Test Cricket is Back

Brooke doing what Brooke does to try to drag England back into the game, surviving early chances before stepping on the gas. Ali has looked untroubled holding down the other end, but now pulls up with what appears to be a groin strain. He's going to try to bat on, but he doesn't look right to me at all 😞

EDIT: Ali can't run so has decided to start launching balls out of the ground.

England just chucking wickets away because they love to play BAZBALL, not exactly the best way to play test cricket. You can guarantee Australia won't chuck there wickets away and will get a lot more than 283. And will go on to get a 3-1 win in the Ashes series.

Bet ya England have a first innings lead.

Bizarre first day to a test match.

Both sides incredibly sloppy, with dropped catches and poor shot selection (even allowing for Bazball)

Losing Moeen is a blow on a pitch which shows signs of spin. Hoping Root can pick up one or two. Was also hoping Anderson would find his mojo, but it looks more likely he’ll be finding his cocoa.

So it’s pretty much down to Broad, Wood and Woakes to bowl Australia out.

Note - autocorrect turned Root into Riot and Broad into B-road!

No panic yet but our bowlers looked pretty tired steaming in last night. Aussies got way more out of the pitch and more swing with the ball, creating 16 chances in just over two sessions. Jimmy and Broad were seen off without threat again with the new ball, the danger coming from Wood and Woakes.

Hopefully we can get into them early and try and get ourselves back into the game. Not sure it's doing much for test cricket if we lose the series 3-1, probably more of a justification of playing the way Australia are currently.

There's still plenty of time to turn this around.

Okay so number ten’s in.

The ball’s swinging and seaming a bit.

What’s our plan?

Let’s bowl short and hope he holes out at long leg.

But that’s the shortest boundary in test cricket. Top edges will go for six.

Absolutely. Keep going.
