Just listened to the TalkSport interview. As you would expect he came over really well. I don’t think there are many managers that have his level of emotional intelligence. It’s clear there is lots of thought and planning behind everything, Paul and his team clearly live and breathe and put the hours in. Really interesting there’s two systems he’ll focus on in preseason and basically the players need to know everything about it so have to do their homework and be prepared to talk about it.
Also it’s clear that he sees good dressing room environment as a potential differentiator and focuses on it heavily,  Personally I think this is why we beat Bolton  automatic, when we weren’t playing well the squad togetherness got us through. Most successful underdogs have strong dressing rooms and togetherness. Look at Luton Cov those sorts of teams. It can bridge some of the gap in quality where teams have bigger budgets. Interesting the whole Warne being appointed was basically Stephen Pearce liking Warne’s interviews, listening to his podcast and basically concluding this is the type of manager we want running our club. Human first and foremost.
I also found it interesting when Matterface was asking him on Derbys budget last season trying to infer maybe Derby didn’t have the biggest budget and overachieved last season, Warne genuinely didn’t know if we had the biggest budget he saw the team as top 4, not necessarily top 2 which is how I saw it. However more interesting he said that in his 3 Rotherham promotions not once did he have a top 6 budget. I think we need to put some more respect on just what he achieved there.

This season is his acid test, he will be battling expectancy, but he’s here as he wants to push Derby towards the premier league and go beyond  where he’s been as a manager before so he has the hunger, he creates a positive environment for people to be at their best and has demonstrated throughout his career thus far he can overachieve his budget, something we will need to do if we are to ever get back to the premier as there won’t ever be a scenario until we’re promoted that we have a top 3 or even top 6 budget. He’s definitely the right man for now and I really hope he proves to everyone this season just how good he is.

You’re probably right but this latest action feels as if it could be seismically shifting of the game itself, whichever way it goes.
The soul of the game in the sense of relatively equal competition that allowed, for example, us as an East Midland club with a proud and long history to reach the pinnacle of the game in this country and, importantly, stay there for several years, is long gone. Likely never to return. When clubs are owned by countries and extraordinarily wealthy ones at that, with aims of a financial free for all and overturning the status quo, ignoring the rules that don’t suit, then the whole sport had better be wary. Today the PL, tomorrow UEFA, the day after FIFA, or control of their competitions anyway.
If the PL lose then the domination of the wealthy few gets worse and worse; if they win they will not only create the most godforsaken administrative mess as they work out who really won what over the last 10 years (and generate endless other disputes in the process) but they will also have to cede authority in a number of areas to keep the other major players happy; if it’s a PR draw, and all the charges are dropped, then the richest get stronger.
I am so glad I have lived my era, seen my football, seen a game and sport with some reasonable approximation of soul.

Real Madrid won the champions league yesterday with 34 year old Toni Kroos and 38 year old Luka Modric both playing in the match.
Man City won the premier league with 34 year old Kyle Walker and 32 year old Kevin De Bruyne being key players.
Leicester won the championship with 37 year old Jamie Vardy playing up front.
Portsmouth won league one with 33 year old Marlon Pack playing a key role in midfield.
Those are just some examples for you. It’s an inaccurate generalisation that players over 30 in the modern game can’t play at a good level, especially given the sports science, conditioning, diets and squad depth involved.

For me there's no issue with us signing or having players over 30, the key will be having a balanced squad with some younger players around them.

Perhaps - but he's still a manager with four promotions in seven years as a manager. You could look at the relegations, of course, but context to those are that he had the smallest budget in the league by a significant margin and when handed a relatively competitive budget then he's shown he can get over the line.
I think there's a good number of chairmen who would take his record & his character and would like to work with him.

It’s interesting. Let’s contrast opinions, results, owners.
Fans get us out of league 1 asap
Clowes : get promoted but this aim is not necessarily within one season. We want to endure
Hull : gimme gimme gimme .. or else

How many of us were calling for Warne to be sacked because we didn’t make the play offs ? Yet how many of us are saying it’s harsh to sack Liam because he didn’t either ?
Results .. a bit of patience and we made it, they have to start again. Foolish in my mind as, whatever the finishing position they had an incremental improvement.
There are comments on this thread about itchy trigger fingers yet so many of us are just the same and will be again next season. For me, for at least the next 2 years, we don’t need to think about sacking a manager unless we are in danger of relegation and its force majeur . Building things takes time. Keep your powder dry.

A good and more positive post than some you have made. I think some fans over-credit themselves with the view that they changed the way the team played following the defeat at Stevenage. Paul Warne and his players would have known that their performances weren’t good enough to achieve their pre-season goal of automatic promotion. The team weren’t helped by the number of injuries they had, forcing some players to play out of position etc. Warne was also not able to get some of the new players he wanted e.g. an “Adams” type player and he first spoke to Nyambe at the start of the season, but he didn’t want to sign at that stage as he thought someone higher in the pyramid would come in for him.
The team and manager fixed their form, not the irate supporters.

