I've just renewed and irrespective of whoever is the manager, whatever the style of play, the results and the division, I'll renew every season because I support Derby County no matter what.

That's fair enough. I support Derby too (ST holder and 15+ away member), but for someone like me who has a 230 mile round trip every home game £537 to watch a style of football that I can't stand its just not worth it. I'll always follow the club, but unless we're in the Championship next season or Warne is gone in the summer I'm not renewing.

Nah,mostly those who still haven't let him go,why would the rest of us be interested?

If we want to lament a manager who actually was both our manager and a bloody good one, let's talk about Stevie Mac,not someone who had a very poor record here both as an assistant and as temporary gaffer.

Is this the same manager who currently has his Hull team in the top 6 of arguably the most competitive league in Europe? Yeah, s*** manager, give me Warne any day.

The only way it’s gonna change now is if those who feel so strongly opposed to Warne stage some sort of protest, but they won’t, so there has to be an element of accepting that he’s the manager.

By all means we can discuss his performance but for anyone thinking he’s going anywhere in the short term I suspect you’ll be disappointed.

It would be pointless to get shot of him now even if the owner was thinking of going down that road, which he isn't. The problem is if we are still in League One and Warne is still in charge at the end of the season I can see the club hemorrhaging ST holders and the attendances collapsing. Personally I'm not going to renew for £537 to watch more of this next season.

  4. Personally I like Ed’s passion and Eric’s analysis. I’d rather have a Rams supporter commentating than some bog standard BBC employee and in Eric you get someone with an unrivalled knowledge of the game and our club.
It seems to me that some on here just want uncritical, DCFC-can-do-no-wrong coverage on RD rather than actual opinion. If that’s what you want get a Rams TV pass and you can have that every game.

If we go up it's a non-issue. If it's another season of Warneball in L1 I'm going to have to have a good hard think about it to be honest.

Think this is where I'm at too.

I've just listened to the Adams interview, his personality is infectious and he's a proper warrior in midfield.

If Cardiff have floated a figure over a permanent move just pay it. Don't muck about arguing over a few quid. Just pay 'em.

Absolutely loved his interview. Sounded to me like he’d make a great captain in the future if we can get him in permanently.

I wonder if one of these days we might try and actually out football one of these crap outfits who turn up to play like this, or whether we will continue to willingly play them at exactly the game they want us to.

When you play win at all costs football and don’t win then you should absolutely expect criticism.

The thing is, PW knew how Shrewsbury would play, he talked about it pre match and yet he still got the tactics wrong. The lack of nous is soul destroying at times, it really is. We barely won any second balls, kept playing head tennis and the number of risky passes at the back was terrifying. We were playing a team in the bottom six who have been beaten by every one of our promotion rivals this season and yet they have taken 4 points out of 6 off us. Why does this stuff keep happening?

Maybe some of the new members can't remember the tough times and feel we have a god given right to be perfect every game. League 1 is tough because the teams get in your face. Everyone ups there game for Derby because they also see us as a big club. We currently are not a big club.

Awaiting incoming from Nigel aged 9

Were you there last night? I was and I can tell you that Reading did not ‘get in our faces’. We had the freedom of the pitch for most of the first half but we played like we were trying to throw the game. Last nights result was nothing to do with how Reading played; they were garbage until they got the goal. At half time my friend and I were laughing about how poor we had been but thought that Warne would see that and change things. Imagine our surprise when he sent the same 11 back out with no change in tactics. The mark of a decent coach is that they can identify the issues and changes things accordingly; that we didn’t speaks volumes about Warne and his abilities.

Man- the irony is so thick , what with so many folk saying pretty much our only player of note tonight (and MoTM) was Elder. Oh, how two games changes so much 🤪

But whilst most everyone else was crap i have to say that this game was the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of my view on Max Bird. I love that he’s come up thru the ranks and is sorta one of our own. I think that's why so many people have given him so much latitude in terms of his performances…

But as of tonight I’ve had enough of his disappearing act in games. Yes, he can be good on his day and in spells, but he is too inconsistent and anonymous in too many games, to the point of effectively being a passenger. I look at the midfielders in some of the other top 6/7 sides and I realize that to move on we need to sell him and reinvest in new midfield blood.

Or maybe get a manager/coach in that understands that a functioning balanced midfield is an alternative to endlessly lumping the ball out wide and into the box in the hope that someone will get on the end of it. Bird isn’t a bad player but is being made to look so by a coach who has no interest in playing football in any way other than his own prehistoric way.

  10. I thought we were played off the park today by the best team I’ve seen at PP this season. They were sharper, brighter and pulled us all over the place. We looked like the away team for large chunks of the match so no complaints from me, other than we should have stopped sitting deep and inviting them on to us in that last 10 minutes; we might have got a point otherwise.
Need to go and smash Fleetwood now and get back on track.

  11. Well that performance last night was an absolute tonic to me after a dreadful Christmas (my dad is terminally ill and has been in hospital throughout Xmas). I wasn't going to go , even though the Kassam Stadium is less than 2 miles away from where I live but my family persuaded me to so I went and apart from that first 15 minutes I had the best away day I've had for years. That second half performance was brilliant; relentless attacking pressure that blew Oxford away. The Rams fans last night were also amazing; you wouldn't have known we were the team 2-0 down. I couldn't speak at the final whistle from all the singing!

Its nights like that that make following this club so special. After what has been a rough few weeks personally I really needed that experience last night.

I was Warne out, and am still not convinced by the quality of football I’m having to watch.
But I can’t grumble with the results (besides letting the lead slip in the 96th minute) and being within touching distance of the top two.
If he’s saying that’s the closest we’ve got to performing how he really wants us to then it’s a positive sign that the previous dross wasn’t his football at all.
Hoping for at least 4 points from the next 2.

