Unfortunately, the bbc bosses gave up on serving local communities a long time ago amd are quite happy to sacrifice it and the world service which is vital to communities overseas in order to pursue other agendas....they have the money to support these services but they would rather use it elsewhere on more lucrative projects.
They lost their sense of purpose a long time ago sadly.
Massive shame as i genuinely enjoy sportscene,i like hearing from barry from burton and agnes from cotmanhay..it brings a sense of community and i still feel part of derby despite having moved away years ago.
I hope something can be done, afterall we stopped them closing down my beloved 6 music years ago after a massive uproar, perhaps it can be done again.

As you may have heard on Saturday on Radio Derby, Tony Bentley had his last game as Burton summariser - according to him on Twitter it was down to new BBC policy. Steve Jordan who presents the weekend shows also suddenly left his role over the weekend. Then today, @Owen87ITK tweeted his sorrow to his BBC local radio friends on today's news. Basically all the different counties stations are having to merge for most programmes. Radio Derby's Sport at Six/Sportscene will be going with the cuts, to be replaced with a joint Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and Lincolnshire programme. This is also happening with the non sport weekend shows, afternoon shows with the night shows being totally replaced with one national show. Rest in peace regional radio, what a loss this is. I really feel for everyone affected, especially the likes of Dominic Dietrich who's only just started with Radio Derby.

Indeed the result at 5 o'clock tomorrow is the key thing BUT am already really enjoying "Warney's" appearances on Rams TV pre-match.
Funny bobble hats, use of words like "narcissistic" and superb attention to detail like the "Why wall". Understanding one another's motivations brings teams closer together and builds tight bonds which then get translated into fighting for one another on the pitch. Sure some people may think that's verging on the naff BUT I can assure you that's the sort of "compassionate leadership" that a certain Mr Brian Howerd Clough practised every week with his teams; It's high emotional intelligence and it builds trust and an espirit de corps very quickly. I wonder where Warney has picked up these practices because they are the very same that organisational leadership experts are preaching across the Globe, because they work and produce highly performing and productive teams.

Cheers rojo. It was nice to see (from our perspective at least) that the whole thing seems to have been handled professionally and respectfully too. Our new owner (local man and fan) has made a big point of saying that after the carnage of the last couple of years that left a bad taste in everyone's mouths, that he wants the whole club to conduct itself with some integrity and that the character of the manager was a big part of that and why he went for Warne. We have not selected a shirt sponsor yet because the right kind of offers are not there yet and he doesn't want to just sell the clubs soul to just another betting company. Looks like we are going down the charity route for now which is great.
Really hoping that Warne is a big success here not just as a Derby fan but because I want to see the right people do well and that includes our owner and Warne himself. Good luck in the Championship, you've made a very solid start !

I just want to say how lucky you are to have Paul Warne as manager. I've supported the millers for 69 years. Obviously, I've seen managers come and go during that period. As far as I'm concerned, and many other fans Warne is the best manager we've had.
Like Derby fans we went through some dark times. Administration points deducted, lost our ground, forced to play in Sheffield in an athletic stadium. No atmosphere, 4 years in the 4th division.
Paul has many qualities. Excellent staff management, a workaholic. He's articulate, honest and will live and breathe Derby County.
I thank him for all the memories, 3 Wembley wins 3 promotions and I wish him well and as a consequence wish the Rams well. I've never had a second team, but for the first time Derby County will be my second team. I look forward to seeing Paul succeed.
Hopefully Derby will be promoted and we survive in the championship and look forward to see you at the New York stadium.
    All the best.

Slaapwekkend P reacted to Leicester Ram in Liam Rosenior
Very disappointed with tonight and a few bad calls from him recently but any calls for Rosnenior’s head are reactionary. That was really embarrassing to watch the Lincoln fans taking the piss but don’t be daft.
And before anyone says anything, it’s none of the ‘oh we barely had a football club a few months ago, why can’t you just be happy?!’
No, it’s because we’re less than ten games into the season with a brand new squad and a first time manager!
Anyone with half a brain knew it was going to be a tough start to the season with a team still gelling and Rosenior still figuring out his best XI
I also want everyone on here overreacting to remember what every bloody fan of Portsmouth, Sunderland, Ipswich etc said to us about coming down the league one; there are games where you get embarrassed in a Lincoln/Plymouth’s cup final and it’s f****** horrible.
A few people have tricked themselves into thinking that wouldn’t happen to us and are detached from the grim reality of League One
Tonight was pretty bad but I don’t think it’s any reason for Rosenior to go. The away form is a long-standing issue but we’ve been unlucky to not win our other away games.
Rosenior was also crucial in assembling this squad, they’ve come to play for him. I really don’t think after a mediocre start we should be getting rid of the manager, regardless of experience.
Couple wins and we’re back in it. Another 10 or so games of not scoring and then you start looking to see if we can do better than Rosenior. But he deserves a bit of faith and patience here, we will start converting soon.

