Imagine being Max Bird, playing in that game at this stage, then being casually name checked in England's highest ever goalscorers post match analysis as a plus point.

10ft tall won't cover it!

I thought Max did reasonably well considering how much the two Stoke midfielders targeted him at times.

Hard not to see him involved in the starting XI next season if he keeps progressing this way!

4 proper football goals. And all good 'uns too.  clean sheet.  No flukes.  No stupid mistakes.  Solid team performance.  A Roooooooooney special.  A Bogle even more special!  No rain.  No biting wind.  No freezing temps.

Quite a decent evening, all told!

Last season Max Bird just started to fade away a little after breaking through (After a very tough time off the field).  this season Cocu has brought him right back, been outstanding and really growing into every game! Great too see

There is an understanding developing between Rooney and Bird which is fascinating to see. Rooney mentioned him in his interview after the game too.

That has to be such an advantage for his development.

Spot on. Max Bird does what Ince and Lawrence don't do consistently - and that's show for the ball / pass and then move into space for the return or the next but one return pass. It makes it much easier as Bird always gives Rooney an out ball if he gets closed down. Another great performance from the young lad tonight - he needs to keep starting for us.

Watching Bird play alongside Rooney is amazing to see.

As a Dad myself, I can’t help but think how Birds Dad would be feeling right now in his son forming a partnership and a good one at that with one of the top players in the world.

Hopefully he is watching him from above.

yes - I'm also sure that his Mum is very proud of him.

Excellent performance tonight. Please, please, please Cocu play exactly the same team on Tuesday night. Build some momentum, let the team develop partnerships, 8 changes is unnecessary.

Absolutely this.

That was clinical, condident and professional.

Forsyth won his battle against Ince and Clarke was excellent against Vokes, who can be handy. The amount he won aerials and made clearances must be sky high. Rooney, Bird and especially Holmes...They made it look so, so easy. Platform to our win today.

Rest of them played well too. Was suprised how easily Stoke broke down after looking like very solid unit the first 20-30 minutes. Helped to have Clucas running around like headless chicken and being too scared to tackle.

Fantastic. Our first really good performance of the season.

lots of positives. Wisdom superb, bird like huddz on fast forward, Martin and Rooney linking things up,

oh.....and some great goals.

Biggest difference tonight is we did the basics right. Committed players forward when we needed to and defended in numbers when required too.

It seemed like we had a little bit of confidence back in our play so the final ball worked for a change. Amazing what a little confidence does....