This is more or less where I am with things. I think his realisation that 3 at the back wasn’t working and reverting to a back 4 has been key in results improving and long may it continue. Looking forward to the Oxford game - I live 8 minutes away by car from the ground!

Eh? Did you see the goals on Saturday? Penalty from being fouled from a cross and two long balls from the keeper headed on

Hardly slide rule, eye of the needle stuff

But much more football played through midfield compared to previous games. I actually enjoyed a home game for the first time this season.

I think what is happening is exactly what some sensible forum members have been saying for weeks- injury crisis over and we’ve started to get some luck and take chances and now, shock horror, we’re winning games

I don’t doubt we’ll go on another bad run at some point this season which is why Warne says he never gets too up or down after a win/defeat

Nothing to do with luck or the injury crisis, more the style of football has changed from tedious hoofball to actually playing some of it through midfield and on the ground because our manager finally understands that his style alone was getting us nowhere. Credit to him for adapting though; I enjoyed the match on Saturday - that’s the first time I’ve been able to say that since Blackpool. Long may it continue.

Breaking news, owner speaks to manager in prearranged meeting.Oh My God Wow GIF by The Roku Channel

Well in that ‘pre-arranged meeting’ Mr Clowes must have said, ‘FFS Paul, how about playing some exciting football that our fans can actually enjoy before you end up emptying the stands’, because the football on Tuesday was a transformation from the rubbish I watched at Stevenage. Long may it continue.

Loving all the comments about how bad Northampton were, but you can only beat what's infront of you.

Maybe Northampton were that bad because we were that good!

How many other teams have hammered them the way we did last night?

They were 4th bottom in League One before the game last night so it’s fair to assume they are not world beaters. That said I loved our performance.

Agreed, but on top of that, you want to see signs that we're building something.  If we'd given decent minutes to the likes of Thompson, Robinson, Brown, Rooney even, and signed a few more players like Fornah and Wilson, you'd be willing to tolerate a season or 2 extra in League One.  Then you go up with those guys all hitting the 20-25 year old range, they should mostly be good enough to step up,  and you don't need a massive rebuild.

Exactly, by progressive I also meant the philosophy at the club being completely in tune at all levels, playing the same style so we can bring through our youngsters seamlessly from youth team to first team. But that style has to be one that’s entertaining and exciting. It’s not a lot to ask and would make L1 a lot more tolerable.

First, I’m sorry about your Dad, cancer is a b****** ❤️

Second, we don’t know that it’s “unconditional” support, it’s potentially very conditional just with more clearly defined terms and timescales that the general fan base are not privy to. I’ve had to say this many times, I’m not specifically “pro-Warne”, I’m just accepting of the fact he’s the manager for now and am willing to wait it out until either it improves or he’s removed. I might enjoy the football less but I’m still happy enough to stick with it, knowing I’m not paying out the time and money many are to attend in person due to my own circumstances.

I hope things improve for all of us fans at some stage sooner rather than later 🐏

Thanks mate, it sure is a b******! I only mentioned my dad’s situation to illustrate how important the club is to people like me in terms of providing a complete distraction from day to day stuff and how the club needs to be careful not to lose a chunk of the fanbase through sticking with someone whose football is so unenjoyable.
I know we all just want the best for the club so the divide between the Warne in/out camps is really sad. Let’s hope things improve and we can all get back to supporting our team unconditionally. 👍

You talk about L1 mid table obscurity and it's not unique for a club of Derby County's stature to get stuck in the 3rd tier for a number of years. It's probably defined by the circumstances of a clubs demise and the associated financial fallout. So in Derby's situation, 3,4 or 5 seasons in L1 is not beyond the realms of possibility. The owner might be taking a pragmatic approach and accepting this, hence being willing to give Warne a lot of time without too many expectations other than sustaining a mid table position and hoping for some good fortune in the future.

I’m not precious about us being in this league for another couple of seasons. I could live with that if the football was decent and progressive, but it isn’t. It’s absolutely awful, the same thing week in week out. I want to be entertained, to watch creative exciting football, but instead I have to endure Warne’s repetitive hoofball at places like Stevenage where I spent my hard earned yet again to watch the same failings. The mate I was there with was at Shrewsbury the week before watching the same thing again. He’s going through a divorce and money is tight but he goes to matches for a bit of a break from the strain of it all. My dad has terminal cancer and like my friend watching the Rams is a break from the strain of that. This is the point I think some of Warne’s adherents fail to see; football is meant to be entertaining, but Warne’s football philosophy is sucking the life out of the club and turning a lot of Rams fans away. In an era where the cost of living dictates what people spend their money on, the club have to be careful that the unconditional backing of Warne doesn’t cost them revenue that will be badly needed at this level of football going forward.

Said arsenal fans about arteta. I'm not saying Warne is going to be the second coming of pep but I think he needs more time. We've not been bad enough to sack him yet.

We’ll have to agree to disagree Rammy.
And Warnes football philosophy and tactical nous are about as far apart from Artetas as it is possible to get!

I don’t get why anyone would believe Clowes to be a moron purely based on his decision to run his business how he sees fit.
If people don’t like Warne and want him sacked that’s up to them, other people don’t share that opinion currently, including it seems the one person who can actually make that call. Having a different (and far more informed than ANY of us) opinion doesn’t qualify Clowes as a moron 🤷🏻‍♂️

Absolutely right. Calling Mr Clowes names is unnecessary and childish, and like all Derby fans I have a great deal of respect and gratitude for what he did to save the club. However, as a lifelong Rams fan I believe those of us who don’t believe Warne is the right man have the right to criticise the owner for making the decision he did in bringing him in. Personally I think it was a poor decision (though perhaps understandable given Warne’s record at the time) that will set us back years as a club.
