    Get Festy, Jozwiak or Kazim-Richards on - or even all three. Or Sibley.
    Let's not sit back like this but take the game to them.

    Whilst Wayne Rooney is doing very well with the hand he's been dealt, I think if Mel was still here investing that he would be pressing for the signing of more experienced players, just as every previous manager has done.
    And he will be asking a new investor to do the same.
    We can see "jam tomorrow " from him bringing academy players through, but as soon as a new owner is in place it will be back to "jam today!" From fans and manager.

    They may be, although we don't actually seem to have lost to Stoke recently.  The highlights of Saturday's draw with Chelsea are on their website, with some  commentary.  The trialist CB seems to be wearing no. 12 and I think the commentator referred to him as Callum Robertson, or something along those lines.
    On the Kain Ryan front, some posters seem to be reacting as if we've lost the next Rio Ferdinand.  Perhaps we have, but its more likely that we haven't.  He may not have featured much for the 18s, not because he was injured, but basically because Rutt, Aideyan, Brailsford and Cox have been doing better than him.  It was his agent who flagged up the news & of course it would be entirely wrong of us to think that he might have been behind the story about lots of Premier League interest ........  Anyway, good luck to Kain going forwards.
    With the Gordon & Delap departures, I can see why people  are worried.  But 16 is very young to be judging players.  If you remember back to when Lee Holmes first appeared at 15 for us, we'd have been gutted if he had left at that point for next to no money.  As it was, though, he never really kicked on and we gave him a free transfer when he was 21.    Similarly, just think how elated we would have been to get Bobby Duncan when he was 16 and The Next Big Thing?.
    Meanwhile, we've done our own share of signing young players from elsewhere in Plange and Ebiowe.  Plange was of course terrific on Friday night, and as for Ebiowe, from the little I've seen of him so far, definitely seems to have a considerable amount about him.

    I could re-write that article saying CK is coming over to further demonstrate his commitment to buying the club and to see what he can do to help speed up the process. Nothing factual would have changed but it wouldn't get so much reaction.
    As for him being shocked by what we owe, he had paid his money and would have known the financial situation weeks ago. The only person who is "shocked" (mock outrage) is the "journalist" (hack) who wrote the story.

    Another wonderful post @Brailsford Ram. Thank you so very much for these fantastic memories.
    I am the same age as @uttoxram75 and, started supporting around Chrimbo 1968, only going to occasional matches during the next few years, and didn't go regularly to games until 1975-76. I agree it would have been better to experience the barren years before the successful ones. For me, the peak good times came first, and generally it's been downhill ever since, with the few highspots under Cox and Smith.
    Anyhow, please keep posting. Your contributions are a fascinating read. A really great perspective from someone who was there.
    Thank you so much.

    Fascinating. I note earlier that Clough was unhappy with falling gates @ 35,000?. We’re the club not found guilty of cooking the books re attendances and could this have been a ploy by Clough to pack more in. Having stood on the pop side in a 25,000 + attendance and found it cramped to say the least what was it like when there were 35,000+ crammed in and do those who were there think attendances were bigger than stated?

    Matchday 19 – Saturday 27th November 1971 & a trip to Leeds Road, Huddersfield
    Huddersfield started the day 5th from bottom but Derby were to record their first genuinely poor league result of the season here, losing 1-2 in front of 15,329 – our goal coming from John McGovern. Incredibly, this was the last league game Huddersfield won this season & they duly finished bottom the following May. Match report below;

    Programme of the day from West Yorkshire;

    A poor day was compounded by everyone else in the top 6 winning – Derby dropped to 3rd with only goal average keeping them ahead of Sheffield Utd (who beat Ipswich 7-0) & Leeds. Man Utd won again (5-2 at Southampton) to go 5 points clear of the Rams;

    Whatever this season brings I can’t help but feel all warm and gooey inside every time we kick off.

    Bogle and Lowe have long gone but they were a good start. Now, when I see the long long list of youngsters who over the last 12/18 months got a baptism of fire and met it with commitment and skill; I am filled with hope and delight.
    so many, even in this short time, have shown they aren’t lightweight kids thrown in to a desperate mincer. They have skill, fortitude and ability. They  have stepped up with ease.
    Watson, Williams, Thompson, Knight, Bird, Ebesole, Buchanan, Cashin, Sibley, Stretton. Just look at that list !
    Anyone of them can and will wear our shirt and give a good account of themselves. They have reached the mark at a young age. They are at the beginning. At this stage of their development they will only get better .. it’s a heck of a list from one club .. to produce virtually a full team from your own toy box in such a short stretch of time is magical. Manchester United make much of their youth development with 100 x our resources. Rooney, Daz Waz and even Mel must get a salute for being part of this. Then add in Curtis, Fozzy, Colin and Jags .. what great examples they are setting. .. These kids will win something, this year, next year or 5 years down the line.

    It may sound strange but I am enjoying this battle against the odds because I am seeing character, courage, growing skills, enthusiasm, pride and sport prowess of the highest order. It is hugely rewarding and just joyful to see it.

    For the doubters about the academy another 2 young lads have slotted into the first team playing against Bournemouth and Fulham and both did not look out of place, the future via the academy is very bright, guided by the experienced Jags and Curtis and senior players on the pitch.
    Cocu was for me should have been the perfect fit for PSVs academy over 5 years made a profit of £100 million pounds on player sales over 5 years and the team won the Dutch league 3 times in that time, sadly for Cocu and his staff it was the wrong time for Derby with the mess we were in,prior to there arrival.

    I think Derby county beat the drop to league one a lot of teams have written us saying we have no chance we just beat bourmonth and drew fulham 0-0 and with pressure off us now the lads looking so more confordance and more than match fulham and we have some winnable games coming up. Next up QPR at home after that Blackpool and then we got Bristol city away. I think we could get at least all 9 points from these games.
    And lads are feeding of the us Derby fans louder we are the better theh are playing and putting bodys on the line for us and Derby county. I think teams will be soon looking over shoulders at us.
    So I say we help lads avoid the drop to league and really really really upset efl and than banker gibson.
    Let's get pp rocking got QPR at home let the QPR players think oh god what has efl done here there fans are sticking by the team and they are not dived but togather standing as one. This not going to be easy one in fact let's make so they dont even want to play but just want QPR players want go stright back home.
    Let's our players think oh wow they really really do have our back so lets do this they chant Derby fight till the end and they really really means this.
