It's a cutting from a website I looked after when the original owner was in a commercial battle with a competitor...security, He's since passed and I closed it down a few years later.

There were 100s of clippings he kept, But overtime the defunct website has only 1 page left.

The lad you mention I do not know  🤷‍♂️

He was commonly known as Walt, used to travel with him and some of his mates on the felix to away games. The felix used to pick us up at the wilmot in Chaddesden usually it already had a load on from Ilkeston we used to keep our heads down they were all nuts. I usually had mucker with me as he’s already divulged his fighting prowess earlier in the thread you’ll understand why we kept our heads down

Best ability is availability. Riggott was always injured.

Riggott wasn’t always injured in his first spell at Derby which was played mainly in the premier league. It’s hard to compare players when they’ve played in different divisions, Phil Gee looked a world beater in level 2 of English football but struggled in the top tier, until Cash as played in the top flight it will be hard to compare

Do the top four play in the Premier League as Scott Williams will be a whipping boy. It was just a freak result when he beat an out of sorts MVG.

Littler v Humphries means the best two in this tournament are in the final.

I think it’s the top 4 in the world rankings that automatically qualify for the premier league not the top 4 in the world championships. They also have a certain amount of picks undoubtably Littler will be one of them

  4. Used to watch it religiously from the 70s till the 90s as I enjoy a good sports quiz, but turned into a comedy show and I’ve not watched it for years.  Catch the odd snippet occasionally and mcguinness is awful I don’t rate him as a comedian never mind a sports show host

Only caught the highlights, but those were some hateful body shots from Billam-Smith. Masternak has apparently got broken ribs 😱

Yeah, think all the damage was done in the 7th, 1 judge with some dodgy scoring again, 2 judges had it the same as me Masternak 3 rounds ahead while 1 had it level there was no way you could have it level, thankfully it didn’t matter and Billam-Smith got the job done

The modern day footballer is motivated by money rather than any sense of passion for the game or club loyalty, never mind giving a second thought to supporters and their opinions. Irrespective of the scripted cliched nonsense that they may trot out to the media, footballers consider playing football as a job, nothing more.

You can’t tar all footballers with the same brush, they would have all started playing football at a young age because they enjoyed football and had a passion for it not because they thought they’d have a career as a footballer if that was the case I should have asked Colin Addison for a job as a footballer when I left school in 1981 instead of going to Royce’s

They do trot out the cliches probably because they’ve had media training and are told not to say anything controversial as it will be twisted in some way in the media

I would be interested to know which Derby players don’t play with passion I see some that might lack ability but I’ve not noticed any that don’t try

He will always be our hero.

But here we are: a 60% chance of staying in this godforsaken league for at least another season. And as each year goes by, our club’s stock falls lower.

And even when we get back to the championship, is DC the man to lead us to the PL? Nope. Portsmouth, owned by a Disney billionaire, have a good chance of getting there. And they’ll be competing with other clubs owned by billionaires, some flying high on parachute payments. Truth is, Ryan Reynolds is more likely than us to see his team in the PL any time soon. (Or is it Netflix’s team?)

DC needs NOW to employ a smart well-connected agent to prepare a detailed proposal for a sale and to quietly and selectively market it to football mad billionaires across the globe. With middling PL clubs now going for 100s of millions, many might fancy a roll of the dice with us.

If he does that successfully,  he will go from hero to superhero. If he does not, many of us -  including him - might not see our team in the top flight ever again.

Haven’t we rolled the dice before didn’t turn out to well, Having nearly disappeared I’d rather stay sustainable under a real rams fan ( Morris wasn’t) than be a rich mans/corporation play thing until he/they gets bored if that means no higher than the championship so be it

I love the banter as much as anyone, and if there's any pisster be taken, I'll happily jump the queue... but give them and him credit.

In this day and age, getting up there is difficult to say the least, staying there is a massive achievement, and for whatever reasons (3 or more worse teams etc) and whoever finishes the job, staying up a second time is nigh on fantasy land.

