To be honest my answer is based on what a sailor in the Navy told me, however he's scouse and is banned from Bermuda so might not be the most reliable source of information!

I genuinely haven't looked, but if I was guessing I'd say a boat has a propeller of some description and a ship doesn't.

Then again wasn't the Titanic a ship?

Going back to my problem this weekend.  If anyone does need tickets printing off, maybe people could offer to print for folk who don’t have printers too?

I’d be willing to print off for anyone in Belper.  I’m on the ball now.

I can print tickets off to anybody in St, Austell. For anybody else (which is everybody), email then to me, then I can print them off for you, then i can scan them into my computer and email them to you to print off. Job done.

Following this up, the finale is this Sunday so a good opportunity to binge between now and then if you haven't watched any yet.

Never been on a Submarine and after watching this, I never do. Ships on the water are bad enough, can't imagine why anyone would ever want to volunteer to go under the water...

Difference between a ship and a boat? No Googling aloud!

    Can we Google quietly?

I've seen Frank maybe half a dozen times, I would also say he's the best stand up I've seen live.

Probably just a below average night I caught him on, I still listen most Saturday mornings to his show, and that's always entertaining.

I shall definitely report back! The only time I saw him I came out with my cheeks hurting I was laughing that much. And the texting routing with Kylie that I've only seen on YouTube is one of the greatest bits of stand up I have ever seen. Who else do you rate? I'm looking for mre UK comedians to see as I'm really out of touch and not many of the US comedians I like come to the UK, certainly not Cornwall.

I saw him in about 1992, wearing his WBA away shirt - probably the best I have seen

Ones that were disappointing -  Jack Dee, the League of Gentlemen ( just regurgitated their TV show), Peter Kay

    Surprisingly good - Lily Savage

Seen him rescue it twice - Al Murray

@Rev of all the comedians I've seen, Skinner was the best. At least half his show was material from what had happened that weekend involving the trial of British nanny, Louise Woodward in the US.

Sooo, I'm bummed to hear what you say, especially as I have tickets to go and see him next month!

I saw Jack Dee in Derby around 1996. His first half was poor, but his second was very good.

I've just never *got* Peter Kay in the same way as I've never got Michael Mcintyre. That's comedy I guess.

I have recently taken up fishing….and I mean Barry taken It up, I go out on the boat fishing for mackerel (which is the easiest thing in the world to catch by all accounts) anyway….every time I get one I turn into a cross between Bob and Paul, shouting “I’m in” and jumping around.

I once went mackerel fishing in Scotland. The stupid duckers were almost hurling themselves into the boat. It was years ago and I cannot remember how long we were out, but I know I caught close on 30.

Which is close on 30 more than I ever caught fishing for trout on the Derwent near Matlock.

So my conclusion is mackerel are thick, trout not so much.

  7. Watched the first episode of Alma's Not Normal on iPlayer after hearing and reading rave reviews and it winning a BAFTA on the back of the pilot alone.

Really good, reminds me a lot of Fleabag although not quite at that level just yet, but there's time.

Good Grief!!! You really are something else ....Mr Cynical...so Rooney does something really good and out of his own pocket and its PR related !!!!! Just hate it when something decent is turned into something else......Not everyone does things because PR management say so...not everyone who is famous follows what PR people say like brain dead lemmings............

If it was PR related it would've been much better publicised...or did his PR team say don't worry....someone will mention it on the DCFC Forum pmsl

There's a brilliant book by Ryan Holiday called Trust Me I'm Lying all about his time as a PR person - and a top one at that.

And you're right, whereas there can be subtle ways to use PR, for the most part they use a sledgehammer.

Nothing about this suggests it's a PR op, but ya know, when people have made up their mind about a person it's very tricky to change it because they'll always be searching for evidence to support their current belief.

The alternative is to say 'You know what, I was wrong' and a lot of people hate that because then they feel stupid.

The reality is, that sticking to an opinion when there is contradictory evidence is what's really stupid.

There were so many great memories. As fans next season could be a great time, as a club it will be horrendous.

