Slaapwekkend P reacted to CBRammette in Martyn Waghorn - signed a 1-year deal
Tin foil hats on - PW says people in football lie, we're being mucked around by clubs/strikers we really want and nothing's moving, good relations with blackpool where he's always been going and Waggy as his son is in academy, he trains/trials with us very publicly, we talk of a potential deal, PW discusses how little we have left for incoming players and suddenly other clubs/strikers pretty sure we're about to sign our only other perm striker suddenly stop mucking about and bob's your uncle we get who we really want, waggy goes to blackpool and everyone lives happliy ever after. Sorry have had some wine!

Slaapwekkend P reacted to Carnero in Martyn Waghorn - signed a 1-year deal
There is a big difference between a deal happening and a deal being announced.

Slaapwekkend P reacted to Ghost of Clough in Martyn Waghorn - signed a 1-year deal
Can't wait for us to announce him as a signing at 2pm tomorrow, having secretly registered him this morning.

Slaapwekkend P reacted to Walkley Ram in Conor Hourihane, Derby's next captain.
Yeah but Warne is doing things differently and I don't like that. I want things to be exactly as I imagine they should be in my own head, and I don't want anything to ever change.

Slaapwekkend P reacted to angieram in Max Bird
I don't know why I bothered creating a new thread to talk about Max Bird the footballer when all some of you want to harp on about is the bloody transfer speculation. 🤷🏻♀️
There's a thread over in the TRANSFER forum and several threads on here for you to all wallow in your doom and gloom, without bringing it in here!

Slaapwekkend P reacted to FlyBritishMidland in Paul Warne on Sportscene for full hour 1st August
Missed it last night so I listened to it on my way to work this morning. I really enjoyed it and could listen to him all day. I like his ideas on leadership and culture and, as he admires Klopp and his type of football, I like his football philosophy. I’d rather watch Liverpool when they’re at it than Man City any day of the week.
Obviously he wants a striker or 2 but interesting to hear his comments on Collins. If he can stay in the middle of the pitch and in and around the penalty area he’ll get more goals. Totally agree, I think Collins will have a good season.
Can’t wait for Saturday 🐏.

Slaapwekkend P reacted to Carl Sagan in James Collins
Why don't we gazump them and sign the young lad up? https://www.watfordfc.com/magazine/features/getting-to-know-james-collins
Wasn't it the 1986 World Cup when the England fans were singing "Two Trevor Stevens - there's only two Trevor Stevens"? A contender for best footy chant of all time, and one we could replicate!

Absolutely.
Unless this season goes completely pear shaped, imho he will deserve at least one more season with our full budget, rather than shopping in the EFL sanctioned bargain basement bin.

Slaapwekkend P reacted to Chester40 in Paul Warne on Sportscene for full hour 1st August
Possibly he thinks they were a bit 'rag tag'? Having been through so much, having young kids and old pro's who almost felt they were doing us a favour by sticking around through all the rubbish (when others left). Plus we had the Lawrence/Keogh stuff, Rooney undermining the manager...just constant uncertainty and changes in management over a long period.
Maybe in his head he wants stability, professionalism, organisation, long term planning not lurching from one disaster to another. He isn't so much bemoaning the players as seeing the need for structure and a stable identity they can adhere to and have pride in.

What's Warney most proud of...interesting response. Inject a bit of fun and a bit of realism...inducing the correct culture. Warney is very interesting when he talks about culture...he's a serious student and what I call a proper "cultural architect" - I'd liken it to what Cloughie used to do ...without actually knowing it was that.

Slaapwekkend P reacted to RamLad1884 in Max Bird
If there was a player we should be pulling out of every stop to tie down to a longer deal it’s Bird.
Might be an unpopular opinion but we won’t be able to replace him with anyone that’s even remotely within the current restrictions.
If there was no other option, and Bird decided there was no way he would sign an extension then we have to be looking at 3 million plus for him, anything less would not be worth what we would lose over the next year in a promotion push.
Feel like this is a truly defining situation for Warne and Clowes. I’m one of the biggest supporters of both but if they can’t keep Bird then I think we will see a lot of fans turning on both quickly this season if results do go the right way.

Slaapwekkend P reacted to S8TY in Billy Sharp
No one’s perfect mate …that big guy threatening you would intimidate some but it didn’t you …but it happens
I don’t think really personal insults are acceptable no matter what ..I don’t mean being called a fatty
I remember us fans giving Gazza and Waddle stick when we played Spurs and reacted well even saw Waddle laughing when coming over to take a corner with his long hair to a chorus of gyyyyyypo!! gyyyypo!! lol but making remarks about someone’s son who’s passed away is very different and not on and if he reacted badly I don’t blame him for that

Slaapwekkend P reacted to Ram@Lincoln in Billy Sharp
https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/sport/sheffield-united-striker-billy-sharp-argues-with-derby-fans-outside-ground-b2189587.html
Over the last ten years or so Derby fans have;
Falsely accused and repeatedly chanted about/at him being a sex offender, paedo and rapist. "She said no Billy...she said no", "Derby boys are on a bender, Billy Sharp is a sex offender" and "Paedo paedo paedo". These were even sung on Saturday without him on the pitch or even playing for them anymore.
Openly mocked him for his baby son dying on social media and aimed similar themed chants at him. This, despite the club wearing black armbands for his family grieving and Sharp thanking the club.
Taken any chance to send abusive messages to him on social media (see recent tweet examples), and in the open (see video) due to his dislike of the two above points.
He's well within his rights to dislike this and give back. I'm sure 99% of people if given the same torrent of abuse he's had off a loud but small minority here for many years, would react similarly as he has. To hate him as he simply has human feelings is quite harsh.