OK... yeah... he's pug-ugly... they have extra digits... and pink seats... and inter-relational activities etc, etc... but on this particular topic, I'd rather keep schtum.  As "bad" as things are for them at present, they're well in the lead in the current stage of the A52 Rally!

I'd do something very unhealthy with my right arm to be in the position they are in right now.

    Now, pass me a bucket...

The bits of the match I watched, my god they were dog s***!!! They’ve been banging on about that sangare who they spunked about £30m on who is the player that will take them to the next level, he looked terrible. That Murillo however will be playing champions league next season - what a player the big clubs have missed a trick there and the red dogs will make a tidy profit.

Rumour is chairman wants top 10 this season 🤣🤣. I’m hoping this is where Maranakis blows it all up with his unrealistic ambitions. Sticking with cooper is probably best thing they can do right now they’ll get better and finish about 12th, 13th. They could change manager and either finish in the same position or end up in a relegation battle they should be nowhere near this season.

He's got history of blowing things up so every chance

You don’t know which way it will go if Forest bin Cooper.

Everyone wants to be in the PL so there is a good chance they could replace him with a top foreign manager who gets them playing some decent stuff.

There is also a chance the next manager flops and they go down next season.

They won’t get relegated with Cooper. But they’ll play crap football and be between 14th and 17th every season. Is that enough for their owner?

Rumour as it that they’re lining up julien Lopetegui

You think we made 6 million on Ince and 4 on Vydra? Do you think we were not paying them while they were here?

Derby were relegated because Mel didn't pay the bill. Mel didn't pay the bill because he had burned a big hole in his wallet. Mel had burned a big hole in his wallet through poor recruitment.

Mel didn’t pay the bill because he chose not to, yes he probably lost money but I’ve not seen him down the food bank,he’s still a very rich man. Lionel virtually died skint due to ploughing his savings into the club but his legacy is pride park and moor farm. Mel managed to lose the club pride park. There are several reasons why everything went tits up recruitment being one of them.

Anyway I thought this was the matchday thread for what it’s worth I thought we played ok last night and deserved to win

What's caused so many folk to be happy to see the Indians beat. They seem to have put noses out of joint but is this just them wanting things their way as per, or something more? Seen nothing in the press.

Even though the World Cup was in India the ICC run the tournament and also say how the wickets should be prepared and which wickets should be used. For the semi final against New Zealand pitch 5 was selected by the ICC but India prepared and used pitch 6 which was a more used than pitch 5 and suited them better. I may have got the number of the pitches wrong but that was the essence of it

He seems like a lightweight. When things are going poorly, it's like he's notplaying.

We'd lose way more than we'd gain by moving the best midfielder in the world out of position to accommodate Maddison. He's light years behind Bellingham and Foden.

I prefer Bellingham in midfield rather than the advanced midfield role, he’s an absolute beast and can get up and down no problem he’s like Gerrard but more skilful. If we play Bellingham in centre midfield I think it makes us more of an attacking team because if Southgate played him in the advanced role he’d more than likely have Henderson or Phillips with Rice, we’ve got that much attacking talent we don’t need 2 defensive midfielders. I’ve put Madison in advanced midfield role and Foden wide but I’d be fine with Foden playing advanced midfield. I think Madison is the better passer of the 2 but Foden is better at running at defenders he can also pick a pass. Unfortunately we haven’t got 2 Jude Bellingham’s as I think he’s currently the best player in the world in 2 positions, centre midfield and attacking midfield

Good news.  About Wayne that is, not you in the nets.  Hee hee!  You lasted 10 minutes more than I would've.  Do the fixtures come out soon?  Wanting to plan my summer holidays.

August is a good month to go away if you don’t want to watch any of the counties play just the second XI one day cup in August while all cricket as to stop for the ECBs lovechild the 100

  15. Such sad news, lots of us when we weren’t grafting at Royce’s use to log on to the site just to see what B4 had to say, he was a DCFC legend as proven by this thread. I like many never met him but he was always positive and from some of the stories on here a caring and kind soul, if there were more like him the world wouldn’t be in such a mess as it is now

    RIP B4
