I want Warne gone, not because his jokes are poor, not because he's sarcastic, not because he thinks wearing a bobble hat will win everyone over.....
I want him gone because of his tactics, because of his insistence on reverting to 3-5-2 when it clearly doesn't work with our players, because of his team selection and substitutions and because of his priorities for strengthening the squad.
I do actually think he's quite a nice bloke but I'm afraid his management does not suit our club, with our traditions of football and the high expectation of the supporters. Sorry.

IslandExile reacted to Rampant in Match Thread: (A) Peterborough United
    Date: Saturday 26th August, 3PM
    Venue: Weston Homes Stadium
Form Guide: Peterborough have started the season well as they aim to put their playoff nightmare from last season behind them. Their 1-0 defeat at Northampton ended the 100% record they opened up with in their first three matches. Impressive wins at Reading (1-0) and Barnsley (3-1) came either side of a 1-0 success over Charlton in their only home match to date. Nine points out of twelve sees them handily placed in third position albeit just three points ahead of ourselves.
Danger Men: Mason-Clark, Poku and Clarke-Harris are perhaps the trio most likely to get on the scoresheet. Often the most free-scoring (and conceding) of teams at this level, it is perhaps a surprise that their four matches thus far have only yielded seven goals in total (scored five, conceded two). Their current top scorer this season is midfielder Kyprianou with two.
Rams vs Posh History: The two clubs didn't meet competitively until 1963 and it was another decade until the second clash between the sides. Both those matches were FA Cup games and were both won by Derby.
The clubs first met in a league fixture on the opening day of the 1992/93 season when heavily fancied Derby lost 1-0 at London Road. Posh completed the double over us that season with a 3-2 success at the Baseball Ground, a victory which remains their only win on Derby soil.
This is a fixture in which the home side has largely dominated. Only 14 league games have been played with near-identical records for the teams.
    Rams Record vs Posh
    Home:  P 7   W 5   D 1   L 1    F 13  A 7
    Away:   P 7   W 1   D 1   L 5    F 8  A 13
Six wins for each team then with a couple of draws thrown in. Derby are looking to avoid a fifth straight defeat away to Peterborough, with the Rams conceding ten goals in those last four visits.
Derby's only victory on Peterborough territory came courtesy of a 3-0 win in January 2010 with the goals being a Steve Davies penalty followed by a brace from DJ Campbell.
Derby Team News: It would be a tough call predicting the XI Paul Warne selects as - to the best of my knowledge - there are injury doubts about Joe Ward, Kane Wilson, Max Bird and Tom Barkhuizen. There is also the possibility of transfers this week. Whatever the personnel available, most Derby fans will be expecting Liam Thompson and Jake Rooney to be given the chance to further showcase their abilities after both added plenty to the overall Derby performance against Fleetwood. The feelgood factor watching the younger Rams play well was the biggest boost I left the ground with today and hopefully next to get league minutes will be Dajaune Brown. To that end, a spot on the bench for him at Posh would be lovely please Mr Warne.
Summary: This is a tough match and if I'm still rolling for the trip to Bolton which follows then I'll be pleasantly surprised. We shouldn't fear anyone in this division but I think it's fair to acknowledge that Peterborough are a more settled team than us right now and that a draw - and especially another improved performance - would represent a decent return as well as ending that four-match run of defeats in this particular fixture.

Pleased to see a back four today, at least in the first half. Rooney did well at RB and it was good to see Cashin in his preferred position of LCB. A back four of Rooney, Nelson, Cashin and Forsyth looked solid.
Upfront Waghorn and Washington worked hard and combined well for the goal. Thommo playing just behind the front two was tremendous, showing energy, skill and determination. For me he was MOTM showing a willingness to commit defenders and plenty of energy to get around the pitch. NML at right wing also did well, combining well with Rooney in a partnership with potential.
Smith and Hourihane in CM lack legs and bite. We missed Bird and need someone who can break up the play, organise and do the dirty work when it’s needed, Hourihane does at least contribute goals and assists, Smith for me adds nothing.
The 2nd half started in a similar fashion to the 1st half but it wasn’t long before we reverted to a back 3 which became a back 5 and subsequently a back 10! I am always surprised when teams change tactics and stop doing the things that seemed to be working.
Finally conceding 56% possession at home to Fleetwood is for me a disappointing statistic and illustrates very well the fact that we fail to control games when in a winning position.

