Not sure he'd get on the bench anymore

Think your right , barring injuries I don’t see Martin making the bench very often

We seem to be getting fixated with whether he is leaving or staying does it hreally matter.

In GR's striker pecking order he must be 4th or 3/4th with Winnel So chance of playing barring injury's is getting smaller and smaller.

The ball's in his court is he staying not playing on the bench or stands or does he want to play somewhere else.

Why at any cost?

He has 2 and a half years of his contract left and other than the desire to play first team football surely his motivation to move will only come of he finds a suitable club/deal that suits him and his family...not Derby county.

And whilst the number of McLaren era colleagues is being whittled down by rowett,I wouldn't have thought that it will be his primary motivation to leave.

Hopefully though,a deal will be sorted by wednesday and he can move on.

Need his money to complete Rowett's plans ??      That is why it matters. And time is running out,

Employer tells employee to find another job as they want to use his salary costs to pay another person - OK if it's not you its happening to.

Rob Hulse was quite effective at stalling on attempts to get rid , perhaps Martin will be the same.

Johnny’s off and the clique is all but disintegrated. Surely Martin wants out at any cost?

The "clique" disintegrating at worst means Martin has lost status within the group, but he may well be of the mentality that if Derby do get promoted and he thinks he's good enough - it's just a matter of effort for him to fight his way back into Rowett's first team plans. The chance of PL football might outweigh wanting to be playing regularly.

Whether anyone agrees or not, that could be where his head is at.

It is an interesting one, in that Rowett’s quotes are about wanting him to get game time over anything about needing him off the wage bill etc...

Wasn’t the clique invented when people tried to justify Pearson’s clear-out?