And three of our more experienced Under 21 players, Max Bardell, Connor Dixon and Courtney Clarke are all out injured. If they are long-term injuries, we need cover.
They could all be fit again by January.
I think these signings demonstrate that we want to be competitive at under 21 level, as well as senior level. Good luck to them.

Show me the post where I said “Derby are clearly bound for mid table mediocrity”.
It’s a pity that you get so confused and are prone to attack people with your sarcasm who simply try and see if there is something behind the run of “bad luck” . I made no clear prediction about our final league position. As to the variables - clearly those are the number of goals we have scored in 3 away games in the league this year. I simply posed the question “Is there more to this”. Having done stats for 3 years you’ll know the likely probability of dominating 3 games possession wise and not scoring is very low indeed.  You’ll be able to put a figure on it won’t you?

At that point you say, those odds are really low. They’re not impossible but they’re pretty unlikely. Is there something behind this?

Under Cocu, we had a series of games where we dominated possession. Yet we scored nothing. My question was merely to ask, is this the same as it was then? The chances we’ve had are not that clear-cut and the goals are hardly flowing in, even at home. Compare Peterborough- they won 4-0 at home. We play them next week - how many goals do you think we’ll score?

So @Brailsford Ram, this is a football forum. It’s where we debate things football. If you have a different opinion that’s fine by me. But if you can’t disagree with somebody politely without getting all snipey and sarcastic I suggest you don’t bother. And certainly don’t get all uppity and start to mis-quote people. It will just make you look a a to££er which I’m sure you’re not.
My philosophy in life has always been “Any Derby Fan is a friend of mine” but sadly you’re coming across as part of the rare occurrence when I make an exception. That’s a shame really because I’m sure you’re a decent bloke.
And I really have been a statistician for 32 years; and I’ve also been a football player, coach and manager. And my teams won trophies and won leagues. So, I’m not the stereotypical nerdy statistician with no football knowledge or experience that your post implied. If you look across the internet you’ll see and come across a lot of serious football statisticians who are able to model game predictions at a seriously reliable rate.
So, if you can’t read my contributions without getting snipey in your replies, simply don’t bother replying. It’s that simple.

Slaapwekkend P reacted to Sussex Ram in Eiran Cashin
When watching him in the U23s, I always thought Cashin lacked agility rather than pace. Once he got going, he didn’t get left behind, and boy did he use his momentum well in the challenge! But often he got turned, and he seemed to take an age to react. I also felt like he was always on the stretch to make his passes, always looked like on the cusp of losing the ball.
But the way he has played so far this season, he’s put a lot of that to bed. He seems generally quite intelligent positionally for a player of his age (a few examples where he was sucked in, but no one is perfect). That means he doesn’t need to turn as quickly.
He has also retained the ball excellently, with great composure- and coupled with a notably accurate left foot, he’s actually a decent outlet to the wingers at times.
On height- I met him in hospitality at the Bristol City game last year, and we were all surprised at how short he was. 5’ 9” is about right. I must say, he was so polite and very bashful for someone nicknamed “Slabhead” by Sibley.
Final note- we were in DCFC hospitality that day to celebrate, as my four year old son was coming to the end of some health issues. Eiran was great with him, posed for photos, and four weeks later a squad signed shirt and handwritten note from Eiran turned up in the post. Shirt now framed on my son’s wall. Class touch, that.

My friend has not long left of his life, He has terminal cancer and has maybe only weeks to live.  He had his first season ticket when he came out of the army in the mid fifties, and has had it every season since, and then when he married in 1963 his wife had one too, they never missed a home match, but then covid came along and they have not been again. We have a mutual friend who lives in the USA he is in the UK this week end and is taking my friend to what is likely to be his last match ever. I'm just hoping if there are any protests it wont affect the match. So please spare a thought or a prayer if your so minded on Saturday. I wont say his name as he hated social media as much as he loved the Rams. So UP THE RAMS  P will be thinking of you.

Does this mean an announcement on April 1st??... perfectly scripted if that is the case!