Brighton away was great as well..

Was that the one where it snowed?

Only been there once and it was horrible weather.

He didn’t manage to keep us up. A Cardiff player did that plus Rotherham’s inability to capitalise on our appalling record. It was sheer luck we stayed up and nothing more.

We didn't get any more points because it was the last game of the season, we still got one.

And Rotherham didn't get any less because they conceded with two minutes to go, they still got one too.

It's utterly absurd to say we stayed up because of one piece of luck when there will have been times when bad luck cost us points throughout the season just like it did Rotherham.

We stayed up, Rooney was in charge, ipso facto, Rooney kept us up. Argument over.

His hand in recruitment has been very valuable.

I’ll be more convinced by him as a manager when he makes timely and useful changes during play. Have not seen that and always worry that as the game goes on his opposing manager will outfox him

As for his conduct, he has certainly carried himself well these past few weeks. But I think he has done what would be expected imho

    He's till learning that element.

Reading away.. Elm Park. Massive following. Derby everywhere.

    Shrewsbury away.

We had some huge followings in those day. Carefree.

Lincoln with Derby taking over the pub on the left A46 just (I think before) you get to Newark.

Cambridge was solid as was Bournemouth for Arthur's first game.

I once drove to Darlington to see a client on a ridiculously contrived meeting that didn't need to happen and the game got postponed.

I did it again for the rearranged fixture in a Tranny Van (can you call them those these days?) on my own and we lost.

And then the following season, that turnout over 9k at Bramall Lane when Gee scored the winner at our end.

The best time to be a fan was the Arthur Cox year's in my opinion. The pop side and away games were something else.

I loved the time in the 3rd going to so many away games and filling the smaller grounds.

BUT, I think the season under Jim Smith when we went on was slightly better.

I put a bus on from Matlock to Sunderland and we filled it in hours, so we ended up taking two.

    Great days!

  14. He has zero to do with the issues we now find ourselves in, but he has acted with utter class.

He's had no money and is playing a number of players he knows aren't good enough (at least at the moment) without a word of complaint publicly.

He's just got on with his job and tried to get this team playing decent football with one hand tied behind his back, wearing lead boots and being made to wear a balaclava the wrong way around.

And then he hears about going into administration on TV like the rest of us and rather than whining or walking out he gets on with his job.

I really like what I'm seeing, especially when you consider he's in his first year of management and the second youngest boss in the entire football league.

He should have control of this team if/when he has money to spend, or at the very least until the end of this season.

If he does walk or get pushed, I for one will be bitterly disappointed.

We will see players sold in Jan, but bear in mind that it makes no financial sense to just go "Jason Knight - 100k, Sibley - £200k, Bird- £200k" and get them gone dirt cheap.

Yes it will be low figures, yes we would get more in normal circumstances, but the administrators aren't stupid. We need money now more than ever, we'll get okayish money for them.

They won't sell the whole squad for peanuts, only make a tiny dent in the debt, and then have to fold the club.  They'll work with the footballing people at the club and do their own market research to do the right thing

Yep, the reality is that if you have more than one club interested in a player then the market will still set the price no matter what.

If a club comes in and offers £100k for player X then the administrators advise other clubs and they can bid over that. They just don't take the first offer.

They're not selling some scrap metal and an old fridge.

There's plenty of elements to this to panic about, but giving players away isn't one of those elements.

The idea that we are safe from losing players until January isn't strictly true. If the administrators come in and the DCFC bank account is empty, and we can't find a buyer VERY quickly, then guess what? Asset stripping time. Get players off the books to reduce outgoings by any means necessary. Far worse than losing people for fees (even rubbish fees) in January, we might end up in a position where we are cutting deals to offload players simply to get wages off the books and backfilling the team with actual children.

That's not asset stripping, that's reducing costs.

Any administrator will be looking to secure the kong term future of the club, plus they are working under different rules because of the EFL.

So letting saleable players go for free to reduce the overhead when they can sell them in January is just not going to happen.

No matter what we think of the EFL they don't want Derby to fold.
