UEFA Euro 2024 Thread

England have a free kick from the right, there are five England players in the box and they’re all standing in a line so that when the defender heads it away, there’s no pressure on the ball at all. They’re being coached to play like this and it’s crap…

Sven would have also taken us that far had we not played a proper team like Brazil or Portugal at the 1/4 stage.

Southgate is arguably the luckiest manager in England history given what we faced en route to the 1/2 and final in 18 and 20.

That's lucky then, as most tournaments are won by the luckiest team.

England have been incredible in this group stage vs Portugal when they won it.

Win this group and we have another easy path to the final.

In World Cup 2002 we drew with Sweden and Nigeria in the group stage.

In Euro 2004 we lost 2-1 to France despite being 1-0 up in the 90th minute. Then drew with Portugal.

In World Cup 2006, we drew with Sweden, beat a cricket team 2-0, and had single goal victories against Paraguay and Ecuador before another draw with Portugal.

Why do you not apply the same criticism to Erikkson that you do to Southgate (as soon as we meet anyone decent we lose)?

There's absolutely no defending Southgate this tournament. None. And I say that as someone who previously backed him.

No left-footed left back other than an injured Shaw.

No pressing.

Absolutely embarrassing comments about not having a Phillips replacement and the players being too tired.

Bringing Gordon on in the 89th minute, half an hour later than he should have.

Get him gone the minute we go home.

Slow boring garbage yet again. I'm not surprised the England fans booed that tripe, from a B rate manager.

Let's face it though, this whole tournament has been rubbish so far. This is what happens when 3 teams out of 4 can go through. The final matches have mainly been terrible because of the lack of jeopardy involved.

Portugal won it by getting a ridiculously easy path to the final and then to their credit, scrapping a win against France.

England may well do the same.

But it would require us beating a top 8 team at some point - something we haven’t done in decades.

I do.

England haven’t beaten a top 8 team on foreign soil in my lifetime.

Every time (in my lifetime) we have played a Belgium, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Portugal or France in knockout competition on foreign soil we have lost.
