We had to fight for the win today. It wasn't pretty but we did what all good teams do, win when you're not 100%. We made a couple silly errors but our general quality at times surpasses 95% of teams in the league, maybe everyone. Had we had Warne frome the start I genuinely thing the table would look a lot different.
 
We are a solid (minus today's slip up) hard pressing, attacking unit. And we've now addressed the lack of width and over lapping from the full backs. Sibley is a revelation, and smith has now established himself as a really good rb.
Warne will get onto them about the errors today but I am genuinely blown away by the transition over the last few months. 
The future is bright.

Very surprised to see that they flew to Blackpool on Saturday, makes something of a mockery of their 'green' partnership with e-on to 'drive climate change awareness'. I realise it's not just them that are flying to games but it's obviously convenient to use them as an example - Not only is it extremely environmentally unfriendly, it doesn't make any sense, I just don't see the benefit. They were back 'on  the stand' at EMA at 19:25 on Saturday, that's more than 2.5 hours after their thrashing ended. Best case that has them at their training ground well over 3 hours after the match, quite similar to how long a coach may take. It's madness.

And it’s just such a massive faff for the sake of sitting on a plane for 20 mins. I’d much rather just jump on the bus and get my head down for 2 or 3 hours, rather than constantly ‘on the bus, off the bus’ every 10 minutes. 

This is where we have to carry on the Duck the Efl mentality that nearly kept us up last year. Other clubs have unfair advantage but. We can beat em anyway. 

100% They could have got home quicker on a coach, it makes no sense whatsoever. I would love to know the thinking behind it, I suspect it's a lot to do with the ego of players and clubs, basically 'because they can'.
This would also have cost north of £50k - The ATR 72-600 is not a small plane.....
I'll reiterate, it probably took them longer to get home this way, bonkers.

If Osula had shown something, anything, when coming on as a sub he'd have earned more playing time. He didn't and has pretty much lived off the back of his early performances against the giants of Accrington & Torquay. To suggest he should have started games over Collins is laughable.

The end of January sees the anniversary of the March before the Birmingham game.
Has anyone had any thoughts on repeating it as a celebration of us still being alive and kicking?

Big Trav has been pretty good and just passes on what he hears. Occasionally things change. Would you rather no one passes on what they hear?

Striker wise I've heard we've looked at and made contact with Waghorn, and Lyle Taylor on short term deals. Bonne is a player who'd id definitely go for but that's pure speculation on my end.  Also talk of Stretton returning but unsure at this point. Also don't believe any loan players will be leaving. Anang seen as a keeper who we want in the summer.  But don't expect many ins or outs this January. With our request for altering the business plan a failure it's a very small market of players we can look at or sign.  Hope you've all had a great Christmas and New Year period!

More violence in some challenges than that, cropped him up hardly booted him.

I quite like Warne’s football.  Yes, there’s the odd hoof out of defence when we’re under pressure but I’d rather that than trying to overplay and get caught out.  We move the ball quickly and try to keep it simple.  We look for a forward pass but not always and aren’t afraid to go sideways or backwards if necessary.  Key being if necessary.  Over the last couple of seasons it’s felt like that’s the first option.  We pass the ball in front of players, especially out wide meaning they don’t have to check their run allowing the defence to regroup.
Naturally he started to play 3-5-2, it’s what he knows and has played for the last 5 or 6 years.  But he’s not afraid to change it.  I like the fact he recognised that during the game on Saturday.  You could argue why start like that, but the flip side is it worked well against Portsmouth.
Yes, he does things fans won’t like.  I’d like 1 or 2 men on the half-way line when defending a corner, sometimes we do go long a bit too often when we could do with a foot on the ball to slow it down.  But that’s the case with every manager.  I hated the silly goal kick routine under LR, over passing and he also never put a man on the half way line.  It’ll be the same for others.
One difference is though, I don’t feel nervous when we go a goal down.  I always think we can score and it’s not been like that for a few seasons.
If Warne can get a few players in over the next 2 or 3 windows and have a full pre-season with them I think he could prove to be a very astute appointment.

Without wading into the debates over what's right or wrong, making everyone sit down at away games would reduce the atmosphere in the away end to a campfire sing along. Would be crap.

Really? Into the next round because we won, came back from a losing position to win, avoided a replay with the win, goal and assist for Sibley leading to a Derby win, more great goalkeeping from Wildsmith to make sure Derby won, no further injuries suffered during that win, more minutes for recovering players during that win…. Plenty to be happy about for me, but then I am a very simple man 

Fair play to Warne for changing the system at half time and making some subs to change it.

Just wanted to pop on your forum and let you know for those who are travelling down, that there is a pub called "The Excelsior Club" It's literally a 5-minute walk to the away terrace along Corporation Road. It has the normal range of beer, cider and lager on draught at competitive prices, in addition, it has a good range of bottled ales and ciders. We welcome away fans and its free entry. We do not serve food, however there are many food outlets within range of the club and we are more than happy to allow you to bring food onto the premises. I'll stick around the forum all week to engage with other fans.
