I know it’s hindsight but I’m now wishing we kept Cocu, yes we were bottom and frustrating to watch at times but at least he had a plan and Cocu was probably a striker (Dursun) away from implementing that plan to better effect.
This squad, especially minus Bielik, is mid-table at best. It’s in need of investment in terms of quality and depth but at the moment it just feels like we have no way of getting ourselves out of the rut, and what doesn’t help is we don’t have a philosophy to stick to and believe in. It reminds me of spells under Nigel Clough, where we went on runs of poor form with no idea of how to get out of them. If we stay up it will be due to a fluke last day result.

Just to add I thought Rooney was the right appointment at the time, still don’t think it’s all down to him but some of his decisions have cost us recently, namely the “game by game” attitude until the summer. He seemed to have written off this season from the off, which probably hasn’t helped

I would also add Bird and Knight. It is utter nonsense to write off these players when they have all shown they can play at this level, maybe higher.

    Keepers?
Keeper - Roos on the bench
RB - Byrne (McDonald & Festy too)
CB - Edmundson & Clarke, but can we afford either.
    LB - Buchanan
Mid - Shinnie, Knight, Watson, Sibley
    Forwards - CKR, Joz.
Can't think Bielik will stay injured or not. Everyone else can go, but probably won't.

No he's not - the Wendies wouldn't play him either, so their two managers wouldn't play him and are too thick? Lampard mostly wouldn't play him, Cocu either. I sense a pattern here. ?

I'm sorry, I don't like to call for anyone to be sacked but.....
Get that ego out of the club now.
I was all for giving him a chance over the journeymen managers.
I was wrong. The squad is poor but they're not as bad as they've played this season.
No, I don't want a Pullis, Hughes or whatever but there are enough positive suggestions on the 'alternative' thread.
Whether we go down or not, whether we change ownership or not, let's start preseason with a new manager. Please.?

Unfortunately just what you want to see.
They had one player offside, but it didnt come to him and he didnt influence that part of play.
Can't complain at the ref, if theirs had been offside. Lawrence's would have been offside too, when the ball first came in, before it went back out to Byrne to cross it in. Waghorn was standing offside but it went to Kazim.

Put him next to some decent footballers and he'd look good. He scores goals for Poland. it's not his fault he's playing next to complete poo.

Don’t have a problem with him celebrating his goal. Fans here treated him like dirt. Rooney humiliated him. We deserved it.

The jury, rather surprisingly, is still out for me. I do wish he’d tried to implement a style rather than go game by game but I’d like to see what he does in the summer should we stay up.  Either both Cocu and Rooney are inept or this squad isn’t good enough - I’d suggest, seeing as the squad is the constant, that a lot of the blame rests there.

either way, if you’re in or you’re out I don’t get the abuse. I don’t care if he says “erm” are lot and people saying he can’t be an effective communicator due to it.....well some managers speak broken English or in Bielsa’s case they don’t speak it at all. Rooney saying “erm” means chuff all. As does his appearance and I also don’t know how people can judge his attitude having never met the bloke. I can understand criticism of the play etc but when people bring this type of thing into the discussion you’ve lost credibility in your argument.

Hughton's PPG record at Forest is almost identical to Rooney's with us.
Considering the sqaud depth, the difference in quality, and the lack of injuries, Hughton's also doing a pretty bad job. What makes you think he'd do any better here?

I feel that a lot of people are forgetting that our injury list has really screwed us and are just screaming Rooney out when in reality he’s been very unlucky.  I mean, if Clarke or Edmundson get reinjured we might have to play Jordan Brown, who may end up being quality in the future but has no real senior experience. This just shows how bad our injury list (specifically at CB) has gotten. Now with Gregory, Stretton and Jozwiak (hopefully it’s not bad) out injured our attacking options are becoming more and more limited too. Bielik’s reoccurring knee injury was obviously very bad for us, although we shouldn’t be relying on one player to get results.

I find it difficult to blame Wayne and the rest of the staff when currently we barely have a fully fit starting 11 (that’s if you count Edmundson as fit). I’m not Rooney in as such but I feel like we should cut the guy a bit more slack, an experienced championship manager would struggle with all these injuries and off-field issues too.

It’s clear this squad is poor, it’s not solely down to managers and coaches. Unfortunately they’re the scapegoats in every club now. The buck stops with the manager, even if they’ve not had the backing to get their squad together, the fans assume another manager would get more out of the same players so it’s down to the manager and the players get a free pass (which is the only pass they’re getting at the moment as we can’t pass to each other on the pitch).

I don’t think Rooney has been amazing, I think his “game by game at the moment, in the summer I’ll implement a style” approach is wrong and is costing us. At least Cocu had a philosophy, even if you didn’t like it he had a plan. My view, however, is this group of players isn’t good enough. They couldn’t pass, they couldn’t control the ball, nobody wants to shoot, crossing was poor. Can that all be laid at the coaches door? How do they account for not being able to make basic passes or being able to control the ball?
Be honest, if we stayed up and had the money, how much of this squad would you keep?
Unfortunately neither Rooney nor Cocu was able to operate without financial problems at the club which have hindered us more than either of those two have.

He’s 19!! 19 for crying out loud! To think anyone can make a judgement on him one way or the other at such an age is beyond me. Maybe he’ll turn out great and maybe he won’t that’s what happens with young prospects. I remember thinking Miles Addison would go on to greatness but he didn’t. To say Sibley is this or that is beyond bizarre in my view as he has so much time to learn and progress, why judge him at 19?
