If you get chance, have a wander up the hill on to Hope Street. Its a much nicer part of town and there are plenty of bars and restaurants and its where most of the theatres are based (Philharmonic and The Everyman).
Not sure how much time you'll have, but if she likes the cinema, "The Other Everyman" in the Metquarter is a fantastic picturehouse with a great bar. Big comfy sofas in the auditorium and food/drinks waitress service.

As a country bumpkin, we used to "borrow" a cow turnip from the back field and hollow it out, (we actually called them Turnip Lanterns).
By the time you'd carved one of those buggers out with a blunt pen knife, (took about a week), your hands were too sore to knock on any doors.

As a business owner myself, I never cease to be amazed at what some company directors get away with.
I suppose it depends on how you were brought up (and how well you like to sleep at night)?