I sincerely hope he is able to sign the players he wants this summer, as I am keen to see how Warne plays next year. We do still need more aggression, athleticism and pace in the team. Make no mistake their will still be plenty of “roll your sleeves up” encounters next season but hopefully some very good football to go with it.

I was at the game and loved every minute from hitting the Neptune at 0930 and leaving the Brunny about 2030 en route to my hotel where I had another couple before hitting the hay, having been up since 0300.
I've just watched the full 90 plus all the shenanigans on the pitch afterwards. Congratulations, Owen. You didn't melt. You stayed very professional and did a sterling job. Your voice was so chock full of emotion, you could have been forgiven for having a meltdown but you soldiered on. Like a true Ram, fighting till the end. Thank you for your coverage, not just from last Saturday but also from the other 38 games where this expat watched and listened to #RamsTV just outside of Amsterdam. Already looking forward to next season's offerings and hoping I can, again, get over for around 8 of the games.

I hope it will bring a smile to your face that Dan found a place on here where he was understood , loved and defended to the hilt , it always made my smile and made me proud when perhaps a newish member or one who hadn’t had much interaction with him might get in a bit of a spat and so many of us would jump to his defence , yes we could disagree the odd time over an opinion but going over the top with Dan was not tolerated, im sure there are many ( myself included ) who learnt so so much from Dan or at the very least reminded us of things we already know but at times can forget

Not sure if I am alone in this today but I feel an overwhelming sense of closure after yesterday’s achievement. What a relief to be back in the Championship. But it’s more than that.
It feels like all the hurt over the last couple of years: the administration, the points deductions, the financial turmoil, the humiliation, the relegation; it feels like we can finally turn the page on that sordid chapter of our history. Like we can move on.
I’m not sure why I’m sharing this, but it feels even more personal for me than that, too. In the summer of our relegation, I lost my grandmother to cancer. She was the major connection to Derby for me. My whole ritual of going to the matches involved staying with her for the weekend. For some reason Derby County, the city of Derby, the supporters bus that would pick my Grandad and I up from outside The Gate in Swanwick, the cone of chips before the game, all just seemed to have disappeared.
I know it sounds strange but I feel like I lost my connection to the club in so many ways that summer.
Yesterday, watching everyone celebrating and the tears and David Clowes and Ed Dawe’s’ tears, just felt like closure. The end of the trauma and the start of something new. It felt like moving on.
Thank you, Mr Clowes, for all of that 🐏

B4 was Daniel Beavis. A lifelong DCFC supporter who died suddenly in November, just hours after attending the Crewe away match. He was only 38 and had held a season ticket for almost 30 years. B4 was his username on this forum where he was well know for his unique take on all things DCFC and his kindness to others. Despite the situation of the club or inconsistency of results, he was unbelievably positive. Dan had learning difficulties and despite what he may have typed on here at times, he was actually quite vulnerable and his world was quite small. His whole world revolved around his beloved Derby County. His death has been a shock to us but his passion and love for DCFC has left an effect on many who knew him, in person or virtually. He was also my brother.

To be fair to @Mucker1884 B4 was and still is one of the most important members on this forum. You've been on here for over two years and yet don't know who he is? This entire thread has been pinned at the top of this section since his sad passing. Even the club have acknowledged what he meant to them. On what should be their biggest day for decades they remembered him. Yet you can only ask "who's B4?"

    Hi all,
I just wanted to pop on and say congrats on a successful season and well deserved promotion. I know there's been some ill feeling between fans, mostly on the toxic social media platforms (not helped by a large number of idiots of which we at Bolton have f****** loads). I've scanned through your forum and a few others to regularly to check in on the thoughts of some of our promotion rivals over the season and as forums go, this one is generally positive and full of good and honest opinions. We have another fan called Wanderlust who often peruses the various forums and I feel he is a good fan for honest opinions too. I hope we can join you, I'm sure there's plenty of you hoping we stumble and end up stuck in L1 for at least another year, mainly for the fans who've been making stupid excuses for us not winning points this season. Reality is, you and Pompey were the most consistent teams over the season and thoroughly deserve your promotion, so well done and good luck in the championship next year. With your stadium and fanbase and what your fans have been through (trust me, I know what it feels like too), you deserve some good times now!

I trust his abilities. We may not be play off contenders next season but given half decent recruiting we won’t be struggling.

PW and his team know what they are doing.  A small upgrade in first touch/natural ball skills, signing Ebou and a scary striker and we won’t be pushovers.
I don’t agree with the criticism of his football style. It was designed and shaped by the necessity to get out of this league. This league isn’t pretty, the football often isn’t perfect either. We are somewhere else now. I am looking forward to the next chapter.?
