It's not so much the video clip means the deal is dead so much as the video clip has given Mike Ashley a huge erection.

It might just be me but I don't think this sounds like the deal is in good health. Going to the MP's i.e., an important stakeholder for future lobbying rather than simply releasing a statement makes it feel like Ed may be closer to the truth than people think. Of course this is all speculation though.

The reports about HMRC "not agreeing" to the proposals aren't that they explicitly disagree with them, but more than they won't agree to *anything* until they have an actual preferred bidder to agree with.  The reports are that Quantuma had shared various scenarios with HMRC and that HMRC were comfortable with them.
And I have no idea where the 10% on liquidation thing comes from, it's not anything I've seen before.  My understanding is that the admins would sell off whatever assets we had, and then work down the preference list, paying what they could. HMRC would be behind MSD and Quantuma themselves on that list, so (depending on exactly how the stadium is handled in this case, and I genuinely have no idea about that), there is a good chance HMRC get nothing.  I've certainly never seen it suggested that they get a fixed percentage of what they're owed, and I'm not even sure how that would actually work, given it depends how much is raised from the sell-off.
(Please don't take this as abuse or anything, I'm not trying to be aggressive or argumentative, we're all just trying to figure out what's going on as best we can ?)

Hawaiian reacted to Highgate in I’ve enough of football.
At the end of the day, the power in football lies with the fans.  Even more so than with the players...and it's definitely not with the owners, whose football assets are worth nothing without the loyalty of the fans.  The problem is we are all too busy being consumers of football to worry about what's actually good for the game and work collectively.  We could do such things if we really wanted to..but yeah it seems like a million miles away at the moment.
Clubs should be fan owned for a start, the rich owner model is patently ridiculous and helping destroy club football as a competitive sport. Not that being fan owned will prevent clubs being badly run...but it's a start.
One thing is for sure...club football can't keep going like it is or eventually there will be some sort of grassroots revolution.  The showpiece occasion of club football, the Champions League Final, was not really Chelsea vs Man City last year, it was.
    Sheikh Mansour vs Roman Abramovich
And their respective billions.  What a shallow and pointless occasion it was.  Something has to change.

I would agree with you if there were 2-3 games to go and we were in this position. I would also agree if we had an unfavourable run in - say five away games and just three home games left.
But as it is, I don’t think a miracle is required. We don’t have to win eight games on the spin, after all. We just have to maintain a healthy goal difference and get enough positive results to keep us in touching distance until the final day. Once we get there, anything is possible.
Yes, recent performances have been mixed and yes, results away from home in particular have been poor. But our home form is really good. We have won six in eight at home and picked up 19 points from 24.
We have five home games, all of them are very much winnable as even Fulham have shown in recent games that they can have off days.
Thankfully we only have three away games left but none of them have particularly formidable home records. Seven teams have gone to Blackpool and won. 10 teams have gone to QPR and picked up a point or more. Nine teams have gone to Swansea and picked up a point or more.
We’ve not left ourselves with an easy task, this is true, but it hasn’t reached the realms of impossibility yet.
If we win on Saturday and other results go our way, the mood will change and we will feel plenty of encouragement for the run-in ahead.

I would still support a phoenix club. In my view I don't support Derby County Ltd I support the team, the representatives of Derby my home town. I feel affinity with my fellow fans. Ownership is in my view only the means to field a team from Derby. I mean, for instance, if the whole current squad, management, stadium, training facility were taken on by a new company post liquidation why wouldn't it be Derby County?

I'm not sure that's a definite. If the best offer we get is only enough to warrant a deduction, I think the administrators have a duty to accept it. The only reason I can see they've thrown out the Binnies' offer is they know there's a better one coming.

get your head out of your backside and stop making Morris out to be hard done by.....his fault 100 per cent ....lets hear your love for morris if this club folds!!

Ashley made a fortune out of Newcastle.
Sold the club for a massive profit and hived off land that he is now developing.
That will be his plan for DCFC but he needs to buy it at the right price to make it worth his while.
The state MM has left the club in has made it virtually un-saleable. The debt massively outweighs its value, it has no assets and the cost to buy it out of administration is likely to be too much for a business opportunity.
This I believe is why the Binnies have walked. They cant see a return on more than £30m. The immediate investment required on top of the purchase cost is huge, and the eventual division, and how long the club may be in that division, have a massive impact on payback and ongoing investment.
Dont forget how long the club  was for sale before administration. MM has dug a massive hole and left the club to rot.

No matter what we hope will happen fans don't stand a chance of getting football "business" changed. It is a business not a sport anymore or more like a sport in name only. There will be a lot of talk and proposals to do this and that making it look as if an effort is being made but while fans keep forking out for season tickets, match day tickets, club merch etc nothing will happen.People keep moaning about how fans are being treated but they keep turning up week after week.
Yes, you are going to reply with we support the team, that doesn't matter to owners/directors,while fans are doing that they will seem no need to change anything.

    No.
Does EFL have a vendetta against Derby County?
    Yes.

    Is Gibson a pubeheaded chancer?
    Yes.
I will be making no further comments at this stage until my next statement in a few  minutes time. .

