Here's the thing 8M is probably about a 'fair' value for him right now given that he didn't have a great season last year (even though there were mitigating circumstances) and was injured the year before. However we know that if he had a season playing like he did in 14/15 or 13/14 he'd be worth around 1.5x to 2x that figure. I think what is getting people wound up is it a really bad time to sell him combined with the fact we have got so much dross in the squad that selling off a prized asset is a little sickening. This could be a defining moment in his career at Derby. I think he's right to sell (albeit far too cheaply) but the atmosphere may get poisonous as a result.
