Ok . It’s not my problem it’s Warnes and the clubs if Collins is out long term .

    I am just disappointed ☹️

Hope Warne can get us promoted but I won’t get over Bird going easily.

Bird made it clear he wanted to leave, his contract expired at the end of the season the best we could do was sell him and get him on loan for the rest of the season. Since he signed for Bristol City his form for us as improved and he seems to be playing with more freedom, whether this was because his future is sorted or because Adams as come in and does all the ugly stuff I’m not sure probably a bit of both

Then there's that time back in April 1975, I went to my first ever football match, saw them given a beautiful shiny trophy and become crowned as the country's No1 team, so I obviously chose them as my team for life... etc, etc...

    #born loser, me!   🤣

That last game of 74/75 was against Carlisle United we won the league and they finished bottom

We play Carlisle United at home last game of this season, we’re going to win the league and Carlisle are going to finish bottom it’s fate I tell thee

Ha!  I'd forgotten about that! (Genuinely).
Anyway... It wasn't "All" the stationery (*Note the correct spelling, from someone who did more than just play for the school team! 👀).  It was one item.

It was my only ever attempt at theft... and due to getting caught*, I've never bothered to attempt any form of theft since... so it was for the better, he says, defensively!

*Not sure if I was just a rubbish thief, or someone dobbed me in?  You wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you?  🤪

    🍻

You don’t have much luck do you, one attempt at theft and caught, one attempted punch at a football match and your arrested and handcuffed to some railings. Just coincidence I was there for both honest😀

Busy week here.  Completely missed this game, and not even had chance to do anything more than a very brief speed-read of this thread.

...Just got around to watching the 8min highlight vid... No way did we deserve to win that... They even hit the post, FFS!  👀 🙄

Ha!  A nice steady strike from Max for the first.  Not spectacular by any means, but it's still a good 22/23 yards with 5 striped shirts and a keeper twixt him and the goal.  Thumbs up from me.

I'm gonna give Max the benefit of the doubt, and assume he knew where NML was (Or where he should be? 🤷‍♂️) for his delightful little triple reverse blind lobdink, and I adored NML's deft touch with his bonce, to set himself onwards and goalwards.  Good touch, good run, and clinically finished.  Only a cheeky little dink over the keeper could have bettered that... but I ain't complaining!  My favourite of the highlight reel.

As for the 3rd, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for coming inside, and curling one in from one corner of the box to the far post, around and beyond what is always an overstretched keeper.  Beautiful!

I'm sure I scored one just like that v @Henrycav81 in '77 (He always ended up in goal for some reason, can't remember why! 👀) #lastpick.

Only seen 8mins, but hell yeah... we so deserved that!

    🐏

Funny how I played for the school team 2 years above me (your year) and you couldn’t get a game🤣

Mr Malkin said you had two left feet

You were more remembered for relieving the school cupboards of all their stationary if memory serves me right

Rumours up North that he's spending more time with certain murky acquaintances and enjoying the notoriety. I reckon the fire in his belly has gone out.

In other news, heres a headline from Jan 2nd in various news outlets in Scotland

"Gangster who dated Euromillions winner Jane Park shot dead outside Edinburgh pub"

There's a video on social media of the gangster who got shot calling out other gangsters on New Year's Eve. Unreal...

It looks from the outside that there's a turf war in Edinburgh / Glasgow and people are taking sides.

Hasn’t Taylor had a bit of previous with a nightclub doorman before, not sure if it ended up in court I think it may have been some sort of sectarian comments. I know he’s a big Hibernian supporter

Yeah, that was my impression, hence my surprise at the the way the fight was priced up. I think on the after fight stuff, it was a bit embarrassing, but in fairness, he should never have been in that position, while two of the judges should never work again. Folk are saying that it'll be different this time, so presumably something was awry last time out, though I wasn't aware what, then or now.

Word at the time was Taylor was struggling to make the weight, i think he said after the fight that he would be moving up a division and if Catterall wanted a rematch it would have to be at a higher weight. I think Catterall had already moved up a weight to take the first fight. Ben Shallom who is Taylor’s promotor said Catterall had won by at least two rounds and that the decision was a bad night for boxing

Might watch the fight again, as I'm not entirely certain Taylor beats him second time either based on what I recall, so maybe a refresh is required. All I recall thinking at the time was that Catterall was good value, despite the absurd judging of the contest.

