Richards performance this half has made me think how poor Waghorn has actually been and what he actually brings attacking wise. Or even what his position is? When you look at Waghorn he has all the attributes to be a ‘target man’ but he doesn’t have the desire or heart to put himself about and be physical. He is poor at playing with his back to goal. Maybe it’s just not in his nature, but he is also a fair old unit but a big softy with it.
But if he can’t play that role is he a ‘second striker’, a winger or what? Be interesting if we stick with this kind of play with a target man, what role Waghorn will have? Whenever I’ve seen him do this role he has been very poor and easily out muscled. Interesting times ahead.

It will be interesting to see how we approach the second half.  One of the criticisms of Cocu's teams were that they tended to sit on a 1-0 and play negatively in the second half, trying to hang on rather than playing in the style that put 1-0 up in the first place.

Rooney having played under Alex Ferguson for so long will certainly have been exposed to a different approach.  Let's see if he has learned from his playing career.  We'll never get a better opportunity to press home our advantage, playing at home to arguably the weakest team in the league.

Wycombe with a free header  5 yards out that brings an offside flag; but still slightly worried by the lack of reaction from the defenders who weren't sure he was offside.

Wycombe counterattack from an offtarget Sibley pass. Poor cross gives it to Derby.

Derby counter; ball out to Lawrence in space. His cross is cleared.

@Monty deserves some credit for championing Duane Holmes. He’s been very good so far.

Certainly the type of player who blossoms in McClaren's system