I was so proud to go on the march. It was an incredible, wonderful, historic occasion. A beautiful, yet incredibly powerful statement. Something that one will remember for the rest of their days.
It was a fantastic turnout but I'm actually surprised more people weren't on the march. Why attend the game and not go on the march?
What did it actually achieve though? Has it made any difference other than showing that Derby County have some of the greatest fans in the world?
I have always been in 100% agreement with the fans who want to take the protest to Preston. I know we won't get 10,000 but if we could get 1,000, I am sure it would make the national news and exert more scrutiny on the EFL.
A totally peaceful protest of course. Just another beautiful, passionate message to hopefully help the cause.

Hawaiian reacted to Sussex Ram in Time for a poll....who's fault is it that we are still waiting?
What struck me about all the statements flying around a fortnight or so ago- from Steve Gibson, the EFL, and Quantuma- was the amount of finger pointing.  All the “it’s his fault” and the “you started it” is, frankly, tiresome and distracting from the real issue- which is getting the club sold.
My opinion is that it has to be the fault of a number of parties to get into a situation this complex. Mel Morris, Gibson/Couhig, the EFL and Quantuma all made mistakes.
I’d say Mel Morris made the biggest mistakes for the longest time, so he is most at fault for causing the mess. But the simplest way to resolve all this is Boro and Wycombe to drop their claims- so they are most at fault for this dragging on.
But I suppose that’s why we’re still talking about this. Boro and Wycombe will not drop their claim, and no one has the power to make them do so.

I know. The bad news also seems to coincide with my dad having tragic dementia times. I have never been so stressed generally and obsessed with my phone. Felt for B4 last night and knew how he felt so have tried to minimise time looking at this today then when plodding through the volume saw all the desperate stuff and it seemed so very very bad. Then saw about the £7m and felt my eyes welling up. Dont know what to think at this point. Draining.

I sadly find myself agreeing with that.  If it takes the demise of our club to bring about fair and independent regulation and a proper framework for financial fair play - with no capability for vexatious legal action by parties who believe they particularly suffered from breaches - then so be it.  I don't want to pay that price, but football in the round needs a radical overhaul in so many ways, if only so that Derby Phenix can find itself in a better place when it returns to this level.

It's just reached the point of pure embarrassment, from Boro, Wycombe and the EFL.
All those rival fans that are finding joy in all this when they could easily be next, wake up.
The game is littered with utter BS, we tried to find a different way with amortisation to compete with those awarded millions for failure, which the EFL retrospectively on Gibson's request found us guilty.
    Naughty Derby, grow up.
Rules have been retrospectively added to cover the EFL arses. Google enhanced embargo, see what comes up, Derby County, there was never a enhanced embargo before all this, it's something you came up with as Mel Morris publicly challenged you.
Meanwhile we have state owned clubs when sponsorships for official hotels, soaps and rubber ducks for 10x what they could buy this club for in the Premier League.
Do you not even realise how anti competitive the league that's responsible for your revenue is, do you not realise that the very existence of the Championship relies on multi millionaires prepared to be losing upwards of half a million a month, it's not sustainable even by your own rules.
Derby County reject a bid for their player which could be derisory, yet the EFL are on our case, are we in the position now where we have to sell Jason Knight for a fiver to keep Rick Parry happy, if that's the case then just end the game now.
We lost Kaide Gordon to Liverpool for a bag of monster munch and Freddo over that deal you agreed with the PL, how is that looking after your member clubs when they have to gift wrap the young stars that have been educated both on an off the field to satisfy the greed of the top 6 in this country.
Explain the benefit of that deal to your member clubs, please explain as from the fans that love the game, all we see is our clubs being screwed over.
Out of 2 play off finals which we were beaten, we were beaten by clubs that would have failed EFL FFP, we took it on the chin yet here we are, one club using bookies odds to build a case and another that didn't even earn promotion on merit jeopardising the existence of this club.
Meanwhile the MSM are far more interested in the likes of Man United and Newcastle to even realise what is going on outside the gold pit. The game is dying whilst the "journalists" are far more interested in finding the next tweet to create a clickbait article than actually do their jobs.
Nobody wants to touch it, why? We have a Serbian tennis player refused entry to a country and tournament, everyone, every journalist in sport is weighing in as we're sat here in limbo over let's not forget, retrospective punishment.
The EFL signed off our accounts that we have now been punished for, let that sink in.
I'm sick of it, sick of the rival fans looking to take the piss without understanding the situation, sick of the incompetent governing bodies, sick of Gibson and that Wycombe numpty.
We've rolled over, accepted the retrospective punishment, saved the EFL embarrassment of explaining themselves in court, yet the EFL are too gutless to tell the curly haired one to shut up as they are in fear of landing themselves in court over the utter shambolic way they have ran this league.
Grow some balls Rick, accept some responsibility over how the investigations were handled and do the right thing, tell Gibson to F off, tell Wycombe to F off and learn from your mistakes.

You've not offended everyone mate, in fact, you've probably not offended anyone really.
Our problem is that liquidation is staring us in the face if a buyer doesn't come forward soon. I'm no fan of Ashley but is he any worse a chancer than Rush or even our Mel?
No, they're all in it to make a bob or two, if anything, Ashley has the wherewithal to not have to asset strip the club, sort the debts out and  give Rooney enough backing to have a go at sorting us out.
Don't worry about what others say, state your position and take no notice if others disagree.
Despite all the banter on here, I believe a lot us are genuinely worried our football club is on the brink. We've had to put up with out and out criminals like Maxwell and the 3 amigos before so a few years of the grey trackie salesman owning us should be a breeze.
