Had my jab at the arena today.

Say what you want about how we've handled the pandemic overall, but our vaccination program has been superbly organised.

Couldn't walk 5 steps without a marshall pointing me in the right direction and I was in and out in a flash.

How drunk were you that you were going in the wrong direction inside 5 steps every time?

Nah,nobody wanted Chelsea to win anyway

    I did.

I'm a seething cauldron of jealousy over Leicester doing so well.

Sheer unadulterated envy is coursing through my body like molten larvor spilling from Krakatoa.

I literally vomited myself to sleep last night whilst punching a fox I caught in our garden to death.

We should be Leicester and until we are I'm denying reality.

    No

  4. Now we have caught up with Mare of Easttown we've started watching The Serpent.

2 months earlier - That Mare of Easttown looks quite good.

6 months earlier - Has Kate Winslett done anything lately?

Yesterday- I think we've caught up on Mare of Easttown.

23 years ago - I'm not watching a film about a sinking boat when I know what happens, anyway wtf are the two people in it, I've never heard of either of them.

Now - Are you banging on about The Serpent jumping around all over the place again? No.

  5. Has Mare of Easttown come up yet?

Apart from the sucky play on words title and a bit of a slow start, it's absolutely brilliant 3 episodes in.

Kate Winslet is utterly outstanding in a Charlie George kind of way.

For those of you who like trivia, check out the stuff on IMDb about her when filming this.

Something I never knew was that most actors taking on a tricky dialect prefer not to break their accent during breaks whereas she didn't care a jot.

Seems like a lovely person too.

If a digital clock was broken you wouldn't see any display because they can't stick.

I was going to start that off by saying 'I don't mean to be pedantic' but then I realised, I absolutely was meaning to be a pedantic knob.

    Mission accomplished.

    Genuine question

what can u remember of our last stint in the 3rd tier ? It was just too early for me, my first season was our first season back in the 2nd tier under cox so I don’t remember any of the turmoil that went with it

how long were we down there for ?

I went to more games in the first season down (i think I missed 5 or 6) than any other season, so a fair bit.

When we went down we were in utter disarray. I think I'm right in saying that when Cox took over he only had 14 pros on the books.

We thought we'd stroll it (entitled then for sure - or just cocky), but when we lost our opening day game away at Bournemouth (who were a really poor team then) we knew it wouldn't be that easy.

I *think* we finished 6th in the first year but there were no playoffs. And we scraped up in 3rd the next year before we really hit our stride under Arthur in the old 2nd division.

So .... when I said moons ago we were In trouble (Check back in this thread) and got laughed at by the Derby county entitlement brigade .. yer u know who u are...

    were ducked ..... proper ducked

And no I’m not happy about it ... far from it

iv lived in notts for circa 30 years so everyone I know, work with or are mates with Will be revelling in our plight

So many on here have been  like our government over COVID ... it won’t happen to us we’re the uk ... we’re Derby county it won’t happen to us

    Well ... here we are

im truly fearful of our future as it stands ... like really really fearful

Im a bit pissed , a bit angry and above all a bit upset about the club I worship, live and breath

I just wish my old man was still about to somehow see the positive in this ... somehow as he always invariably did

as if I needed another radon to feel disengaged from Dcfc

I'm certainly one of the people who didn't think we would go down.

But having lived through the last visit to the 3rd flight at a time I was going to 30+ games per season, it certainly wasn't through a sense of entitlement.

It was because I saw, or thought I saw, under Cocu, signs of real quality coming through from the Academy.

I still think we may have better players than we think we have, but I'm a lot less sure.

Maybe there are people who feel entitled, I dunno. But I doubt you do either and I'm not sure what you want to achieve by labelling people as such.

You wish your dad was around to see the positive, but it seems like you don't want other supporters to do likewise.

Mel’s tenure on par with Sam Longson’s,turning riches ultimately to rags. Right now liquidation wouldn’t bother me. I’ve supported since the 60s and for me the current set up is the pits. Get the whole shebang gone.

    Yeh they're very similar.

Longson brought in Cloughie who then took the club from one struggling in the old 2nd division to English champions.

Longson funded record signings for Todd and then Nish and with BC finally resigning (even though Longson constantly asked him to stop his outside involvements and focus on the club and was willing to give him a 5 year contract) he brought in Dave Mackay.

Mackay built on Clough's success to build what was arguably an even better team and also took Derby to the Championship again.

Then he made the team even better by bringing in Charlie George and who knows what would have happened if not for the gut-punching injury to Charlie.

Longson left in (I think) 1977, but in any case, with the club in the top flight.

Mel Morris took over the club and nothing much happened. We did make the playoff final I suppose, if they are the riches you are referring to.

I think that comparison lives in only one place - your head.

I feel like i always say i'd just like some stability, but i genuinely wouldnt mind a few seasons of mid table if we could have some more memorable games v Forest or even some players i feel some connection to.

    Yeh you would mind.

Everybody says that, but one, perhaps two seasons of mediocrity and people would be utterly fed up.

    It's human adaption.

