So we are waiting for the result of the DC panel (or whatever it’s called) and simultaneously waiting for a potential takeover announcement.
Both seem imminent, but in honesty, both seem to have been kicked down the road so many times you just wonder when and if we will ever see the end of them.

Meanwhile DCFC seem in complete limbo …. armed with a selection of academy graduates and a handful of championship or near championship level players, a team which many think are barely capable of staying in the league and a squad that just is simply way to thin.
Our manager has barely kept us up and was very clear a month ago that he needed action immediately to prepare for next season … after which nothing has happened. How much patience does he have?
Our best youth players are not signing contracts and even mediocre players in our squad are being snapped up by rivals.
So as fans, do we continue to sit and wait and play the patience game … or do we panic?

What he said - I've been here more than once, no longer have a life that revolves around 3pm Saturday. Football has become a fickle interest, they have changed the relationship with the fan to one of a customer. The recent events have also given us all so much more to find to do on a weekend - it's sad to admit but I'm really not that bothered enough to panic.
However, I do seem bothered enough to post on here about three times a week about how unbothered I am so I appreciate I am likely not being true to myself.

When? I've been hyperventilating into a brown paper bag for 30 years already now. After all, who needs perspective when you can have melodrama?
What is odd though, is that I'm sure I can recall darker times at the club and yet by some massively strange quirk of fate, the world has just carried on spinning. Go figure... ?‍♂️

    If Rooney walks.
Even though I don't want him at the club, the fact he is still here indicates things are progressing on the takeover front & that the news on the penalty (the severity of which I'm certain the club will be aware of) isn't as bad as first feared.
Rooney is an unashamed careerist & there's no way he would stay if a) there were no funds to bring in players/was going to lose players and/or b) a substantial penalty incoming. Too much potential damage to his brand and ambition & he's already got a ready made narrative of 'keeping us up'. His media pals will do their duty talking up his stint & protesting we're an impossible job.

It's not panicking it's legitimate concern at this point. The club is six weeks away from the beginning of the season, we have an absolute threadbare squad that couldn't compete for more than a month at this level before putting us bottom (yes it is awful) little idea about future ownership of the club and we're under embargo with an inexperienced managerial team. If this isn't enough to make us concerned about the club's future what is?

If I'm anything to go by, we start panicking within a couple of months of becoming a Derby fan. From there it's just one continual lurching panic to panic journey through to the grave, so far as I can make out.
My advice is to just go with it, and numb the worst bits with IPA. Or conceivably some brutal Belgian job, or some alcohol infused Ribena, according to some on here.

To old to panic about football at age 47. What ever happens happens.
Main problem for me if things don’t get sorted is the football will be a stinking pile of ? so I won’t want to watch it and have to find something else to do.

As ever, its a question of context. Looking purely at Jozwiak's output without it, you would be disappointed with his contribution last season. He did struggle to provide quality, got easily frustrated & his decision making wasn't always the best. There were glimpses of his potential quality though, he retains possession very well & no-one could question his workrate or defensive discipline.
Can't think of many harder gigs than being a young lad moving to another country in the middle of a pandemic, into matches with no fans, into a team that struggled horribly all season & with an inexperienced management team to help him. He also got precious little help with the team selections, often being one of only 3 attack minded players in the side (when we went 3-4-3) & hence got even more attention from defenders in our notoriously tough division.
In a good, attacking side he'd be very good & part of me hopes he gets a really good move off the back of this tournament. Clearly I'd rather he stayed with us & tore the division up but the reality is he could fetch good money & he can't be that enthused returning for another season at the fag end of the Championship playing dismal football. To contradict some on here, he's actually too good for us.

In honesty, this has to be closed out soon. The EFL can’t hold Derby to ransom over this and not let them plan for the new season. That’s just a recipe for a huge counter-claim.
Ae soon as it is … suddenly Derby become very investible. Wages are really very low and at some point fans will return. Plus we have a great academy set up. What a great place to invest! It’s literally a waiting game and we’re out of this mess. That’s my hope. That’s my belief.
Then suddenly we won’t be a relegation team instead we’ll be back on the championship roller coaster that we all know and love!!

I sometimes wonder if you actually know anything about football at all!
So that's five players totally out of position... six if you count New, who has only played there 3 times in his entire career, and he's been a pro for 18 years!
I know this is Derby County, and I know this is Wayne Rooney, but even they wouldn't be so useless as to put that bloody team out!
... Having said that, I do like the idea of New playing wide left.  Now that does excite me!

I was thinking of posting exactly the same thing. Our very best young academy prospects (delap and Gordon) get sold. Many of the rest don’t make the grade. You are left with the middling players that COULD become great. But mostly will end up in the championship or lower. Is it really a mode that is sustainable?
But, then you get the occasional player that we can sell for a few quid and pay the wages for another period of time. Whether that’s Bogle and Lowe (wages for a year or so??) or Whittaker (wages for a month??).
But you need basically one a year to help pay the wages, which isn’t realistic.

in summary, I struggle to see this as a sustainable business model, and I don’t see it as a way to get into the prem. unless we get very very lucky.
I would add how many of our academy players right now our championship standard?
    I would say two.
and how many could be in the next two years ...
I would say two maybe three.
This strategy just doesn’t work, which I find really quite sad.

I have just looked at our matches this season and I think we have scored just two equalisers so far this season. That sounds pretty dire to me (let me know if I’ve miscounted). Does anyone have any stats on how many equalisers we should expect in a season?
