As frustrating as Nugent is, what are the alternatives?

Marriott half fit

Joz - no thanks

Bennett and Lawrence - neither is great

King cup tied

So until Mount and/or Marriott are back fit, I think this is reality!

Would rather see Zoon, Bennett or Lawrence start to be honest.

Me posting this all but guarantees a Nugent hat trick

I know this might sound radical but we could actually play a 442 with that team - unlikely I know but it is the cup!

                    Roos

bogle Keogh tomori malone

holmes Huddlestone Bryson wilson

       Nugent.   Waghorn

yes I know Huddlestone is slow but quality, but the other three are no slouches

Assuming both Lawrence and Bennett are unavailable, you have a couple of options

Waghorn Nugent Holmes

Or

Holmes Waghorn Jozefzoon

You’re flipping a coin between Nugent and Jozefzoon, both of which haven’t been on form recently.

We’ve had injuries, what can you do?

Lampard said Marriott will be lacking match fitness, expect we’ll see him play some part today, maybe 20 minutes at the end. Lawrence came back from injury at Ipswich, struggled after scoring and got kicked a bit after, guessing he’s nursing a few knocks.

Surprised if Bennett has just been left out.

Holmes is far more suited to the middle than Wilson. Don’t understand people who say they should play the other way round.

Don’t think it matters too much which starts out wide, can switch throughout the game and give defence something else to think about. In fact you’d hope that’s part of the game plan....well I would anyhow.

Apparently the main conference theme was gripping.

I'd only go if there was a chance of getting Laid.

It'd carry a bit of a risk but it could even be a diamond:

                  Roos

Bogle Keogh Tomori Malone

                 Hudds

         Holmes   Bryson

                  Wilson

          Waghorn  Nugent

I've always thought Diamond a difficult one to make work but on paper the personnel do look like they'd slot in nicely. Bogle and Malone both have the energy to cover ground down the wings. Bryson and Holmes have the legs in the middle. It's a mobile front three that are comfortable playing in wide areas if need be and puts Wilson where he's most dangerous. And Huddlestone should be comfortable dropping between the centre backs to form a back three if necessary.
