Rams v Chorley, FA Cup 2021. Where are they now?

You could field a pretty strong team of "top Derby youngsters who moved to a top-tier club and basically disappeared" - not just Williams and Festy but Gordon, Delap, Ebiowei, Plange. Even Bogle was a bench player for a long time in the Premier League.

It's completely understandable how clubs (and players) move so early now, but a shame nonetheless.

He has more money in his bank account but less opportunity to be a real footballer currently

Once heard Pat Nevin say that if you wanted to play for Chelsea the worst place in the world to be was in Chelsea's academy but if you wanted to be a professional footballer with a decent career then the best place in the world is to be in Chelsea's academy

Always thought Isaac Hutchinson looked a real prospect. Not sure how he is doing at Walsall.

Williams looked class, and wasn’t surprised we got picked off by Chelsea. Still think he will have a good career.

Cheers

The only one we didn't need to sell but Wayne convinced him it was a chance he couldn't turn down.  Many thanks.

Makes you wonder how much convincing he needed. To be fair to Wayne, without being a party to the conversation I would imagine he told him it was a great opportunity. Something you’d expect all honest and decent managers of lower league clubs to say.

I somehow doubt him and his family were begging Wayne to let him stay at Derby.

Wasn’t it the case that he was out of contract in the summer and we couldn't offer him a new contract because of EFL restrictions, so selling him in January was the only way we'd have got any real value for him?

Just remember Rooney saying he'd advised him to take the oppurtunity and it was his decision on that move,

I do. Of course, it's always the player's decision these days, and we couldn't offer them any guarantees about their futures, but it sounds like both Williams and Kellyman were "encouraged" to take the opportunity and, undoubtedly, the fees received for both helped to pay the wages, so perhaps Quantuma asked Rooney to assist in helping them make that decision?