Agreed. That's why I started my post by saying my stance is nothing to do with interpretations of his Cashin joke.
I also mentioned that I quite like the guy. I heard an interview with him on Radio 5 years ago about how he cared for the Rotherham players well-being. I liked him then. Still do.
But from his appointment on, I've been concerned about whether his tactics would suit our club - or bring the kind of football I enjoy watching. It's nothing personal.
That said, I would love it for him to succeed. Because if he does, the club does and so we all do. So fingers crossed.
And, like us all, I will always support Derby County - heck I even did during the Docherty years so...

At least you've been honest and nailed your colours to the mast.
Not sure about the high expectations of supporters as a reason wanting Warne out of the club as this isn't singular to Derby - just look at the managerial turn over in all divisions in recent years, it's systematic of the short termism rife nowadays and insistence for immediate results.
As long as you carry on supporting the team as am sure you will then I don't have any issues, it does become tiresome though - as other posters have mentioned tonight - when folks whom have clear agendas about PW start to nit pick about how funny a joke was in an interview for example. That does just seem petty.

This kind of feeds into what I was told this week. Clowes' is fully commiting to the academy, in terms of a (relatively) very high budget. The first team is a (relatively) low budget  with the aim of getting to the Championship as soon as possible.

Currently, no, I don't have high expectations.
We are still under financial restrictions and have an owner who appears to want to run us as a sustainable business.
My expectations are with the above in mind.

I think the problem is that Warne wants to get back to playing 3 CBs as soon as possible - Rooney would be one of the 5 main CB options.
With Ward and Wilson missing at least 14 first team games (12 in the league), I can see the need for an extra body at RWB. With Forsyth being a CB option, someone who can cover LWB would be ideal. I think this will be a season long signing.
My issue is, I think we're better suited to playing 4 at the back. This is due to squad balance and depth more than anything else. For example, Barkhuizen and Mendez-Laing are contracted for 1 more year and neither fit into a  3 at the back system. Unless playing with wingers, that's wasted money being spent on wages. By default, that means playing 4231 or 433. This is also before you consider the tactics used, which highlights the defensive vulnerability of our CBs and lack of control in possession, especially with a 2 man midfield.
If it wasn't for the injuries to Bird, Ward and Wilson, I would argue we have enough depth for a 433 and would be an AM short of 4231. Argubaly another winger/forward in both systems for ideal depth. With our long term injuries, I would be adding a RB and a winger to that list.
In all 3 at the back systems, we would need more players, simply because we would be over loaded in forward options who aren't actually suited to the role (Waghorn, Collins, Washington, Mendez-Laing, Barkhuizen and Sibley, whislt still wanting another forward). We can't play 3421 as we don't have anyone other that Sibley who is suited to the supporting role. Yiu could play a nukber of player there (Mendez-Laing, Washington, Waghorn) but they arent suitable options.
    433 - RB (covers CB/LB), LW
    4231 - RB (covers CB/LB), AM, LW
3421 - RWB (covers LWB), AM, AM, AM
3412 - RWB (covers LWB), AM, CF
352 - RWB (covers LWB), CM, CM, CF

    Positives:
Rooney looked so composed. How we’ve ended up with him in our under 21s is some recruitment/luck. Will be a very solid player.

Nelson looked a lot more comfortable.

    Forsyth looked very good again.

Thompson aside from his stupid unnecessary booking had a blinder. Making it hard for Warne to drop him. A good performance.

NML out wide is so so much more of a threat than NML down the middle. In the first half he was always an option. Second half looked dead on his feet - Barkhuizen on the bench to replace him will be a big plus to the squad if we continue to play with proper width.

Waghorn is one of the most technically gifted forwards in this league. Absurd that there were fans who didn’t want him back. It was never about nostalgia it was about seeing him doing things our other forwards can’t.

He also said some need to realise we are a league one club.
Sorry if that’s not really gossip but if he had told me anything juicy I don’t do kiss and tell 😂