99% of the time we want things to be a little bit better.

And then when things are a little bit better we want them to be a tad better again.

  11. Can you imagine somebody asking you this at the start to the season - or even at Christmas.

All you need to  send Rotherham down is to take 1 point off them over the 2 games. How confident are you?

1 point off a bottom 3 or 4 team, you'd be pretty confident, right?

    Jeez, that's depressing.

You're an even tougher crowd than me ?

TBF I'm an utter knob. Even I get fed up with me pulling plots apart and pointing out continuity errors.

    I'm worst with trees.

If you expect me to watch a film of yours, you'd better film it over one season or make sure there are no trees (or coniferous trees only) or I'll be pointing out that the last scene was in summer and we're clearly now back in spring.

    It's like a drug.

This x 1000. I think lots of people gave up around series 3 when it got a bit daft. Those that did missed some brilliant tv. Series 4 onwards was basically a different tv show. Think it was the best ending of a long running show too.

So many people told me about the ending and I was soooo disappointed when It happened.

I even wondered if it was going to happen after or during the credits as has been done  with films like Blair Witch.

I went to see Phantom of the Opera when Michael Crawford was in it and my sister had told me about this amazing part that would have me gasping in awe near the beginning it was so incredible.

At the interval I was thinking she must have meant it was near the end.

And at the end I presumed she thought I'd said I was going to see the latest Bond film.

But no, apparently her and half of London were staggered by a ducking chandelier falling to the floor.

Shame it didn't fall on Lloyd Webber's head when has was writing it.

Homeland did dip and get better, but it also contained a scene that had me crying with laughter when it wasn't meant to be.

It was (I think) the very last scene of one later season when Kerry got released by the baddies and came rushing over the bridge toward Saul looking like a witch on acid and went straight past him not recognising him.

    Aaaaanyway.

I've only been to Rebellion once, a couple of years ago. Stranglers and Skids being particular highlights. Only seen SLF once so can't wait to see them again. If it happens.. ?

I saw The Skids at The Limit behind The City Hall, Sheffield in (I think) 79 - but it the tour when Scared to Dance came out. That club wouldn't be allowed now, Richard Jobson was almost kicking the ceiling with his manic goose-stepping-style dancing it was that low and a fire would have killed everybody. The place went mental when they did TV Stars.

About 2 years ago I was at my local gym in a small town just outside Orlando. I spotted a guy in a Skids t-shirt so I had to go and talk to him.

Turns out he was mates with Richard Jobson although he wasn't a fan per se. Had a brilliant chat.

I missed out on seeing The Stranglers in 78  and bitterly regretted after most of my mates went and said it was brilliant.

Anyone gambled on buying gig or festival tickets for this year?

I've bought for Rebellion in Blackpool, Arctangent near Bristol and Moseley Folk in Brum. Was hoping Indietracks in Derbyshire would go ahead but it cancelled early sadly. No indoor tickets bought yet though.

I'd looked at the event and if I hadn't finally got to see SLF on the 40th anniversary tour of Inflammable Material in Orlando I'd possibly have gone.

Should be fun if it happens.

Well the pain I feel is getting worse I just wish they would hurry up and contact me so if more tests need carrying out they are painful I have a little while to recover from it and die go back to work may 17th. Just being tested for 2 years ago I never felt pain like it but having needles but with electricy run through them let just saying I could barely move I had go back to work 2 to 3 days later.

Or even maybe have stay over night while run tests to see what caused it but I am getting fed up of waiting over 2 years since test was carried out.

Go to the A&E mate and don't take no for an answer if you are in that kind of pain.

As @Coneheadjohn suggests, you could look at diet. Sugar can really cause inflammation as can refined carbs. There's a growing body of research suggesting Turmeric (or curcumin the active component) with black pepper can help with inflammation. It's by no means conclusive and isn't a quick fix like a pain killer could be, but worth a shot.

Think you've hit the nail on the head there. Stupidly rich people are big risk takers.

Actually, that's largely an urban myth.

I'm not saying some don't, especially when they start up their ventures often leaving well paid jobs behind.

But by and large, you don't grow massive wealth by taking big risks, you grow it by managing and mitigating risk.

You find the big risk takers in Vegas most of whom end up without a vessel to empty their bladder into.

Having said all that, let's hope this guy is one of the few. And he kinda must be to a certain extent of he's buying us.

Brake checking someone has been en vogue for a number of years now which is just as dangerous and annoying. Especially if the person has cut you up, you sound your horn to express your displeasure then they then brake check you to further confirm what an atrociously mannered motorist they are.

Brake checking is dangerous because nobody does it to somebody who they know is a safe distance away.

But I got into an argument with a trucker in a Quora thread on brake checking once after he said if he ran into the back of a car that brake checked him he'd punch the driver out (I'm presuming if it was a guy, but who knows?).

I responded that if he drove at a safe distance he'd not run into the back of somebody brake checking him so he was driving as badly as the other person.

    He threatened me.

So I ran off, deleted my account and changed my name because it's illegal in the US to be a trucker unless you're hard and utterly mental.
