstances are correct (pay as you play JJ and still capable if needed Loach). IMO more chance of the latter happening than the former
Buy Adams but not at any price
The rest can go unless there are any option triggers the players can pull.

Whatever the 3 new shirts look like, it will have been agreed best part of a year ago.