Vegas line has Catterall at +750, with Taylor -900. I'm thinking I must have missed something!

I watched the first fight live and thought Catterall won comfortably, I often watch fights again and sometimes you can appreciate why it was scored differently to what you initially thought, having watched the Taylor v Catterall fight again I can’t for the life of me think why anyone would think Taylor won the fight. For that reason I hope Caterall wins the rematch also I think Taylor spoke like a prat after the first fight

Despite taking a 2-1 lead forest dug deep to find a way to lose. Outstanding work by the gary baldys of rushcliffe borough.

They never led were behind 3 times, I feel Luton missed a great opportunity today. I think it’s between luton and the red dogs for the last relegation place , I reckon Everton have enough to stay up. Of course hopefully they’ll be a points deduction for Everton and forest and they both go down 🤣

    1985/86 we won 3-0 away

Score 3-0 to Derby County CompetitionLeague Division Three  Attendance 13,086 https://www.11v11.com/matches/notts-county-v-derby-county-08-march-1986-140607/

I cannot find the match report but Notts were averaging around 3000 for their home games and 13000 against us. https://nottinghamshirefootball.com/carousel/ncfc8586.html

From memory we had around 9000 there, I stood on the terrace behind the goal.

PS it was a Saturday not Tuesday.

Yeah I went to the Tuesday night game in 92/93 which we won 2-0 we had a massive away following that night they had their ground rebuilt by then with the amount of money we paid for Tommy Johnson and Craig Short

I think Mikaela Mayer can consider herself hard done to there. Spent most of the fight on the front foot, clearly landed the bigger shots but came up short. Not going out on a limb and saying she was robbed, it was a close, close fight and you have to clearly win it when you are fighting the champ on their own turf. But she will fly home feeling she did enough - again!

I thought Mayer was even more unlucky with the decision against Baumgardner, tonight’s fight was closer

Yeah, i said when they booed the Star Spangled Banner it was bad form, only for them to boo GTSK even louder.

I’m surprised they were supporting Jonas with her Union Jack gloves on

Can anyone tell me the 3 shots we had on target  because it must of been a long piss

Nelson header, hourihane shot from outside box and Collins shot that keeper turned round for a corner all in the 1st half off the top of my head. Our best chance of scoring was actually 10 seconds into the second half when barkhuizen was clean through but for some reason Sibley chose not to play a simple pass to him and went down the middle to Collins instead

Went to tech (ilson)with Garth late 70's. Went to watch Forest/Derby in the infamous Boxing Day game 78 with the Ilson mob at Garth's invitation.

Ended up in the Trent End then chucked out after the rucks started.

We hung round Notts for the next two hours, having a few pints before heading back towards the station.

Got herded onto the Ramaway by the police (just to get us out of Nottingham as quickly as possible).

Not wanting to go all the way to Derby a plan was hatched that someone would pull the emergency cord just before Long Eaton and with luck we would stop more or less at the platform.

After much harsh debate, as to who and exactly when the cord should be pulled we had already passed through Long Eaton before the said act took place.

Fortunately the train stopped exactly on Sawley Road Level crossing and we piled out and began the longer walk back to Ilkeston.

About 8.30 by the time we got back to The Market inn.

Safe to say, being a bit of a Wuss i never went with them to another game again!!

I went to the Boxing Day game with my dad (I was only 13) we actually drew 1-1 if memory serves me right and were leading at halftime. The away end used to be down the side near the Trent end in those days

I'd forgotten about Walt... and his right hand man (Began with G... Garth was it? 🤷‍♂️).  Hadn't taken a proper look at that pic, but now you mention it, and looking again, that's definitely him.  👍
After being a bit scary (to me/us) when we first started on the Felix buses, it turned out that Ilson mob were a bloody good set of lads on there... and I always felt a bit safer when they were around!  🤣

Happy days, 'n all that!  👍🐏

Oh... and as for your cheeky comment at the end... erm... Oh, OK... Fair point!   🤣
You wanna see me now though mate.  Absolute brickhouse!  💪

Garth was a big hard fecker, Walt’s best mate seemed to be a lad called Haggis but your right they were a good set of lads

Travelled on the Felix to away games on the odd occasion, Not too many Ilson lads on at the times I travelled 🤷‍♂️

There’s only the wilmot and beau Brummell left and they’re under different names
