Surely that is just a contingent liability depending on whether various contract incentives are met. On the one hand the deal is "worth upto £10m" yet on the other hand we've paid just £2m so far so owe them £8m. Bielik has barely made 30 appearances so far, and unless I'm mistaken we've not yet been promoted with him, so this story just looks like standard hyperbolic bullpoo to me.

I still think you need to adjust the sights on your rifle mate. EFL didnt cause this mess and neither did Gibson. Get MM centre in your cross hairs and let fire. I do feel a email to the EFL letting them know that we, supporters are suffering as a result of Morris’s mismanagement may lead to a more compassionate response. Attack is the worst kind of defence in this instance. The fact that Sky want us on TV is a great advert for us as a big fish in this little pool. They won’t want to bankrupt us to prove a point but cannot let us get off Scott free either. We just need to take it on the chin and play the long game back to good times

    Just thought I'd say hi.
Been a long time visitor to this forum and enjoyed reading your comments (most of them anyway!). Decided to finally become a member so I can share my own thoughts, after what has been a whirlwind couple of weeks for the Rams (not to mention the couple of years leading up to it). Whether you enjoy my comments remains to be seen...
A bit about me – I was born in Burton but have spent the most of my adult life living and working in the East (Anglia that is). One of my earliest memories of the Rams was watching the Tin Man warming up at the BBG by nonchalantly curling the ball into the net from the corner flag, which to my 10 year old eyes was very impressive. The only thing I remember about the game itself was that it was 0-0, so McMinn's corners were probably  the most exciting thing about it.
Currently living near Ipswich so would be good to meet any fellow Suffolk Rams over a pint (ale not lager please). Not seen many Derby shirts down this way but know from this forum that there are a few.
Regardless of the situation we're in, loving the fight we're showing this season (and better football). Hope things get resolved soon so we can look to the future, whatever division that may be.

I’ve been critical of Rooney in the past on here so in the interest of balance I have to say he’s winning me over.  10 games in and you can see a style and pattern of play taking shape.  He’s trying to get us to play decent football, build from the back but with pace on the counter attack.
The last couple of weeks have also shown how tough his job has really been and highlighted some of the difficulties and problems he’s had that we haven’t always seen.  To find out about administration on TV must be tough but he’s handled himself well.  I also admire his honesty such as saying if he knew how bad it really was he wouldn’t have taken the job but following it with what sort of person would I be if I walked away.  It would be so easy to trot out the usual lines of it’s a big club, honoured to be here, etc.
He’s clearly building a great team spirit too.  The players clearly want to work for him.  We’re in for some tough weeks and months ahead but I’m starting to think he can bring us out of this in better shape.  Whatever happens this season, he deserves a chance to manage us in “normal” circumstances.

I don’t think Mel really wanted Mac the 2nd time around.  He was keeping the seat warm until Rowett was available - one of the good things about Mel was never paying compensation for a manager.  Mac was brought in to keep us up after Pearson but was sacked after a bad spell, and Rowett being available.  Even at Macs initial press conference he was presented to the media on his own apologising for how he left like a naughty schoolboy.  No sign of Mel, the complete opposite of all his other appointments.  Sam Rush was still here then and I think that’s why he was brought back.
But you’re right, he should have stuck with him instead of yet another change in direction in manager, style of play, type of players needed, etc.

Not even slightly worrying - they have an obligation to any potential creditors to find the very best deal for the club. If they limit their search to the few parties that have already been in touch, they'd be wide open to a charge of dereliction of duty.....

His last stint was when he took over from Nigel Pearson when we were the lowest scorers in England and Scotland.
The Reading loss was the season after we set several club records. Yeah the season ended badly but still was in the Play Offs until the last day.
I'm assuming you're saying Nigel was a terrible manager then if he had a great team and couldn't get us to win more than we lost in a season?
He didn't leave to go to Newcastle. He said he was going to stay and then was sacked. Then went to Newcastle.
Unlike some other managers who did jump ship at the first chance. Or a manager that knew he was jumping ship at the first chance but didn't have the decency to tell us before Pre Season and all our players were flying to America.

If the club or the auditors had in advance conducted an analysis to support their approach, I think we would have read a lot about it in the judgements. We didn’t,  in fact one of the panels (can’t remember which) did not find there was any systematic basis for our approach. Second thing is that the club was asked in the proceedings to produce all internal documents relating to the approach. None were provided. This suggests that no analysis supporting our case was done in advance; and that our accounting policy was driven by a desire to pass FFP rather than a zeal to give a true and fair view
The fact that (as we now know) we failed on a straight line approach supports that we adopted our approach to pass the test
not proof positive for sure but this is why I don’t think our approach was driven by detailed analysis

Because he was being employed by MM does that mean he should be barred from criticising him ? Employment is a two way straight and on that MM hasn't exactly done his part with his completely inadaquate amouunt of communication to the staff. Thing is what did Rooney say that was so wrong yesterday, he was critical of Mel's behaviour in recent times and critical in particular of his communication to his staff after being asked directly about it in an interview whilst also commending MM for the money he'd put in and that it was time to move past him. Everything he said was within the realms of reasonable professional criticism.
It should be also said that on the other hand that MM (in the brief appearances he's made) has made comments that are thinly veiled criticism towards Rooney.
Is this accurate, especially the last line? He said something to the effect of "We need to move past him" not that he was glad he was gone right ? In my opinion it was very different tonally than what you are trying to represent here. The comments about insincerety and dishonesty were about MM's speech to the staff and his interview in particular not necessarily about the guy in general (although I'll concede that isn't much of a stretch).
Honestly I can't help but feel Rooney's comments were perfectly in the realms of reasonable about an individual, robust maybe but from everything that's going off at the club it's not exactly uncalled for. I can think of plenty other managers that would have absolutely torn into MM here.

I understand that tonight many questions will be asked, both of the club and myself.
Tonight as the news was broke, I was sat in the pub, still am, it's hit me hard as I'm sure it has you all, I was not expecting it, there was no pre warning, no hint of what was to come.
I also understand that over the years my opinion has been questioned, it's something I have had to deal with, sometimes poorly, but with the best and honest of intentions.
Tonight I am hurting, just as much as you all, this is the club I love, the club I adore, the club I have tattooed on my hand for all to see with pride.
I love this club, please just think when posting over the next few days, weeks in anger, myself, the moderators, we do not deserve to be on the end of your anger or frustration.
Today is a dark day for the club, but as fans, we need to to stick together. We are Derby County, every one of us and we will move forward as one.

The amount of people who must have been lied to during this whole façade that's gone on for what now? 18 months or more? It's staggering.
Fans, players, Cocu, Rooney. I feel sorry for each and every one of them. We were painted the picture that the EFL were the enemy, they're the ones we have to blame, we're the victims. Yet we embarrass ourselves on a regular basis, drag our name through the mud, for what reason? To save face temporarily? To make Mel Morris and Stephen Pearce seem like good people, "one of the lads"?
In my opinion, both are completely odious who should be downright ashamed of themselves and any involvement they've had with this Club. I mentioned in another thread that a positive would be having the EFL off our backs and being able to start afresh without a knock-on effect in to next season in the third tier. Another huge benefit will be having these two gone from our Club, and I hope neither dare show their faces again.
I can appreciate good-intentions and effort that doesn't pay off, or naivety that has lead to mistakes. But to turn such a positive position in to something so catastrophic, and then try to blame anybody but themselves is cowardly and disgusting. This Club will go on without them and will be a far better place for it too, good riddance.
